Japan museum Siebold Huis, Leiden, The Netherlands

In this video I will take you to a small museum in Leiden, The Netherlands. This is Siebold huis, the Japan museum. Philipp Franz Balthasar von Siebold was a German physician who in 19th century worked for the Dutch East Indies Army and in that position his task was to collect information on Japan and its social and political structures in order to explore the possibilities of expanding the existing trade. Siebold concentrated on collecting plants, seeds, animals, maps, everyday objects. Part of his collection is now to be admired in his former house in Leiden.
