    The great thing about this whole thing is that when the girls get older and have questions about their ancestry or medical questions on their maternal side they won't have any issues getting that information. They are being raised closely with Julie, so there shouldn't be any awkwardness latter on when they need to ask "female" questions, also.

      @@junbh2 That is not what Josey meant. For example, does breast cancer run in Julie's family, Kidney cancer, heart disease, diabetes, dementia etc. Also, more simple things too like when Julie had her first period. Now that the girls are over 6 that will be a question in a couple of years. These are things only Julie can answer for them.

    this was so nice to see. my boyfriend was a sperm donor before we met, and he struggled with the fact he felt no attachment or strong emotions about the child at birth. He's fond of her as his friends' baby, but he has no fatherly feelings about her. this makes it feel "okay", and not abnormal. He also decided to never do it again (despite being asked by 3 separate ladies afterward!) SO you're not alone in that you enjoy them, but you don't feel like being a parent or have interest in parenting at all!

    • @naylonposet2936

      @phantasma616 can you PLEASE explain all the reasons why he never wants to do it again? Details are important!

      phantasma616 - BEST scenario all around. I feel this is the best for everyone.

    • @phantasma616
      @phantasma616 5 лет назад +1

      so I can give a few of the reasons I know of, although I'm sure he has deeper rooted reasons.
      Firstly, it took about 8 months of trying, and this was emotionally and physically trying for everyone involved. There is kind of an unwritten code for sperm donors that you don't give up until the couple/mother gives up, it can be devastating to them to back out.
      Secondly, there are legal issues
      that can make a well meaning sperm donor end up paying child support down the
      line, since he wasn't anonymous the state could recognize him as the father if the couple ever sought welfare.
      (there was a well publicized case in Kansas the same year the baby was born- 2014 ).
      Third, the child ended up
      with a few health issues, and has severe allergies. I cannot remember the name, but she has a
      blood disorder that he and the bio mother must've both been carriers for. To my knowledge its not very serious, but it
      will need to be monitored as she grows. When it came out it was genetic from both of them, the couple decided against him for a second child.
      Fourth, he simply didn't feel he could make a child in the other
      situations. Basically when other lesbians found out a man they knew/their friends knew had been a sperm donor, many saw it as a chance to get a baby quickly and for free, since he'd done it for the original couple. You'd be surprised to know the other women he only barely knew, but they all jumped to him because "you did it for ____" However, going back to point 2, he wasn't comfortable with doing something so personal for acquaintances. Some of them weren't in stable homes, or didn't have income, etc, and he didn't want to feel responsible for putting a child into a situation he couldn't 100% trust. Similar to how Julie said she didn't have any concerns about their parenting and raising the girls, he couldn't say that about them.
      That last thing I can say is that overall it's a confusing emotional journey for him as she grows. Since he isn't close to the parents anymore, its an awkward relationship. My opinion is that if you're going to be a donor its either to parents you're veryyy close to (like how Julie was their best friend and the surrogate was their sister-in-law) or that y ou have no attachments to (like anonymous) I feel in both of these cases, you'd have a defined role in the child's life (aunt/uncle, or stranger). My boyfriend is more in-between, his contract says he has no obligations to do anything, which he preferred, and he has no real relationship with her (ie. child doesn't really know him) yet the parents sent him fathers day cards, and have the child give him Christmas gifts. He did have a conversation saying he did not want to be portrayed as her father, didn't want her to call him Dad/Daddy, and didn't seek that relationship, which per the contract, they knew when they asked him.
      But as I said, I know this is an odd emotional thing for him, someone who didn't want to be a father, but wanted to help his friends fulfill their dream of motherhood. It's hard to imagine the future of a human's life when they haven't even been conceived yet! If the child ends up pursuing a relationship down the road, he's open to that.
      TL;DR So this is very long, and it might read oddly, but at the end of the day, he's the biological father of a little girl who loves her 2 mommies, her grandparents, her aunts/uncles, has a little sister (from another donor) and two cats and does sports. She is a happy child with a happy life, and doesn't *need* him. He will be open to a relationship with her if she wants one herself when shes old enough to understand (shes 4 now). She doesn't even really know what a dad is, has never had one, has never asked for one. She is happy with her mommies who have been there for her since day one. Those are who she loves. The other women by the way, each found a donor within 2 years of asking him. Whether or not they're in good living situations, I do not know. I don't know the women.
      If someone were pursuing either using or being a sperm donor, I'd just recommend really sitting down and understanding what the other party wants. If you'd want to be an involved 'father figure' make sure they're okay with that (some people don't want a 'third parent' involved). If you'd want no real contact beyond medical conversations or when the child pursues it, make sure they know and accept that (not finding out youre called 'daddy' and getting a fathers day card, and not disappointing the other parents when you really aren't interested in the child, which can be a blow when they might've been hoping you'd be involved). At the end of the day, he gave them the gift of being mothers, parents, and they are their own family unit. He sees them a few times a year.

      @XxgabriellabxX 5 лет назад +103

      annagitana1 that’s just not how it works though, she IS their biological mother even if she is not in the “mom” role, and people often do view their biological mother/father as their parents. It’s totally possible to appreciate your adoptive parents while still placing importance on your biological parent(s). The relationship they have doesn’t matter. There are many people who see their sperm donors who they’ve never met as their real father ! The good thing is that this woman seems to be involved in their lives and the twins won’t grow up wondering where they came from!

    • @littlelambinparadise
      @littlelambinparadise 5 лет назад +23

      @@XxgabriellabxX I'm studying this in Uni and this is not always the case either. It really depends on all the people involved. Sometimes it will be a parent-child relationship but in many instances, it isn't and the children have no bond with their donor. Children view the people who care for them as mother/father or both and it has little to do with genetics. And btw I've taken 3 psychology classes, a family class and other childhood classes cause I'm in Child Studies and I'm also in classes with people that have worked with donors.

    You are so selfless and generous. I really don’t think anyone could hope for a better egg donor. You gave the ultimate gift. Erik and Adam are amazing parents and it’s obvious you all have a special bond.
    We need more people like you 3 in the world. 💗

    Addisen seems to really like Julie, though Everest is just as keen to sit with Julie. I also think that underneath Julie’s tough exterior, she really is very maternal. Julie is an amazing friend to Erik and Adam and just wants them all to be happy. Erik gave Julie a lovely hairstyle, which emphasises her good looks. I hope that Julie will, one day, have her own family; she is a lovely young lady.xxxxx

    This is amazing to see! As someone who probably doesn’t want to have kids of my own, I would love to donate my eggs and be able to have a relationship with the child/ren like you do. Too bad my family health history isn’t the best :/

    Really cool Q&A kind of reminds me of the multiple questions I got when my twins were little I think these kind of questions should be answered and asked by everyone that has kids Uncle Grandpa because children are life-changing experience and it's nice to reflect thanks to Eric Adam Julie Everest Addison all the love you share

    I could never be an egg donor 😔☹ it would break my heart to see the babies. I'm already a mom so maybe that plays a lot in with it. That's wonderful that you did though. You made a family happy, that's amazing!

    I think this is a interview that recognizes the cheesiness of these questions viewers probably wanted answer, yet is still sincere and nicely done.
    I wonder if it wouldn’t have looked like this (or even happened) if it had been an egg donor for a male-female parents. I think the mom would probably feel competitive or at least weird about it.
    I think if the questions were not cheesy it could be better for either scenario though
