Thanks for the shout out!!! Man you guys processed a bunch of quail today! It sure helps to have help. Nothing better than raising your animals happy, healthy and getting to enjoy them for food!
I started raising quail in Aug. I live in the inner city and they are the perfect size for me to have them on my back porch. I processed my first 2 quail over the weekend. I had 5 roosters. I kept 3. I did mine the same way your did yours. I have 9 -2 week old chicks growing and 30 eggs in the incubator ready to hatch on the 13th of Sept. I am planning on grilled quail for holiday dinners.
Thank you for showing us the ease of raising and processing quail for food on the homestead with the added bonus of eggs as well. Keep up the great work .
That was awesome! Made me bristle a bit, but I needed that reminder of where and how I get my food. It's been a long time since I've been involved with processesing my food. Thank you for sharing!!
You are a blessed man. I love the fact you keep God up front and are raising your daughters to be self reliant. I have raised my 4 girls not to depend on any man for anything. I made some bad choices in life and this was my dream. I live it thru your videos now. Being 54 I dont know if I will see it but it's awesome to see what the lord has given you and how you work to take care of what he has given you.
I Just randomly ran across yalls video and to hear folks talk about country cottage lol. Cool to see some folks close to home. I live in Siloam Springs and have been around this area all my life. I'm going to be starting up a quail farm myself soon.
I watched the video with you killing and processing the quail with your brother. Your meal looked so yummy. Thank you for letting us into your way of living. So cool.
I love that both Dutch and Daniel support the others channels and homestead efforts. That's how it should be done. Not the backstabbing and bad mouthing you see and hear about from others.
Hey Dutch my Sister that lives in Choctaw had a big metal car port blown over in that wind storm you guys had Cool video wish I was there to help you guys enjoy those quail As always thank you for sharing your family and be safe on the interstate
This brought back memories I have as a teenager working at a commercial game bird farm in the 70s. They did have all the equipment such as a scalder and a deplucker designed for game bird. They raised Quail, Chukkars and Pheasants. We clean a couple hundred in a day. I need to send you a Cajun Homesteader shirt.
Like how everything is used in the process nothing is thrown out like the scraps of the quail was fed to the pigs awesome i love your videos brother keep up the work.
Nice I enjoyed the whole process and the cooking of some of the quail I give it a thumbs up very educational it doesn't bother me watching animals being killed and butchered for food it's a part of life thanks for sharing Dutch and god bless.
Dutch thank u for another geart video I watch ur videos and I miss my grandfather so much this is the kind of things that we did ur videos takes me back to them days thank u so much for ur videos much love from Atlanta Georgia Dutch have a great weekend
Am a fan of both Arms Family Homestead and Keeping it Dutch - love channels that are just real people doing life and not ashamed to live out their faith in Christ! Keep it up brother!!!
Hi there this is Paul ortiz from Dallas Texas just found your channel love your videos thats my drean some day have land like that with animanls my dog running around and kids awesoome my blessings
Pretty sure Hope is the quail catcher in the family... she was a real master when you put the girls in there to move them... Have a wonderful evening 🌻🌻🌻
Hi you guys, i can now process quail, thanks so much. But im still unsure about how you stripped the feathers off. I saw the feathers coming off I just didn’t see how you were doing it I must be quite blind lol!
Man. That looks SOooo easy. I'm embarrassed to admit how long I'VE done this 'the hard way'....Who says "you can't teach 'an old dog' NEW tricks"?.... Sigh. God Bless....~Eli.
My brother in law lives in Claremore! I have been thinking about getting some chickens and a rooster. To raise for the eggs and meat and the more I watch your videos the more inspired I get 😉
Lol.its your city girl .couldn't watch cutting heads off but fast forward to the cleaning and cooking of the quail look good may I ask what is the taste of quail like ?
I was very squeamish at first when we did our turkeys but I am getting better. I let my husband do the deed when it's chicken slaughter time and I force myself to watch. I may have to do this by myself one day if we run out of food and times get dire. My husband is a truck driver and I will have to do it alone one day. I always try to prepare myself for harder times just in case. It will still be tough to watch and do but it will become easier as time goes by.
