    I chose to DNB (Pediatrics) in 1993 while it was not very popular like now. I did that in PSG Institute of Medical sciences & Research(Coimbatore )when only MBBS students were there., ours was the very first batch of DNB students in that institution. Luckily for me we had good professors and also the opportunity to teach (to MBBS ) students helped me in preparation for otherwise very tough exam. After having cleared theory in very first attempt, I took extra training in Institute of child health (Chennai), which helped me immensely in clearing the Clinics at AIIMS, New Delhi. After few years of practice -I got an opportunity to train at NYU , New York and the experience in DNB has helped me immensely to get certified by American Board of Pediatrics. As an Associate Professor at a state university in USA, when I look back -I have fond memories of my DNB training . In my opinion it’s at par with MD Pediatrics and is highly valued in west ‘ Middle East as well. My advice to youngsters is to take DNB in your field of interest and you will be glad that you chose it. All the very best in all future endeavors.

    Excellently explained sir. Just missing part is Post MBBS DNB & Post Diploma DNB. You missed to research that the final passing rate for Post MBBS DNB is very low in paediatrics, orthopedics and Radio Diagnosis etc. 80% Instutes having 0% passing rate in Post MBBS DNB Radio Diagnosis exam( please search on Dec 2020 batch result for primary DNB). OSCE exam was easy in the first 2 exam but now it's again tough with few changes like less time for a question(4 against 5 min before), less marks ( 6 marks for a question against 8 marks before), negative marking ( Hanging question) and no use of pen and paper to write-frame short/long cases, directly starting hot sheet type viva has reduced the passing rate for the post MBBS DNB significantly than Post Diploma DNB. And over all passing rate is high of course because of central counseling NEET candidates of top rankers but it is more because of Sec DNB and Post MD/MS candidates not because of Post MBBS DNB candidates. NBE getting no fund from govt and it survive on EXAM FEE so they opt the mode so that maximum candidates fail in first attempt. For your information I give example out of 7 paediatrics all failed in Dec 2020 batch from Deenanth Mangeshkar Hospital ,pune which is excellent >1000 beded Trust hospital. Another example is of Radio Diagnosis of this hospital 2 consecutive batch primary DNB failed in the first attempt but Sec DNB passed. So plz check urself for primary DNB as you are better researcher than me. There is NIL academics in DNB course in 90% of institutes,of course hands on training and other things are there as you told is correct. Thanks sir.

    Agreed sir. However, clinical cases in DNB are atypical & findings dont make sense to a candidate who have not regularly seen complicated cases. This time 17% was pass rate in theory & that’s terrible for ORTHO. In PGI also, we are not taught and on the contrary, jipmer is superbly academic. Learning is not spoon fed but nil effort from institute makes it look even worse. But love the OBJECTIVE Pattern of DNB exam.

    I did my MD from a good govt institution. Its not like somebody will teach you there everything. But we used to have weekly thrice seminars and discussions for one hour in morning before op started. That is its not zero academics in Govt colleges. Best part about govt colleges are u get to deal with ur patients from the very first day you join. U see patients, when i have doubts, u ask about what to do next for that patients to ur professors. Thats how u learn to manage. Howmuch ever u study on paper, once u pass out, ur confidence comes with treating more and more patients, decide the plan of treatment urself. For that as MD/MS u get more individual oppurtunities. If u cannot get Ur desired MD/MS in a good college, then only go for DNB.

    Sir I am from Gujarat and pursuing mbbs in rajasthan. For me the main attractive thing about dnb is the fees the amount of fees in dnb course is actually less then 5 lacs per annum but the other side in rajasthan if you want to do a md the fees starts from 15 to 20 lacs per anum. In government colleges the fees are low but we all can't get admission in government.

    Doing DNB ortho in a corporate hospital. Got trained on skill development center of hospital before doing procedures. Once trained, they gave chances under supervision and for assisting. My 3rd year seniors are getting single chances in emergency cases now. The smooth introduction into surgical field was a real confidence booster for me. 👍🏿
    Best thing learning how the networking and marketing ourselves work in the field. Didn't know about this aspect of medicine in medical College

      How do you "market yourself" in this field?

    • @theammadam
      @theammadam 2 года назад +17

      @@MsAldil You need to learn it by seeing first hand. There's so many things. Like, making satisfied patients share the experience in social media, sending a personalized thanking mail discussing case details to every reference, conducting get togethers of trauma victims, making famous YT channels do videos on inspirational patients and showing your face in the video, even paying IT firms to make your name as top Google result for "best orthopaedic of the town" and many more .. these are done only by corporate docs. And it's an integral part of becoming a famous and financially successful doctor in private set-up.

    I am doing DNB Orthopaedics in Care Banjara, your own city sir. I can say I am more than satisfied.
    I would like to mention that, my rank last year left me with the option of DNB only. But in case of choosing a hospital, I personally came to Hyderabad from Kolkata and reached hospitals over here to find out details of training as a DNB. Following that, I put my choices for the counselling. Why I selected Hyderabad as first choice is having a different aspect, e.g a lot of people come to this hub from northern India for treatment etc. But surely this helped me a lot apart from calling/texting the resident in other hospitals from different corners of the country.
    I hope I meet you someday in some seminar sir. You motivated me a lot last year through your videos. Thank you 🙏
