If the Cubs want to build a great team for 2025: Why on earth would you trade a great pitcher like Steele or Taillon...for prospects? The Cubs don't need more good prospects. These are the same pitchers you want to be a part of your 2025 Cub team. PLEASE...explain the logic of that kind of trade???
My trade pieces would include: Wesneski, Neris, Wisdom, and maybe Bellinger (contract situation). Not signing Contreras continues to bite us on the ass. Give Caisse, Canario, and Ballesteros a shot. Let PCA figure out the strike zone at Iowa. His walk/strikeout ratio is horrendous. His speed on the bases is a huge threat but his OBS is woeful.
@@edhorton2766, agreed on PCA. He needs coaches to impress upon him that if he can work counts to get walks, and try to pound the ball into the ground and beat the throw, he can be an incredible difference-maker with his speed on the base paths. And he needs to at least show bunt more to draw corner infielders in resulting in more hits.
My question right now is, with the impending return of Cody Bellinger this weekend, who is the most likely to be moved? My guess is that it’s David Bote. Counsell seems to like Miles Mastrobuoni and Bote hasn’t played that much, especially lately. I don’t know if he can be optioned back to Iowa or he’ll get released or if they’ll try to trade him.
@@SamuelSuman I agree that he was never given a real shot, but two things stood in his way…Kris Bryant and the two injuries that Bote suffered that kept him from playing for a significant amount of time. Bote has always been a great infielder. My frustration with David Bote was that once he hit that grand slam against the Washington Nationals, he tried to turn himself into a pull hitter and it didn’t happen. Before the grand slam, he hit the ball to all fields, but after that, he changed his approach and his offensive numbers just dropped.
lets say that Hoyer is thinking...we know we lost lots of games because of the bullpen and no hitting. We had a lot of bullpen injuries and bad performance and we think we have solved that mostly. We could go after a closer like Tanner Scott or Mason Miller if we can make a fair deal. With the hitting we need more power with a decent batting avg. We will try to get Guerrero. We will try and trade Happ and/or Bellinger and Suzuki. We have some young outfielders on the way soon. Perhaps Morel can go to Mariners or elsewhere. We hope Cam Smith can be the answer there in a couple of years. The trades are Neris and Hoerner and any outfield prospect except Caissie, and Morel and Bellinger. And a little more if we get Guerrero. But he is the kind of player that we need. Busch can perhaps play 3rd or outfield. CUBS WIN !!
None of the guys obtained selling the prior stars, including PCA and Wesneski, have proven themselves as major leaguers as yet. I’m underwhelmed by their ability to identify value and talent. Or maybe they just do a poor job of developing talent, since it seems a number of former prospects are doing well on other teams.
Hoyer should be fired but Ricketts won't pull the trigger until next year (if he's smart enough and wants to win) and no position player is worth keeping on this team! Sell them all but very few will go when you have below average players! Stop saying this team will go on a run their done and their sad to watch!!!
Definitely selling at this point

Mr. Spock could not explain that logic.
I’m in agreement, why trade really good starters , they are building blocks for next year . They need a killer bat or two .

@@DionysusAlS Yes to all the above. Remember when they sent Happ down and he came back not swinging at all the high heat out of the zone? Ditto Pete.
How does a team w one of the best farm systems year after year not bring these players up beyond me
Because when we do bring players up it’s clear they aren’t ready to hit yet.
@@cubsbaseballchannel so how is that a top farm system our players in the majors aren't ready to hit yet maybe its management
I have my sits sets on Jed Hoyer being fired
@user-mp1ig1fu8t I wish sooner than later but Ricketts won't let him go until after next year when contract expires
It’s the truth which is annoying to now that’s has to happen
I haven't seen any of those players you just mentioned, since that "Cubs giveaway"
PCA & Canario are 4a players.
Thanks for the show Ant! LET'S GO CUBS!!! ⚾️✌️💙🐻
They shouldve gotten Isaac Paredes from the Rays around the time they got Miller..

Bote was never given a real shot. Give him a two week run at third and he will show that he is the extra bat that the Cubs are searching for

Bellinger and Dansby Heyward for a beer and a pretzel... #getRidOfGarbageContracts Then sign Soto
Sadly, this week is the most excited ice been about baseball since April 😢. Go Cubs Go!
👍👍👍
Hendricks is throwing batting ?????
Please don't not bring back jed hoyer next year 🙏
Hoyer needs to go cubs need to spend money
The team in first place spends half what the cubs do. So maybe spending more is not the problem or the solution.

How bout bellinger for a guy named Rizzo.
Keep starting pitchers and trade the rest. Time to play the kids to see if the farm is good as they say
The time to fire jed hoyer is now...immediately before the teade deadline.
I'd sell the cubs to a better owner who spends money
Brewers are in first place, with half the salary. That is not the problem, but you keep buying high priced scrubs.
Season is over. Bear Down.
I don't want to watch this garbage in the Postseason this year!!
Go brewers haters
Yes takes jed making some good moves and spending money
Which jed has a proven record of
If we can unload Bellinger it'll be a win. Having 6 guys who are or when they were still on the team hitting below .200 is pretty terrible.
What do we have available to trade? Way too many immovable objects. This team was constructed like cement because these guys are champions 😂
We are not going to the Playoffs! Remove the dead weight and remove their unproductive salaries!

Why would ricketts care?
1. Wrigley still fills
2. Beer still flows
3. Merch still sells
