When working food I had to handle a Karen once. As a 17yr old manager being yelled at by a grown woman put me in a panic attack.
She was wrong and later dealt with the owner who banned her from the store.
Some of the people who are customers are just so unbelievable! After 30 yrs in retail, I came to understand that some people have such horrible lives that they just take their anger out on anyone who interacts with them because everyone else avoids them. So sad 😢
Some people just act that way by choice, not because they are having a bad day or have a horrible life... they are just bad people, period.
If the previous landlord hadn't made them promise to end their lease early, they had plenty of justification for terminating it early.
I've been a cashier before I learned that you have to learn as I did to ignore stupid people. Just stand there and look at them if there's a next time. Stay strong

Bro right tho customer service is such a thankless job there was once when I was working only once where these lovely older ladies came through grabbed some coffee and after they got their order they thanked me for just being there and doing what I needed to and I genuinely appreciate it so much it's not hard to be kind to your server/cashier and it can make their whole day just that much better

Second story: I swear, once the older woman come into the break room, I would've smacked them so hard, they would need to be escorted by an ambulance not the police.
When they were saying go ahead and ring it again my mind went to "Oh Boy! Maybe it's going to be electrified now and its gonna zap the hell out of them". 🤣🤣 I'd do it. Set it up so it shocks them hard enough and they won't touch it again. I mean, animals learn that pretty quickly but they are smarter than the vast majority of humans.

The doorbell thing, it's easy. Just take it out/off. I've not had a working doorbell for ages. And there's probably ways to disable them for the nights only? I used to have one that was powered by a plug into an outlet, so a doorbell like that could be easily disabled by pulling the plug for the night. As to recording them, get a ring camera! They're amazing!
You don't even need to pull the plug if you connect it to a 24h timer plug.

Customer service is more stressful than military services. Customers are so volatile and unpredictable. Ive been screamed at by a lady because i had the absolute gall to ask her name. Ive also been screamed at because i told another customer that he couldn't put his 7 year old mattress protector on our product.

The story didn't mention it, but some retailers, and I think "The Wall" is one of them, tend to look over items more thoroughly depending on their size, meaning they wouldn't have bothered to look the grill over because it's sheer size would have made it difficult, but trying to return something smaller like bungee cords would have been more difficult, especially for someone with the reputation this guy had. Since he didn't actually want to spend any money, the bungee cords might have forced him to, so that's probably why he freaked out.

i use to play ding dong ditch as a kid at my grandmas apartment building but i did it with a group of other kids who lived there i only did it 3 times all to completely different pepole over a years time. then i realized it was likely annoying if those other kids do it all the time, and seeing as they are there all the time and were always the ones who told me to do it they likely do. i was around 7 at the time.
Second story is absolute bonkers! They were in there for an HOUR? AND(!) came into personell only spaces? They should have been thrown out on their asses long before that. 😵

The last story: Why would you get a doorbell camera for JUST one incident? It didn't happen for over a year after the first few times because they were scared off, and doorbell cameras are rather expensive, ~$100-$250. That's not an expense anyone wants to eat just to catch some stupid kids in the act of ding-dong ditching. Now that it's happening frequently, THAT'S the time to consider s doorbell camera now that property is being destroyed.
So yeah, I disagree that getting a doorbell camera should have been the first thing they done. The Police are free and there are multiple people to back the story up.
That bbq story sounds familiar from when I worked Asset Protection for Wal Mart...
Also the biggest "Borrowers" are holiday shoppers. Holloween costumes and yard inflatables, christmas tree's and lights. And they are never complete. Like the masks or accessories are all missing. Also people buying a TV and shoving their old one into the box of the new one to try and return.
People don't just come walking into your house if you keep your doors locked.

That first story is kind of rough but honestly I always have reservations about rich white people moving to somewhere "exotic", throwing their money around and just pricing out locals. That woman was definitely a Karen but some of the way she put things really rubbed me the wrong way. Even the narrator was like "Oh they moved to paradise and they ruined it for you", like it's not paradise for some people, for some people it's just their home, you're not entitled to have everything be perfect for you just because you're not from there and have a ton of money.
Being candid dude, I cannot see you being taken advantage of like the OP and then having this same sentiment about the situation

Grocery store cashier as well. Today the guy wanted to buy apples and he didn't know hat brand. He says they're the same price as the clementines and tells me the price. I'm like dude i don't need the price I need to use the right code. And he was just such a jerk. The second he left (ans ended up not taking his apples or clementines) the couple afterwards started telling me that he didn't need to be so rude with me.

Honestly kids ringing door bells is kind of normal there's always been a kid ding dong ditching but at 2 in the morning and more than twice that's when it gets past it at that point its messed up
The last story unfortunately their home was an apartment and most apartments won't let you change the doorbell! Yes there are doorbell cams that are renter friendly but it's usually mounted on the door making a different sound and the old doorbell still connected! Most of the renter friendly doorbells are not motion detection because of the copious amount of constant and frequently excessively large amount of foot traffic that will set it off constantly! Love your channel!
Story 2 is a perfext example of a woman who deserves to be punched in the face by a man two feet taller then her 😂
Day 2 of asking for these stories because I cannot post on reddit, my parents don't want me on it, (rightfully so,) but I have a couple stories, and I really want to get mine into a video.
Crazy Lady From my school wants Me to leave the bathroom because a smaller kid peeked under the stall, and I got mad.
So, for reference I was in the 5th grade at this point, and I was in the bathroom minding my business, doing... what you would usually do in there, when this kid smiling runs up to the stall and peeks under, I yelled in both Suprise and anger. he was probably in about 2nd grade, so he should've known better at this point.
I was in the downstairs bathroom, because, at the time the upstairs bathroom was gross as hell. A lady nearby says: Hey! stop yelling at little kids you are older! You have lost your BATHROOM PRIVEGES. I'm sorry, What?!?!! Schools are so controlling. I denied and told her what happened. she did not care at all. She continued to count down to call the principle over this. she came and ended up acting really chill (which is not usual) and waited for me to be done. I asked for her to be talked to, (I really just wanted this lady fired) but I don't think she was ever punished, nor the kid.

