Nice to see various ways to sign pieces. Thanks ❤️🕊
Love how you add interest to the bottoms of your pots. Very attractive & we know the first thing people do is turn the piece over & look at the bottom. A pleasant surprise if it's one of yours! Thanks for sharing!
I love these techniques. I usually sign like you did on the casserole dish. But I put mine in a bottle with a 18 gauge needle thingy and just sign it.
This was a great video. I am assigning my quarantined students to watch this and report back on the 5 techniques! Thank you.
I had no idea there were sooo many ways you can sign a pot! Very cool. Thank you!
Really really liked using the underglaze and carve thru it or waxing it and carving with underglaze over and wipe ! Thanks ! So pretty !
Thank you for posting. Enjoyed this video. And your pin was under your Mac pot. 😉 I saw you sit it right in top. Yep, I pay attention.
Loved your way of adding interest to the bottoms of your pots .Thanks for sharing
I am eventually going to make my own stamp but in the meantime I'm just a lettering my pieces and how I've done that is a little bit different. As I told you in the past I am a hobby machinist as well at least when my health was better I was doing quite a bit of hobby work and I have massive amounts of tools. In that batch of tools I have little metal stamps with letters on them for stamping words or a number sequence perhaps. I found it this is an awesome way actually I just thought of it and started doing it yesterday LOL but I digress I found it this is an awesome way to not only sign my initials for now but also to number all my pieces so I can keep track of glaze information in a book. I started number two because I don't like number one it's too neurotic of a number LOL anyway I start off at 2 and just write down what kind of glaze combination did I used. Right now I'm trying to develop some glazes and that helps a lot with that as well. Stamping clay tiles is essential because I found out Sharpie Burns off LOL as if it wouldn't LOL
But these little metallic letter punch kits I really really cheap on eBay you get them from China but a lot of u.s. sellers sell them as well and you can buy them in various sizes. And basically you can press in as much information as you want because it contains the entire alphabet and numbers one through nine again never used one it's too neurotic
Thined underglaze, rubber stamp. Done.
Thank you! This is wonderful. One question - how do you do the other inlay colors like with the flowers?
Love your methods; can't wait to try it.
Very cool! I am going to stop just carving my name and try these. I really like the carving through the black underglaze. So simple and beautiful. I subscribed!
From one veteran to another, thank you from your service. Where do you sale your textured rollers? I have been working with clay for therapy and love how it work, but I am excited to learn more from you!
Thank you for your service as well! My rollers are available from claysharemarket.com :)
Hi Jessica I just tried to buy some rollers from you but it says no shipping to Orlando, Fl . Why?
That pink/lavender mug with the cream is to die for
That’s my goal to make something that yummy
Could you sign in black speedball underglaze after it's been bisque fired? Or should it be before you fire?
Can you stamp into the underglaze (instead of potters ink) and then put it on the pot?
Thank you!
You are SO entertaing! Love watching your vids, even thuogh I work with brick clay and use primitive firing methods.
Great, thank you! And what if you glazed it and forgot to sign it.. then what do you do?
Thanks. How did you do stonelike bottom of the casserole you show in this video? If it is glaze then how did not it stick to the kiln?!
Jessica, I think I have come across a piece of your pottery mug.......It is stamped Jessica on the bottom and the bottom is textured. I'd Love to send you a picture to see if it is yours. I love it and would love to know who the real artist is!
Would you please tell me the colors on your mugs? I love the green inside of the one mug, the purple on the mug and the turquoise on the mashima mug.
Sure, the Purple is aglaze called Crown Heights and the green in my Chun Blue just applied thinly on Laguna Bmix5 clay and the turquoise is also my Chun blue but on porcelain and applied thickly. This just shows that how you apply the glaze and the type of clay you use can really change how a glaze looks. These glazes are all available from www.clayscapespottery.com
@@JessicaPutnamPhillips Thank you!
Fantastic video, love it
Did you use roller stamp for design on bottom? If so where did you get it? Love flowers!
Really enjoy your videos!❤️
Thanks! :)
Thanks.
I like your unicorn bucket :D
nice!
thanks! :)
Awesome!!!
Adorei ! I loved! 💝
⭐️ Thank you, great video! 🙌
Glad you liked it! :)
Loved it - but my pieces are very delicate so I can barely touch them until after glasing - so do you have a suggestion for signing AFTER glasing?
Yes, If you have to wait till after glazing to sign then you can use a paint pen. I sometimes use them to sign my large pieces. :)
Thank you
I sent you a message on Facebook
Thank you so much!!
Do you put the year after your signature? If not why not?
I już umiem! A kubeczki świetne! :) :)
Does this work with concrete to make concrete candle jars?
Oh so true on recognition of your own work.........especially in the very beginning.
Very helpful reminder........
I number my pots to track the glazes I put on them.....
CLAYSHARE 💙 a must for every potter. Another great video..
Basting is a temporary stitch used to hold together pieces of fabric. Usually the longest stitch on a sewing machine. So it’s not a permanent stitch. FYI
When you sign the pots with underglaze,do you cover with wax resist before firing?
Don't use wax, sponge h2o..
I have the same question.... I am just starting out, I thought I heard you say underglaze will NOT get on your kiln shelf, that was the carved piece, but on the signed with brush/bottle I thought I heard you say cover with wax...would you clarify that please. Thank you so much, you've taught me so much. Thank you for continuing to serve!
Does it look weird to stamp a piece with your symbol/initials AND sign them?
lol, well that piece was a one of a kind. Normally I only one or the other but I have had collectors tell me they want both.
Do you have an alternative to the L3 Diamond Stylus Carving Tool? I like how easily it seems to carve but it is pretty pricey.
Kathy B you can use a needle tool or a sgraffito tool. They will work but the diamond core tools give a much better line quality.
Kathy B, the tip of the L3 tool looks just like the Diamond Burr bits for small rotary tools like the Dremel Tool. Search for "Diamond burr bits" on amazon. I would purchase one of the inexpensive bits sets, select a suitable bit, then find a pen with ergonomic cushioned grip (your nearer Dollar store may have some you could use). Remove the ink refill and insert the chosen burr bit in the pen and hold it in place with glue, epoxy glue perhaps.
great idea!
@@pasajecolon5168 Cool! Thanks for the tip. I am going to try it!.
Ale super! :)
Do you have a video on how to make your own stamp?
Thanks, I forget to sign 1 out of 5 pieces. Now I'm ready for your Mac n Cheese pie!

Very friendly greeting from the south of France.
Pierre
It's true I do talk a lot! LOL. Glad you enjoyed the video.
:)
:-)
15:15 no way that is leather hard! I can’t sign my pieces without getting a million burrs around the edge of the letters and crumbs.
And then you would get in a knock down wrestling match when they stole your mug :D
