  • This is my egg donor story from beginning to end! I was the egg donor for my best friends, a wonderful gay couple going through the journey to fatherhood - A.K.A. the Mchusbands. It was a difficult thing to go through but I couldn't be more thankful to the McHusbands for being there through it all. They are now going through the surrogacy process and by November of this year there will be twin babies with my DNA! How crazy is that?! If you are thinking of being an egg donor and need some support, please feel free to reach out to me via comments below, instagram or email. If you went through the process yourself, I'd love to hear your experience!
    Thanks so much, don't forget to subscribe to the McHusbands:

    Hi Julie,
    Thank you for your amazing video. Last November I donated eggs to my high school bestie & her husband. The baby will be raised knowing that I am his/her egg donor and I'm really thankful that I will get to know the baby and be involved in his/her life.
    Egg donation isn't a simple procedure. I have 4 kids of my own, and besides childbirth, egg donation has been the most painful experience of my life. I'm a fit and healthy person, but it's been 4 months since I donated and my body still hasn't quite got back to it's normal rhythm yet. And my hair started falling out like it did post pregnancy...nobody warned me about that! Like you, I had a lot of anxiety about the injections. I had to reinject the needle quite a few times too, so like you I had lots of bruising. I threw up after my egg collection procedure. And I didn't realise just how bad the constipation would be. It took me 5 days for bowl movements, so I felt incredibly bloated and uncomfortable. I hate the comparison "It's just like donating blood." It's not!! Trust me, I'm a blood donor! I'm so thankful I could help my friend start her family, but this is definitely not something that I would have done for a stranger and not something I would want to repeat.
    I'm well aware that I'm "Not the MAMMA!" as the boys so beautifully phrased it. But I disagree when people say "It's just a tissue donation, like donating bone marrow". For some people that is true, but for others it's more special than that. Personally, I think being an egg donor ranks me somewhere in between; I'm definitely not "mum" and I'm not "just a tissue donor" either.
    There are heaps of videos like "Make money by donating your eggs" (I'm from Australia where you can't be paid to donate eggs or sperm or be a surrogate anyway), and there's basically no videos that address the issues surrounding donating your eggs to your friends. And there's lots of promotional videos from fertility clinics spruiking "How simple egg donation is." So thank you so much Julie, for telling it like it is. Everyone I've spoken with about my own egg donation has been really positive, and I think it's a real tragedy that you've experienced some negative comments. I think you've given a wonderful gift to your friends and I wish you all the best

The other girl is a combo of Julie and her father. she does love both girls and sees them a few times a year, the fathers had made sure she is included in their lives, but she is happy they live with their fathers. So, in her case it has worked out well. Now as an anonymous egg donor I don't think I would like that at all. I would want to know the people who carry my DNA.

    This video seriously helped me so much. I was going to do this a few months back. I didn't really get any info from an actually talk to someone who has been through this. I really wanted to do this for the fact of giving someone something that they are not able to get them selves. I've had the same split opinions but more of the whole "you're okay with just giving someone a baby that you could have had and made your own" it's just deeper than that to me and I feel like a lot of people who aren't fortunate to be able to make a baby or have the means deserve it. I actually looked this video up because I was considering doing it in the town I recently moved into. I appreciate your honesty and all the real stuff that happens and what goes on. Some people can and some people can't do this kind of stuff. This video really helped me out sooo much. Thank you! ☺️

    Hi Julie! I've been thinking about being an egg donor and I found your video to be very thorough and helpful, thanks for bringing out all the details of this experience. I live in southern Cali as well and been researching several fertility clinics. May I ask which one was yours?

    What a wonderful gift to provide! Glad everyone is getting along well. Could you share the protocol you were on? On one vid you mentioned they almost doubled your medicine dosages. I wasn't clear if you started with 150IUs and it was increased or they increased it to 150IUs. Thanks for sharing; I wish you well in all of your endeavors!

    It sounds like your experience was that of a pregnant woman! I am a mom, and have been through the whole process of birth. The burning was normal for a while after I had her, as well as the bloating (my feet were swollen for weeks after!). UTI's are common for pregnancy as well. I think that is just a normal response to the hormones, however internal bleeding definitely is not! When I had my IV, it took me quite a while to get the fluids out of my body and system. Also, (TMI) pooping on the table is common for woman giving birth ( I didn't thank goodness) but I had a good laugh at your story, as I know I was super worried about that the whole time leading up to the birth. But just from watching your video and hearing about your experience, it sounds like that of an (expedited) pregnancy. I don't blame you for not wanting to do it again! I probably would choose to never give birth again, as much as I love my child. But I'm really happy to learn about your experience, as egg donation is something I've been thinking about (since I don't plan to have anymore kids of my own). So THANK you for the in-depth breakdown of your experience!

    I'm curious as to how you feel emotionally? Do you have any worries that once the babies are born that you'll feel some maternal bond with them? I would love for you to post a video where you go more in depth about your inner feelings regarding your fears/insecurities/uncertainties about what's to come once the babies are here knowing that biological you are their mother.

