I started transitioning a few years ago and it's good to remember that you don't need all of those hair products and oils in your hair. Continue to use what work for you..don't get caught up using held and edge control products if that's not what you are normally using. The big chop will come when you're tired of looking at those long stringy ends. Enjoy your journey, get info. that's applicable to you..good luck my sisters!!
My hairs looks exactly the same right now I'm transitioning as well. I've always been on the fence about it because I love my hair straight but after I had braids for the first time recently, my hair was matted and I lost a lot of hair and I just wanted to start off new because I was tired of the uncertainty of my hair breaking off if I didn't relax it in time. I just want to know how did you keep so much of your relaxed hair?
Wow, I'm sorry to hear you lost some hair. I guess for me I was able to grow it out for so long was because I wasn't really doing anything with it. 95% of the time I kept it in a bun. I definitely got more breakage at the crown of my head and a bit more overtime as I was growing it out. That's why I big chopped when I did because I just couldn't make what I had work anymore. Holding on to the straight ends wasn't worth it to me at that point. I'm so glad I cut it! I feel way more confident with my natural hair! I hope this helps at least a little! Good luck with everything!!
Thanks! I am currently using Tresemme for normal wash days and Macadamia Natural Oils for deep conditioning which I REALLY love! Good luck on growing out ur hair!!
I literally did the exact same thing!! 😆 My new growth is longer than yours, but too short to cut. I wanted to see my curl pattern so I cut my relaxed pieces off an ear piece or hair. 😂
ok...i just started transitioning few weeks ago althoug i didnt have the big chop yet but its kinda difficult combing ma hair from the root ....i feel this pain while combing and think i need a better moisturiser... tips on what to use in making combing easier.thanks
GBEMISOLA FAGBO for me it is waaaaay easier to comb my hair in the shower. Use whichever conditioner you like, I prefer Shea Moisture, and comb it while it's slick with conditioner and wet under the water. It will glide through! Hope this helps!
Yeah it is a bit nerve racking to cut ur hair. But if u are tired of it like I was, it is such a relief to finally cut it. I had maybe 3 inches of curly hair when I cut mine so not super short but not long enough to put up. For short hair I recommend some stylish headbands to wear if u want to jazz it up. Also earrings are a good accessory for a mini fro. And of course confidence! I'm sure u will look great! Good luck with whatever u decide! 👍🏾😁
i think it had been a year since my last relaxer. i never officially measured it but however long it looks in the video is what I had grown. It still felt really short either way 🤷🏾♀️
I can't stand doing my step daughter's transitioned hair. Her permed hair is so fragile and disrespectful lol. I can't wait until it's long enough to cut that shit off.
Jaelyn S I big chopped it into a small fro I think a few months after this video. My natural hair is well over a foot long now and it’s been almost 3 years since this video. Check out my wash day timing vid to see how long my hair is now! It seems like it takes a long time but it flies by!
im transitioning my hair right now, ive been doing it since July and its not the end of November and i have ALOTT of new growth. im gonna wait a lil bit longer so when i take the big chop i wont have a little bit of hair.
That's awesome! When you're ready to cut it I bet it will look super cute :) I big chopped a few years back now so my hair's gotten pretty long :D I'm posting a new length check video sometime this week if you wanna see how much time it took me to grow it to bra strap length!
Hey! Yeah I grew out my relaxer for about 1.5 years before I big chopped. So about 4 months after I made this transitioning hair video 😊 I hope that helps!
@@ramonakeith80 of course! Do I have any regrets? Nope 😁 I love being natural tho now that my hair is way longer (2 ft+) I tend to keep it in protective styles like twists or braids. Easier to manage for me
My hair is in this awkward stage too... But I feel its not growing anymore.. I don't want to cut it. I am trying the rice water thing and starting to get more natural hair products...
NTSMstarz I’ve personally never heard of the rice water method but when I was transitioning it was fun to try Bantu knots, and braid outs to blend the two different textures
BeingDaphne hm maybe I should try these thanks for your reply :) btw I watched your other vid on the hair update and your hair looks so healthy and nice, goals haha
Shanice Richards I’ve been wanting to find new products to use because I want to test a theory that too much coconut oil is leading me to have too much shedding.. I unfortunately don’t have any recommendations right now but I have used Shea Moisture and Matrix Biolage before with fine results. Trying to find better things. Sorry that’s not much help
Yo misma estoy nerviosa estoy empezando este proseso tengo mi pero debajo de los hombros bueno acerca si con este proseso estén natural por el cuello con5 meses
Well I waited a little over a year til I finally cut off the relaxer. It wasn't super short but shorter than I've ever had it. Typically hair grows about six inches in a year, prob more like three for fros since shrinkage makes it look shorter. But really it's whenever ur ready! Good luck with everything!! 👍🏾😁
Queenie .pilpil Hi! Unfortunately the only way to make it all natural is to let the roots grow out long then cut off the parts that were permed. Once you chemically alter your hair you can’t make it go back to truly natural. Hope this helps! Good luck with whatever you decide to do with your hair 😊
Same! I like to brush it when it's damp/wet with a gently comb or denman brush. Also we all have to remember to moisturize as much as possible. I know my hair gets CRAZY dry sometimes..
I came waaaay back here for a reason so as to try not to embarrass you . I've been wanting to apologize to you and your man for flirting with you several weeks ago by way of commenting on your bathing suit video ( now you're cooking with Crisc0 ) It was the first video of yours I watched and impulsively and in haste I made that comment and then a lil while later I saw another one of your video's wherein you discussed being engaged thus , I felt like a dummy , lol It want happen again ...
No worries! I was very flattered by the compliment and didn’t feel it crossed any lines. My fiancé and I have been together for a long time so we don’t get upset easily over innocent flirting. 😉 thanks for reaching out tho to clear things up.
She so pretty and so good at explaining and her voice is soothing

jnefitema yep omg I’m dying!! 🤣🤣🤣 disrespectful! Lol I totally get what you mean though haha
jnefitema yep OMG😂😂😂😂😂😂. Is it disrespectful? I love your comment. Sooooo cute. I understand what you mean. It is absolutely that 😊
BeingDaphne it's probably the type of hair to pop back at you. My relaxed hair is like that .
That’s exactly how mine looks rn 😭 how long did it take you to fully grow out your natural hair
Jaelyn S I big chopped it into a small fro I think a few months after this video. My natural hair is well over a foot long now and it’s been almost 3 years since this video. Check out my wash day timing vid to see how long my hair is now! It seems like it takes a long time but it flies by!

How many months do you have on transitioning in this video??
Adria Moreta Perez I believe I had been transitioning for a little over a year at this point.
Great video! Coconut oil does the same thing to my hair also. I have heard that alot of people cannot use it.
