Oh Potterne. Even I have scored runs there!!! Picture postcard ground. Usually a road. If you get a chance, there is a ground not too far away tucked away in a pub garden. It's called The Poplars at Wingfield near Trowbridge and it makes Potterne look huge!!!
It looks like Jeremy's having quite the season, no matter how big the ground is. From what I'm told the league had to change the rules regarding batting points due to grounds like Potterne's (and others in Wiltshire) as the home teams were racking up batting points on small grounds every week, and clubs on larger pitches had a disadvantage.
Good seeing you at Marshfield/Corsham the other week, I won't discuss the result as I'm hoping it's going to be a match video...

That is correct! To try and even out the advantage that a handful teams on smaller grounds have, WEPL have this season done away with bonus points for winning teams. It’s now a straight 20 points for a win. Losing teams get batting and bowling bonus points as before.
Succumbed to pressure. Shows how important singles are. Also from a bowling point-of-view, prime example of what dot-balls can do. And what knock tbat was. Proper player Jeremy! It is quite evident that the level of cricket is a step-up in this league!

I think even though you lack power, the art of rotating strike is crucial
You must try to get off strike
Use your feet to spinners
And try to sweep
Against the pacers try to disrupt their line by mentally playing with them.

Hey Gareth i restore cricket bats and what i am finding is they are very dry on the inside no oil. the sound i could here was the same we are having over here in OZ. get the boys to put a light oil on there bats and they will sound much better plus help the bat out aswell. cheers

Hi Gareth really enjoyed your video. Please if I may add a suggestion that you add the scorecard just like you have done for Jeremy for all the other batsmen. In this way making the content more interactive even if its in a summary form. Again great video and well done to Jeremy on his double century.

how does the points system work? Most leagues in Australia it's 6 for a win with no bonus batting/ bowling points.
20 points Win (no bonus points)
15 points Tie (no bonus points)
6 points + bowling points Draw
0 points + bonus points Lose
5 batting bonus points 125/150/175/200/225 runs (Losing team or drawn game only)
5 bowling bonus points 2/4/6/8/10 wickets (Losing team or drawn game only)
1 extra bonus point per game for a team that supplies a qualified umpire to the league.
20 for a win. Batting and bowling points for getting to a certain number of runs and wickets when you lose 🏏

Hi Gareth, lovely vids but advise you to use a drone or something to see the shots and their placement on the shots played by your team mates and you ( especially your team mates as they don't have a GoPro) It'll also be good for catches 👍

I play in the North East Nottinghamshire league and I scored 62 not out, 51, and 83. Our team is top table we have 2 games until the knockouts. I bowl a bit of off spin. I've been watching since 2021 and it's really good.

Remember, form is temporary, but class is permanent. You succumbed to pressure but otherwise you were set for runs. You'll definitely get some runs up ahead.

I nearly commented last week but I thought I'd keep it to myself. The bowling attack was absolute dross. It was an absolutely buffet being thrown down. I saw sausage rolls, meat pies and vol-au-vents. Not surprised someone cashed in and went big.
I honestly think the buffet style bowling doesn't suit Gareth at all, much happier against quicker bowling where he doesn't have to generate power and the pace is on the ball.

You need to work on your scoring shots. You get bogged down so much by anything that’s straight. Trying to just paddle away. Be more confident and play through the line