    • @JulieVentura

      I currently don't have those worries, but I've never really desired to have kids of my own. We'll see soon enough if that feeling changes but I for sure plan to update you guys with how I'm feeling once they are born! I think right now, I'm just so happy for my best friends to finally be able to experience fatherhood, ya know?

    IVF, ICSI, IUI, Egg Donation and Surrogacy are becoming a good business. Many countries earn huge sums of money by providing these services. And I can't stop admiring those women who are doing this for relatives, sisters, brothers, friends, etc. It is a huge hand of help! I am in need of IVF and I don't think that I would agree to take the eggs from my friend even if she agreed to do this. I wouldn't allow her to take such a risk as anything can happen.

    Just what I needed. Someone close to me has asked for an egg and I’m exploring the process now. How do you feel five years on? Do you see the couple and child often? Thank you for the excellent video.

    • @JulieVentura
      @JulieVentura  Год назад

      Yes! The couple are my best friends -more like my true family, I talk with them daily and see them super often. I think being 100% positive that I don’t want children of my own made this process the perfect fit for me. I love my egg donor babies but in no way do I feel I am a parent to them or have any “motherly” feelings in that sense. I’m just the fun “aunt” and its a great dynamic. 💕

    So do you feel like their mom? Like not that you're going to be their "parent" so to speak but like do you feel like they are your children as well? Or do you feel like they are solely Eriks & Adams bio kids? Will they know you are their biological mother growing up? Or not until they're older??? Sorry I'm asking so many questions, I just think this is so inspiring to be able to help someone in this way!

    • @JulieVentura
      @JulieVentura  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Rachael! Ask away! I do not feel any maternal bond whatsoever, I feel as if I'm strictly the biological egg donor in the process of helping my best friends. They plan on being open with the girls from day one which is great, and I'll be known as Aunt Julie! Everyone keeps telling me I'll feel differently once they are born but I've never really had that maternal instinct majority of women have. So we'll see, I'll be posting an update once they are born!

    I’ve heard so many people talk about how horrible this process is and they wouldn’t do it again even though it’s for a good cause me personally I didn’t IVF cycle it’s the same process as what you went through except I keep my eggs and you donated yours to somebody else it wasn’t bad for me. I had a little bit of bloating it wasn’t enough where I couldn’t button my pants or anything or I was uncomfortable. I had 26 eggs and 15 were fertilized and we had one transferred which failed😢. But it’s OK because we have 14 more .
    Also I didn’t have any symptoms no headaches nausea nothing from the medications I barely bruised I think I bruise one time and that was when somebody else did it for me and then I just started doing it myself. The needles are actually really small compared to the 2 1/2 inch needle you have to do for muscle injections when you’re doing a frozen transfer which I’m doing now and those hurt but it’s not that bad. As for the egg retrieval day the sleep was amazing lol 😂 The surgery was quick afterwards I had no pain I didn’t take any Tylenol or anything I didn’t need nothing I was perfectly fine I was up walking around even though they tell you not to but I was taking it easy just walking around the house and letting my dogs out and things like that but other than that I just kind of took it easy for the rest of the day. But my experience honestly was the complete opposite than yours so I guess everybody’s experience are definitely different. And if someone asked me to be an egg donor I wouldn’t hesitate I would do it right away I will do another IVF cycle for myself if I had to it was that easy for me. I think the hardest part of this whole entire thing for me because I’m doing an IVF cycle instead of a egg donation. When you get a negative pregnancy test that has to be one of the most hardest things about this whole entire process because you have your hopes so high! But it’s good to let everybody know your side of the story as well as mine and anybody else that everybody is different and medications and pain tolerance and all that run different and each person. I think what you did was an amazing thing and I actually have been looking into being an egg donor 😁 can’t wait but not until after I have a child!

      Brittany Graham Congrats! Yeah, I completely understand. It’s insane how so many people don’t see the good in helping others create a family. But when you see how happy you’ll have made your best friend and the feeling of being a part of something so special, you won’t think twice about any one else’s opinions. Do this for your friends and for you, don’t worry about anyone else! 💕 best of luck!

    I know it's a beautiful thing to give anothers the opportunity to have a child. Please keep in mind the side effects it could have. Please so all your orwn research watch videos. There have been plenty of women come up with cancer, and sterile after having donating. Might not happen to everyone but it could. I've been a surrogate myself and have thought if egg donation but the fact that " No KNOWN side effects" means they quite literally dont know the side effects it could cause. Things such a CANCER, or infertility etc. So please consider this also if you ever want to have children yourself and want tk live long enough to see your child grow up.

    I think you're amazing for what you did. I'm someone unable to have children and if it wasn't for people like you I may never get the chance to ever to become a mother. You feel like less of a woman not being able to be a mom. You giving the opportunity to two men become fathers is absolutely amazing! Without people like you they wouldn't be able to have that opportunity. Being a parent is more about sex... It's about the love you can give a child. If more people had the mindset you do, our world would be a better place to live in.
