My little mom died when she was 51 years old from breast cancer. If you look at group pictures that she was in, she is the one your eyes will go to because she was so beautiful.
She was 4' 11" tall and had an undetermined percentage of Cherokee Indian in her heritage, but she looked like a Cherokee Princess to me.
It was the hardest thing I ever lived through when she died. To this day, I can't think about it with dry eyes. You see, her heart was only 51, and cancer is such an insidious disease that it knows that if it kills the heart, the host body dies. My little mom suffered for a long, long time.
I carry her genes, and other than being about 5 inches taller and blonde, we look almost like twins. The thought of botox or plastic surgery has never entered my mind because every year I lived past 51 seemed like a bonus to me. Here's why.
I can still hear my mom saying to me, "Just one more year, that's all I want. Just one more year." She was so very young, and she wanted to live so much. Do you think she cared about wrinkles? Or crows feet? Well, she had neither before she got sick.
She's been gone for 42 years, and I am 70 years old. I have spent every one of the last 19 years since I was 51 knowing that they are the years that my little mommy was grasping for in that hospital bed, but she would never have, and I have lived them happy and loved and I have tried to live them in her memory.
I can't even begin to express how shallow I think it is to worry about what your child looks when they are 20 or 21 years old. Or to worry about a few laugh lines at 35. Heaven forbid we show the world that we are happy enough to laugh.
And I would ask them what would you worry about if you knew you were going to die when you were 51?

So not only their lifes achievements but the fact their sill here and working at 80 not how they look.how come we never hear anything about how badly Johnny depp and brad pitt have aged, two the most Georgous looking men on tv now only early fiftys look like crap but still get the work, women of that same age are encouraged to keep putting crap in their bodys cause if they dont look good their not getting the calls and its sad to see women no matter how much they've achieved still getting sexualised at 80 by how good she looks in a bathing suit.😢

Sadly cuz we just don’t. I am really hving a hard time aging , I hate how I look, the changes in energy, everything. I’m going to speak honestly. I look terrible, I feel terrible and I’m not enjoying the aging process. Don’t come for me, I’m only expressing my journey. My true joy though is my grandson, my doggo, my children and my sweet husband who doesn’t care that I look like poop. Btw he looks amazing……my husband always tells me I look younger than my age abd never says a word about my appearance. Unfortunately, when we were first dated, his friend asked him in front of me, “what would you do if she got fat?” His response , without hesitation was “divorce her”. His friend said “ she will always hv a pretty face!” My husband has said he was an ass abd didn’t mean til but it has forever affected me.

Will she only be wise and worthy of your approval if she has wrinkled skin and gray hair? Or could she be wise and an excellent person and also want to be in better shape, with a toned body, healthy and beautiful? Why is one thing the opposite of another in your head? This seems to me like wanting to divide the world between A and B again... with your side being the correct one. You don't want to do it... don't do it, but don't bother those who want to do it.

Unrealistic body images can be harmful for young impressional girls or women with low self esteem: anorexia, body dysmorphia, cosmetic surgery "addiction ". A reputable doctor should not be working on 20 year olds unless there is a disformity or serious medical issue. These girls do not comprehend the serious issues that can happen from some of these procedures. Wearing makeup does not fall into this category. If you're a mentally stable adult go for it BUT we dont need to be praising them in the media.

I love looking into an older person's actual face and seeing their life story. Smile lines, squints and weathered lines that tell you they were the active, outdoorsy types or the alabaster tones of those that prefer indoor pursuits. And the mouth...does it genuinely smile when you meet them, or is it constantly puckered in worry or scowling in disdain. Plastic surgery and other procedures wipe out all that human information. They look emotionless.

To let others enjoy their lives in any way they want to as long as they are not violating any human rights. And to let others enjoy their freewill. Be warned, at 50, you don't know what you don't know. At 50 I still looked like I was in my 30's. Even people my own age thought I was the same age as their children. I had not a line or wrinkle. Not a single age spot. I had a great youthful run. But about 5 years post menopause at age 56, everything began to change. I literally did not begin to age until 56. I still haven't done any procedures, no botox or fillers, nothing, and probably won't, but my point is, don't count on continuing to age at the same rate you're currently aging. You might not be able to imagine wanting to tweek anything now, but you have no idea how things with your face will change going forward. It's easy for you to be so above it all at your age when you're still looking great, but just wait. In 5 years, you may be singing a different tune.

At fifty, I still looked quite youthful and felt pretty. More like forty, maybe even younger. I liked what I saw in the mirror and people often thought I was younger than I was. Within ten years, a lot had changed, though. The pull of gravity on my face and neck skin was apparent by my early sixties. An age spot nearly the size of a dime appeared on my cheek that no makeup covers completely. I had been faithfully wearing sunscreen for many years. Not fair! My hair thinned right in front where it showed the most. My skin all over began to look older.
I could go on and on, but suffice to say, aging took me by surprise and I flat out did not like it. It depressed me. It did not help one bit to think about all the damn 'wisdom' I was supposed to possess now. I mourned the loss of my youthful beauty. I found out what older women mean about feeling invisible. My mother tried to tell me about that years ago and I scoffed at the idea, but she was right in that younger people treat you differently when you're old and not in a good way. I'm seventy three now and look at it, but I've come to terms with it. What else can you do?
Once you completely accept it, you can focus on much more meaningful and enjoyable things. I am a happy and busy older lady. I don't have a lot of money, but if I won the lotto, I would not be going out and getting nips and tucks and cheek implants. I'm fine as I am. People can take me or leave me; I don't care.

Aging really accelerates as you get close to sixty. I was shocked, and it hit me hard that my youthful looks just ten years prior were gone. I recall feeling good knowing I still 'turned heads' back then. It took me a few more years to come to terms with the fact that I actually looked my age, and It often depressed me. At seventy-three, I'm finally enjoying life again.

That's a subjective endeavour, the expectation would be to look like her. You don't look like her. And the majority of the population doesn't have the money to get the procedures she's had done.

must embrace aging..that usually happens in our 40s. It is not looking best, is creating a fake image about how women should look when older. Normalizing procedures and started to be a trend among younger and younger. Fake nails, lashes, hair, face..starting from their teens..too much.
See the comments about older women , actresses, singers..with or without any work done.

@@jennieoh8543because they are NOT letting it be. By inventing these standards at any level they are creating a war within women. Looking like you are not aging and call it aging well so much so I slap you on magazine covers so you yell all the rest: Heeyy you can be like this and all will say you look your best.
Doesn’t look her best, she shows all the money she spent. They don’t show the hair scaring because of plastic surgery, or the skin immobility because of botox, or the sagging skin because of age. No Look how Martha is beautiful at 80. Show us a realistic picture where a natural woman looks like that at 80. There is none. Dame as the faie narrative of men “transitioning” to women. There has been not one successful human transition to another gender, ALL is cosmetic change but in reality they remain what they originally were. This is our condemn. The reason is because they are selling the hedonistic narrative of their invention at the cost of humans’ souls, attention, mental health.
