Honestly after watching this every fighting game I play now I’ve been using your tip for having all your offensive Shoulder options on the same shoulder as your face buttons and defensive shoulder options on my Dpad side and now it feels so much better, another thing I gotta thank you for max ^^
I always thought playing with a PS4 controller was wonky in a way. I can do everything except back forward or forward back motions. The disc like D-pad is such a hinderance.
I just found your video while searching the ways to deal with d-pad input issues in mk11 on PS4 controller. It amazes me that there are almost no other videos where people talk about this problem and how to deal with it, as if everyone were totally fine with it and having no sweat performing ⬅️➡️ or similar moves quickly and consistently. I'm new to mk11 and the game is already complex enough to pull off the desired combos and attack strings and that trash d-pad input always stands in my way. I mean, even performing a clean ↖️/↗️ motion is sometimes a struggle cause it's registered as either upward or side motion only. Anyways, thx for the tip! I ordered individual d-pad buttons, hope it's gonna solve it for me.
I was wondering why scorpion was always jumping when I tried to spear someone. Thanks for the info Max! Got myself a controller ordered already. Cheers.
For someone who just got the game yesterday can you blame me for not instantly being a pro player? I think it’ll take more than 24hrs to get over the PlayStation 4’s shitty d-pad.
It’s probably best to turn off “Button Shortcuts” it has screwed me over sooooooooooooooo many times. I try to do a combo and my character ends up throwing like a pipe off the level at them . All it is is like 1+3 is a Throw. Or 1+2 is to “Interact”.
I modded my d pad just by take it apart and cutting it up to 4 pieces then sanding down the edges and putting then back on and makes the gameplay precise.
Omfg makes so much sense now I was always wondering why when I do a back forward move I randomly jump that shit was driving me nuts for years I need a mechanical controller asap lol
For me ( i play on pc ) the xbox elite controller is my go to choice. Granted, it's allot more expensive, but i dunno. The custom dpads and the layout is pretty much perfect for NRS games. But for like a game as SF5 i use the hori fighting commander.
My only complaint with the game is that for controller players it's very difficult to consistently get special moves to work or at least from what I've noticed where is typically in all the fighting games I could do way more complicated stuff than that but when I play ultimate Maura, three I'm able to do all of the moves I really hope they put update
I always thought d-pads being all one piece plates under the shell of the controllers was stupid from way back before on like sega and super nes. Always noticed the interference every d-pad had like that being one plate.
@@johanfabriciochavezbarreto8419 don’t buy it. The whole thing about the standard d-pad being a single unit was actually something that I absolutely despised about the original Xbox 360 controller, and I'm sure I wasn't alone. The accuracy of the 360's dpad was WAAAAAAY worse than any of the Dual Shock controllers, and basically made using the d-pad a gamble when it came to pressing cardinal directions, as you'd constantly get unwanted diagonals, or get left or right when pressing up or down. I'm not sure how bad it is with the Xbox One controllers, but frankly I've never really had the problem Max pointed out with Dual Shocks. That said, that custom controller sounds really cool. Hitbox ftw, btw.
I'm an Xbox player and have to agree, the D-Pad bends a lot when your just pressing in a specific direction, I've gotten used to it for not being too much of an issue while playing, but a custom (I'm assuming the controller you use is a Scuf) D-Pad like you have gives a Huge advantage in regard to move/kombo input. Giving you incredible precision.

What I'm kinda concerned about is like...this is all great to tailor your experience and tighten your control for Online play, but in tournaments and local-play there has to be some sort of standard that I might not be comfortable with. The game doesn't allow player 1 and player 2 to have different settings as far as I know (playing on PC).
