Jessica, I enjoy your videos and learn a great deal more from them. I have been working with clay two years now. Hope you can keep making the videos. Thnx
Thanks for the video Jessica. It seems we all started off with a second hand kiln. Mine was an old JenKin and it was given to me in a pile! I had to do the wiring and everything. the people at JenKin were very helpful.
Awesome..great quick intro to kilns..!!
Great vid. Thanks. I just started with ceramics so this was really helpful.
You are just lovely! And it was informative too!🙏🌸
Thank you for your video, I enjoyed it!! I like how you shared the information clearly and I liked the little "quiz" at the end :) I am renting a room in a home with a woman who purchased a new ceramic wheel (never used--yet!!) and is willing to also get a kiln!!!! I'm so excited. But having never had my own kiln I have a lot to learn. Once we get the kiln, we will of course have an electrician install it. I'm hoping to find a used kiln to purchase. I'm a little intimidated by technology! so hoping I can learn how to program a kiln without too much stress and angst. I guess it's one of those things that seems hard at first but gets easier in time??? Anyway, I really liked your straightforward explanation and for how you explained the difference between electric and reduction firings. I subscribed to your videos. Have a great day!!!
Love your videos. It’s like watching your best friend ☺️
scattered? no. engaging, informative, accessible to the novice that I am - all good!
Very helpful & informative. Thank u for taking the time.
glad you're back in action! I have an L&L easy fire. glad to know they last so long :) Super cute hair btw
Yes, the L&L's are little work horses! Thanks about the hair. ;)
Hi Jessica, looking for a recommendation: I'm a newb, pretty comfy with cone 04 clay. Use the Skutt automatic electric. However, I bought a cone 5 "basaltic" clay from Aardvark that will turn black when fired. Should I pre-heat? How long should it be fired? I don't know anything about pre-heating, ramps...none of it. I would like us to glaze and fire again afterwards...more adventures! I appreciate any pointers you can give me. Love your energy and clarity! It's for fifth graders at school. Pretty exciting!
Glad you're feeling better, been there myself this year, not great. Never mind great to see you back. When you say stay or keep checking your kiln, don't they (kilns) give off dangerous fumes when glaze firing? Cheers Bob 🇬🇧
You're Awesome!!
Thanks a lot! Getting my daughter a kiln so she can fire her own pieces she is making on her wheel. Very helpful.
so glad you found it helpful! :)
Very useful info. I’m a beginner. Don’t own a kiln yet.... deciding....ty!
Love your work and character, I think I'm in love, your impressing all the way to Australia.
Mmmm...
You likey?
👌👌👌
I want to get a kiln later this year. Think computerized is the best way to go for a beginner?
I don’t see vents? I’m circling the idea of purchasing an electric but can’t decide where to put it. How do you deal with the fumes? Thanks🌻Laura
Thanks for telling us what the fire switches do. Someone else talked about them for 10 minutes and never said what they do.
I have one question which kiln good for terracotta glaze pot ??
I have wood kiln good or bed !!?
You are great!
Jessica, Hi.
What is ramping up? What is the purpose of those numbered setting sticks. Is it the crack noise to tell when a temperature is reached?
What degree of temperature is usual to treat the clay?
Glad you're well again. Nice video - thanks.
Is there a 'receptive book' that comes with a kiln? How long do you fire stuff for? By weight?
really useful video, thank you
What are the price ranges for the electric kilns? What’s your recommendation for a first kiln purchase? I want to start my own collection!
Hi l live is what a place called stoke on trent and the area is better known as the potteries this was in its day the home of the pottery industry here in the UK liked your video l worked most of my life on the pot banks at at onetime l used to make 400 dozen cups/mugs a day,,, its nice to see new items come along in the pots
regards
allan
Just got an amaco select fire 240 volt 48 amp trying to learn
the school just gave it to me
1 bad element. I ran sub panel and got it set up but im half afraid to try it
thanks so mutch
Hi Jessica is that an Even heat brand of kiln?
By any chance, did you sell that kiln to your right (my left) at some time? I just bought one that looks identical to it in age and the model... Right down to the rust!
What model is that L&L? It looks like an J18x? True? I have one that I just bought. Not into pottery but will modify it using a PID (temperature controller) to melt metals. Cheers!
Do they sell any (small ones) that will work in a small apartment ? I sculpt small figures.
How much did a kiln cost and is it ok to have in your apartment or do you have to have a open space and do you have to have ventilation in the apartment?
Hello. How many voltage does your kiln work?
What size kiln (skutt) do you have? Im curious what you have because you work on platter and mugs.
Thank you
HiJessica, it is wonderful video, and are you firing Crystalline products too.
Came here for kiln mesmerized by this beautiful lady and her akills
You are very young but you have very much knowledge.Thank you.
Hi Jessica, I am new to pottery, and I am in love with the art. I want to purchase a kiln for home, and I am not sure about the size. There are 3cuft and the 7cuft which seems to be far too much for me at this time, do you have any suggestions?
DeLane Mac 💻
So the kiln sitter is only for bisque fire? And the electric you fire for glazed pieces? Can you bisque fire and then glazenfire in the electric kiln?? My space is limited
I'm a beginner, which kiln do you recommend for plates/bowl glazing?
Same!
Nice video!!! I think your feeling better too!!! ((:
Babysit the kiln sitter.
I gather the sitter lets you know when the temperature matches it? You seem to know a lot for someone that only knows a bit.
ust your site but will subscribe now. Nice video Jessica, thank you.
Молодец!!!
I just bought a L&L e23t 7cu ft
good video
Hi Jessica I really like watching your video's you are so generous with your knowledge thank you. Awhile ago you shared a matt clear glaze recipe I wrote it down, but I can't find it in my journal or remember the video it was on, I think it was the wedding plate video but I can't find that either. I would love to try it out thanks
¿Cuanta electricidad gasta, hasta cuanto se puede pagar en electricidad?
Hi good looking lady can you told me about electric kilne cost in Indian rupees
Thanks for sharing..am a beginner.
So let's hope I don't set the houes on fire .
Hai suet hart ❤️ thanks for every thing s what a u are teaching us and what i want to say is madam can you teach us how to make clay to makw ceramic tiles and formulation of tiles body
Thank you for sharing your information but please take care of you !.the specialists recommend not to set your kiln in your basement or inside your house because of the hazardous fumes when you are firing
What fumes? Please elaborate.
Wow, I thought you said Raccoon kiln ! 😂🤣
You look like the new Doctor Who :)
Hello dear really very very nice your work ❤️ I m clay itom manufacturer in india and your country name
You're purdy. (It's 2019, am I still allowed to say that?)
That's not what reduction is or means. :-/
It is my understand that a reduction firing is depriving the kiln atmosphere of oxygen which prevents the oxygen from interacting with the glazes. Or at least that is what I was taught by Val Cushing. :)
Really basic.
How about talking less by repeating yourselves less. get to it!