Random karen get mad for me saying excuse me. This is a rather short story but I will tell it anyways, I was at the arcade with my dad. And this lady and her baby was in the way of the claw machine That I wanted to use. She wasn't using it I think she was just changing a diaper. I politely asked: "Excuse me"
I lost, and we moved on bu. She went through the effort to go all the way around. And yell and: Excuse me!!!! with her horrid breath in my face.

Crazy principle won't hear that I that I zoned out. So I was just getting done with recess and kind of just put a Hulu hoop down on the ground.
And the Recess duty, Asks me to put it away I zone back in and ask her what she said And she was already calling the office over this. I told her that this was a misunderstanding and I zoned out And she said that that was somehow worse! I got sent to the office, And had to wait for my crappy school lunch for like an hour more than my classmates. Someone finally gets inherent of course. It's the vice principle who's always Super mean for no reason. I just explained what happened and she said. Okay, are you never explained it again? That it was by accident and it might happen again. I'm not one to just lie, And say it will never happen again. Just cause they want me to. But she kept repeating like a broken record player and Kept saying do you understand?? do you understand?!?!?! Am I the jerk for zoning out?
1st story: NTA-you reacted like how anyone would have if they were peeped on while doing their business. It is true that schools in the U.S. can be as authoritarian as North Korea; and I'm fairly certain that denying access to the powder room is illegal in all 50 states.
2nd story: I agree that you are NTA-anyone who blows their stack when someone is being polite to them has a lot of issues.
3rd story: NTA-like I said in my opinion of the first story, schools in the U.S. can be as authoritarian as North Korea. It doesn't help that the people running that particular school are a Karen and her rage addict deputy. If I were a student of that school, I'd transfer schools lickety split and so should you if you're still studying there; otherwise report them to the local school board. It makes no logical sense that anyone would see zoning out as against the school rules.

See story 1 is exactly why you try to treat people with respect. If that Entitled Karen behaved the op would have probably allowed her to stay for the foreseeable future but instead she decided to act like her kind which to be Entitled to everything they want and will treat people like garbage if they are not given thier. I am genuinely terrified that I’m going to discover a story about myself one of these days….I do some extremely shitty stuff when I have my autistic meltdowns. Since my mother was manipulative to me and everyone around us, growing up, I adopted a lot of her tactics, I don’t even realize I’m doing it sometimes.

Story 2: I work at a store as a cashier and I may not encounter 3 Karens all at once but I have to say this. Op has weak skin. Seeing that one Karen said to op to man up, I will be assuming he's a guy. He obviously doesn't have sibling because I learn from being the youngest of 3 brothers that words hurt but I grew passed that. He was never made fun of school because he is letting them get to him quickly. Yeah, it's ok to cry but it's also not ok to show weakness to someone that is causing trouble using words against you. I remembered that I was explaining something to a customer and I move my hands a lot while I was talking and the customer didn't understand or didn't like my answer, I don't care which, I got my manager to help and the customer pointed out that I was moving my hands a lot thinking I was trying to speed things up or whatever. Point is the customer didn't like what I was doing but my manger point out that it was how I expressed myself while talking. I don't think about my movements while talking but I like moving while talking because it helps me expressed on what I am trying to say and I didn't let it affect me after my manger helped me out from the customer. Yes, I was surprised that they point out something I do and they didn't like it but I moved past it when I have someone on my side on this. Yes, it's good op had co-works and a manger helping but he broke under pressure. He needs to at least learn from this experience because the moment someone see you break, they will not stop until they are satisfied. My words are insensitive but it's the fact that he needs to improve on holding his ground and not show rude people they are getting to them. When they leave, then you express your feelings to people you know.
Story 3: I was wondering why that guy was being sus but turns out he is cheating the return system. I am glad that they band him from the store. Kind of reminds me of that one Simpsons episode about Homer "borrowing" from stores. The point is that it's a dumb plan and now the guy can never come back to shop at that store ever again.
Story 4: Ok I am with the narrator on this. Why the hell didn't you think about buying a camera for the doorbell from the first year. At least if the parents are useless about doing anything then the cops would be on your side and then total and complete peace would have been achieved. And if that didn't work, shaming them on the internet. Boom 3 options from just recording those kids for being dumb.
Well depending on when this story took place there might not have been doorbell cameras cuz remember they didn't start becoming a thing until around 2013.
I'm actually the OP from the third story and we lived in a apartment were the doorbell were all together, so we would have to call the owner of the building to install a camera just for kids ringing the doorbell. But we moved to another home so we dont pay a rent so those kids arent a problem anymore. (Sorry if I wrote something wrong, english is not my main language)
