Interesting idea. I started my career as a teen. I assisted an elderly Jewish woman photographer and a black/japanese man. I am a filipino man. Honestly, it never crossed my mind that black women photographers were a group even though I lived for 20 years in South Central LA. I never felt that there was any disadvantage being a filipino man in the photography industry. I hope there is a day soon where all the minorities feel there is no artificial barriers.

The black women Photog community is very inspiring and has helped me find a lot of great new photographers to follow and support. I’m glad B&h is highlighting these stories. The industry can support black photographers and other creators of color by paying them and hiring them instead of what regularly happens like- copying their ideas and getting the concept shot by a white man/ staff photographer

Help by creating safe places, seeking out black women and minorities, and eliminate barriers.
