I'm still playing the same save I started in July of last year (before the exp branch came out, so the OG version and no mods). 1100 hours and I've got Whittier to Fontana open. Have not taken any loans.
I had been running tier 1 and 2 for a good while, made enough money to open lines all the way from Branson to Sylva...flipped around the info panel and saw I could go to tier 5 and selected ALL 5's for EVERY industry....went to sleep next day rolls around. 40 odd cars were dropped off at the Sylva Interchange with only 1 of my 4 viable trains (I have 2 tank engines, one for the sawmill one for the tannery so not good for long runs) so it threw a wrench in my plans real fast, spent 30min shunting and making trains I could haul out 😅😅 rookie mistakes for me again! ah well, I still made my timely delivery bonus! Great vid once again!
@KerboOnYT "Go big or go broke" I feel is spot on with my...reckless spending...haven't taken a loan yet at least! I'll be buying phase 3 for the next expansion north of Branson tonight when I'm home from work..here's to yours, and hopefully mine too, railroads success!
I like using the multiple open platform passenger cars because of their better weight to passenger ratio. The starter engines struggle with grades if you use too many heavy cars, better off waiting until you have the big Pacific first.
I have the rare pleasure of catching a video when it goes live, rather than in the evening after work. I hate being away from the game for even just a few days, it's so easy to forget what your plans were as is the case here. You've got it all under control though. I'm trialling a modded experimental playthrough, I have no doubt it will likely break at some point, but the choice of more diesels won out for me. Also, I am about to start using larger gondolas for the logging camps, although that video won't be live for another week.
Yes, they default to the run around tracks. My assumption is they pick the route with the fewest switch changes? Or maybe that’s just lazy-me thinking🤔 🤣
I really like how you're playing this with no plans for expansion. Progress is key for my personal enjoyment, but I'm working on just being content running trains to run trains. I've been trying to get everything slowly worked up to tier 5 without going crazy. I haven't gone to Silva yet but I'm off to Natanhala and that last leg is so long and there's just not a ton going there yet, as i start Tier 1 and move up every three days. It's fun but also a ton of work, but the work is what makes it fun. Set up passenger timetables and just run one trip per day, with an a separate Alarka branch run that goes twice to meet the other train.
Tear 4 sawmill takes 21 cars a day. Conalley holds 20 cars between the three sidings. L1 holds 5 cars, L2 holds 8 cars, L3 holds 7 cars. Walker holds 20 cars between the four sidings. Lower sidings hold 6 each, and upper holds 4 each. I currently just expanded my log cars to 60. 40 of them goes to Walker, 20 cars stored in bryson. The other 20 goes up to Walker.
I love the tank Mike for the compact size. Makes switching amazing....but holy CRAP do you have to monitor the fuel onboard. I ended up dead needing a tow at least 5 times.
I might at some point for an episode, but it doesn't add any value to have to do that every day. My gaming time is very limited due to work, family, etc.

Thanks for the video. Train-ing done for the day. At least that's the excuse I'm going with for now :-D Take care.
Thanks for watching and commenting. It's appreciated!

"Go big or go home" must be your railroad's motto. :)

Love the editing on this episode!
Thank you! I tried to keep it interesting.

I saw you had a new series going. Happy railroading!

The tighter focus is key for Season 2. The East Whittier Logging Co. has no grand plans for world domination.
@KerboOnYT I'm here for it!! Keep doing something novel, Kerbo!
this is why i like the new improvements to the game

I think Connelly can do it as far as the number of cars it puts out per day. But multiple runs for sure.

That's my concern as I tend to get distracted
You should change your interchange setting to Hostile just for the extra chaos and RUclips content potential involved.
