Rare Omega Seamaster Professional Co-Axial - Better than Ceramic?

- This is the first reference of the Black Seamaster professional within the bond era. It is a transitional model that bridges the new co-axial movement that was seen within the ceramic versions, while still having the older style aluminum bezel, but that's not all. It also has applied indices, and an updated date wheel font. This watch rocks the best of both worlds. Vintage aesthetic with a modern movement.
Have this exact model in my collection for the last 10 years and you're right, it's a beauty. I've never had it serviced and that 2500D just keeps on ticking and keeping great time. One of my all-time favourite pieces!
Grey Phelan I unfortunately sold this version, but just picked up the same iteration in blue. I’m a happy camper again.
@@horologyproject i am still hunting the blue version ;)
Hi Grey, I also have a same model ,unfortunately I just facing a stop second problem 🥺 on last week.
@@terencetan7798 hope it gets fixed :)
I have the SMPC in black, but if you dig the iconic wave dial your watch is most certainly the best of both worlds! Very cool. Thank you for sharing.
Matthew Davis thanks, friend. I recently purchased the newest SMPc. It’s insane. I just let it go for the BB58 and thinking about getting it once more. I have issues. Lol
@@horologyproject we all have issues! Haha The BB58 is a wonderful watch and very different from the newest SMPC! I would be happy to own either, but in a perfect world Omega would come out with a midsized model about the size of the BB58. That would be on my wrist in a heartbeat!
I have this watch though mine is from 2007 and thus a 2500C? Mine has been worn a ton (including as a firefighter into house fires and such) and remains one of my favorites.
Thanks for the great review!
Glad you liked the review. You can always open the movement a check if it’s a C or D. D would be better, but it’s a great watch either way!
I love the coaxial version in black. I like more than the new Seamasters.
Jay Harris it’s a great transitional model
Horology Project I loved the coaxial Bond version but in black. 😁
Managed to pick one up from Goldsmiths pre-owned this week. New dial, bezel and fully serviced and restored by Omega. £3195. £1300 less than new ones (which look plastic imo) and half the price of a new sub. Bargain I'd say.
I’m just buying it new in a box now ! Thank You for this video
Good review. Beautiful watch. I have the pre 2018 ceramic and I like the laquared dial. In my opinion the perfect smp would be the one with old wave dial, ceramic bezel and the 41 mm case.
That would be quite the combo. I wonder if your version will go up in value one day since its the only non-wave version. I'm debating pulling the trigger on the new 2018 model. I just wish they didn't increase the size.

I enjoy my watch every day when I'm wearing it. If it will increase in value time will tell.
Oglan Florin the one you have is too dressy. Definitely not an every day piece
Love your channel with so many stellar watches! For me the amzwatch’ watch is my favorite. Keep the videos coming. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing!
Nice variance of the smp and good review, the black window and updated d coaxial is a big upgrade.I have the first ceramic version, with the simple lacquered dial in black. Love the bigger back hipograph and the clean look overall.
One of my favorite versions is the 007 with the lacquer dial and aluminum bezel. You have a good piece. Wear it in good health!
I like that model ! Has a great movement
It really is a neat watch! Thanks!
It is an amazing watch - putting next to a submariner there are unavoidably some similarities, maybe it is the black dial that thrives that. So far it is my favourite daily wear.
Very underrated, IMHO
@Horology Project the one you have has the 2500D instead of the 2500C in the 2220.80 (Casino Royale) blue dial and bezel model.
There are some 2220.80 / "Casino Royal" standards that have the 2500D. Serial Numbers greater than 8525xxxx include the D movement. I was fortunate to get a "Casino Royal" with one.
Whoa! Great review and thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much for the compliment!
Love this version. Only issues I’ve read about is the Gen 1 movement is not as reliable as later Daniels Co-Axial movements...thoughts?
T G Yes, if I remember correctly, they had different versions of the CO-axial. This has the fixed co-axial movement and was not affected by the problems. Mainly it was lubricate sensitivity issues. Omega made some outlandish claims about the CO-axial movement that they have backed off from.
I like this version above the ceramic models.
Jay Harris thanks, I sold this one, unfortunately. But I just picked up the same version in blue.
Why?
@@denysk4933 I liked the original Seamaster because it was slim and subtle. The new one is really thick and the laser cut dial isn’t as subtle as the milled face of the original. Just my opinion! 😜
This is a great reference. My main issue with Omega is their constant new releases and flooding the market with garbage products which has diluted the brand and confused the regular customer. That’s why I’ve stuck to Rolex. This on the other hand works, works really well.
garbage products?
Grazie
The D was the last year of this watch. Its been so long since I did a deep dive on this watch, but I want to say it was sometime around ‘08
Do you have the 40mm version? As I have found the 36mm version for an excellent price and I am just wondering if it is worth the investment
The one reviewed is 41mm. There is no 40mm Seamaster pro. I hope that helps!
I have it and I would not change with the Ceramic bezel reference.
Good choice
I’m considering this watch I’ve see a good one on C24 unworn apparently. What is a good price for a 2010 model?
What were the years of production of this model ? Can I define the approximate year with my watch number starts at 86 ?
Thanks
Curious, how much did you sell yours for? Currently shopping around for this exact reference.
I have been looking for a new watch to replace my 2531.80 and this is it. How hard to find are these?
shane oberg not impossible, but they are harder to find than most of the other references.
In Switzerland they are easy to find abroad maybe not that easy as on chrono24 there are a few only available worldwide
Great vid , subbed 👍🇬🇧
Peter Stone thanks!
I am just in the progress of purchasing this exact watch, I have a few concerns about the watch, would you maybe be able to answer a few questions for me? If you would have time
Get the watch ;) it is an amazing watch if you have questions can also ask me
Did you end up getting this? I’m considering it myself. It’s just the age and the older tech that is putting me off. Aesthetically it’s a winner hands down.
what is the model code for the bracelet? 930 or 825?
It must be the 825. 930 is more speedy style.
What is the biggest difference between PO 2500 and this modell?
Two different platforms of watch. I would say the thickness will definitely set it apart outside the general look being completely different.
I’m interested in this watch. Do you how much it cost now for preowned?
Realistic price range is between 2900 and 3800 Swiss francs depending on luck and condition :)
Do you still have this watch?
From what year is this model?
I think this one was an 06
Do you know how long these model was sold for approx?
ALB I think about 2 years. Could be more
2006 to 2011
Will Omega still service older models like this one?
Yes they will
Absolutely!
A service costs around 800 or 1000 Swiss francs with 2 yrs warranty
Have the exact watch from 2010 year.first watch. one and done.omega fanboy..wasn't cheap but was a great example with full set.my box isnt as nice as yours though.
Right on!
What’s the reference #?
Ferien7 212.30.41.20.01.002
I wish I could find a replica of this model. I hate the new dial and bezel styles, so none of the available replicas appeal to me
I understand. This is really a beauty and a rare bird. I sold it, and I regret it...
Get a real watch no replicas please :)
Can someone post the model number?
It’s a transitional model. I’m sure you can find it with a little bit of Google. Sorry I don’t know it off hand. I think I mentioned it in the beginning of the video.
@@horologyproject I found it somewhere. My brother has one and it is gorgeous.
@horologyproject If you want to sell me this watch let me know!
Sorry it’s long gone 🙁