Thanks for the video Dutch! That sure looked like some good eating. Have a Blessed Week and Labor Day **HUGS & PRAYERS** from Kelly and critters at Piney Haven Homestead.
Dutch this is a great video, maybe you could go Squirrel and Rabbit hunting and clean them on video,oh yea,I love the background music, keep up the great videos
Just so you know. Go to a home depo store or mobile home store n you can buy anchors that are around 4 foot or longer that twist in the ground..you can also get the straps that connect to the anchor. Place the anchors on each side of the building, place the straps over the building n tie your building down so the wind won’t b able to move it. Like they tie mobile homes down. Good luck n God Bless.
Man, y'all had a big straight wind come thru. That is crazy how it moved it. Thank goodness there birds are ok. Interesting clean and cook. Been yrs since I've had quail. Granny cooked it some way. Looks good y'all! @Dutch, sure you're gonna have room in the freezer for all that meat? You've got to have another chest freezer. My daughter and son in law have a 10 acre place with a pond they've stocked with catfish, large mouth bass and white perch. And she's going to do your raised beds next yr. She's got a green thumb. Lol, she has mint and other herbs going crazy. She said she just didn't know what to do with them. I looked at her and said, don't you remember me drying out wild medicine and herbs, hanging up in the kitchen window. Click! light went on. Oh yeah she said. Next time i was over she had mint and rosemary hanging to dry. She's loving it. Helped birth a calf and fix the heffers stuff that was out. She had a tuff birth. Living in the woods, swamps eating gator and fresh eggs she's in heaven. With the rabbits and chickens to eat. This way of life is right up thier alley. Two freezers full of moo and oink and oh yeah old hammer claw the 7' gator they got 40# of tail meat from. That's the only thing I'll miss living down here is visiting on the back porch in the evenings and listening to the coyotes and watching my grandson climb everything lol. He'll be up to visit in the summer tho. She said that donkeys go chase coyotes. They lost twin calves one night to them. So they're thinking about getting a donkey. Ever heard of donkeys going after coyotes? Blessed day again. Y'all be safe in thise lil storms. Gonna be some nice cool weather next week up home. Enjoy your Holiday!
We had vacuum sealed some quail from last years hunt and when i opened them and started cleaning them, i was finding pockets of hair like structures in the meat.. is that normal?
Great video guys and I’m glad you showed yourself cutting the heads off the quail if people would weak stomachs don’t like what you do my god don’t watch this channel it was very educational thank you
I use a machine to process my quills cut the head and feet off and throw it in the machine clean the feathers off then gut it and clean it but I clean over 100-150 quills a year so it saves me time. I also do it for my chickens and turkeys and sometimes ducks
Dutch my neighbor has one of them plastic put together sheds. He has two tie-downs going across it, but if mother nature what to relocate for you she will. 🇺🇸💪💪🇺🇸
Awesome video, Dutch, it’s been a long time since I’ve had quail, but they are better than chicken. Too bad we didn’t have scissors like those 60, 65 years ago, we just pulled the heads off. Oh, by the way, any chance for an Oklahoma get together, you, Daniel, Taylor, Kelvin? That would be a blast! 👍👍👍👍👍❤️💜💙💚💗 🐇
Love the shirt!!!! I seen a video the other day. They cut the heads off with a pair of sharp scissor's. But they blocked that part out. Wow you showed the whole thing. It does sound bad. I don't think I could get them. But I have eaten frog legs before. Raste like white meat chicken.
Thanks for the shout out!!! Man you guys processed a bunch of quail today! It sure helps to have help. Nothing better than raising your animals happy, healthy and getting to enjoy them for food!

Outstanding video. You don't save the skin? So, do you just pull off skin and feathers at once? Super interesting.

To have quail do I have to have some kind of permit or can just have them like I would chickens
