K20C1 Swap into EG, EK Civic and DC2 Integra - Test Fit

- This is the first of our series on test fitting the K20C into other Honda chassis. We know we aren't the first to stick this engine in an EG, but this covers the EG, EK and DC2. The K20C is a big beefy engine and fits kind of tight. We've outlined our thoughts on the swap and talked about some of the problems that might pop up.
Stay tuned for future videos where we try the engine in an EF, DA, EM2, ZE, ZF, FD, and FG chassis.
The new 2018 Accord has A K20C1 turbo engine too. We can't wait till it's out. That's probably going to be the choice for most people wanting this swap. BTW, if you want to be the first of your friends with this swap and you have a Civic or Integra and the K20C engine and 6-speed from the 2018 Accord, drop them off and we will be happy to make mounts to get it in the car and the wiring so it can run.
BREAKING NEWS: After this video was recorded Motec released a plug and play ECU for the Type R. Although it is expensive, it will allow people to do this swap in any chassis.
ERROR CORRECTION: Please don't bother correcting me about the DC2 chassis being the 1994-2001 Integra. It is a mistake I constantly make when talking about the Integra, but I am fully aware that the model stretches from 1994-2001.

This is a first for the Honda game.. you are doing something first before anyone and doing it for all of us to watch! Thanks!
Integra DIY check this guy out on ig @eg_k20c_built he swap a k20c from an fk2 on his e.g. 😲
Integra DIY some one all ready put the new type r motor in a eg look up type r eg on Google
He did. But we tried it in an EG, EK, DC2, DA, EF, FD, ZE, ZF, FD, EM2, and FG. I am pretty sure that's a first. Or maybe 10 firsts. And more coming.
Almost boosted actually I wrote my original comment wrong. VA are the first to give accurate DETAILED, information about this swap. Anyone can put the engine in and have 40 pictures of it on facebook, but VA in my opinion are first who are giving out the most details about this swap. A picture can tell 1000 words, but a video can tell 1 millions words
I'm watching this like I'm gonna swap a k20c1 in my car lmaoo
mackenzie fleming it's a cheap swap bro (rich RUclipsr stereotype)
Boosted Fool lmaoo yeah right!
Ahahaha! The dream is free tho. This swap will probably stay pretty expensive unless Honda sells a ton more Type Rs, but the turbo Accord swaps will yield similar performance and should be cheaper. The tough thing is getting the manual transmissions.
VTEC Academy I personally like n/a so I'd rather just go k if I was gonna swap my integra tbh. Lol it'll take like 10,000 years for the c1 to be somewhat affordable
@boostedsil40 that's a sign its in you, its in your blood, come join the darkside and rule the universe
Guys like this keep us moving forward !!
This guy deserve to live for ever ❤
Awesome work Brian!! I consider you to be a pioneer of the Honda game.. keep up the great work my friend☺☺
Waiting for the inevitable S2000 K20C1 swap to come to life.
I've already made mounts.
Anyone done this swap yet?
Thanks for the testing this is very important for the future of Honda racing. Appreciate your work.
Where were you guys 20 years ago!? We used to have to wait until a dating pioneer would post his/her discoveries on the forums before we would jump on a newer swap. Thank you for what you guys are doing!? Subscribed!!!
Ps. I have an 89 EF civic track car (turbo D-Series) and a 2018 Honda Fit Sport (6-speed Manual). Once my Fit is out of warranty I will seriously look at swapping the Civic SI L15 turbo in.
Man that engine is a beast. Gonna be neat to see how people tackle swapping it in. Really cool you guys are doing this. Fun and interesting to watch.
I'd like to see in an EF. Im also a DC fan. Glad to see it can fit decently into a DC chassis.
Return of the ZC style hood bump
4th gen prelude would suit this engine best i feel an also would have some extra room to play with. this engine in a 4th gen would be mad an i'm watching what you guys do over the next year with this idea.
It's good to see someone switching up the game.
Ive watch this video so many times already
I see these engines ( accord, CTR) as good alternatives for the current Civic. You can make a CTR killer for relatively cheap. For the older chassis I would stay with the older K swaps and turbo charge that at low psi... Reliable and more powerful. Low engine clearance is a total headache and not worth the risks you take.
I really need to see this engine swap complete in a DC2 😫😫
Great videos, love seeing stuff like this and how y'all go about making mounts. The K20C is nice and all but not readily available. Will y'all look into making mounts to put the L15T into other cars?
i wish brian could train me in all things honda
Dfekt Nsc same he is like Honda Yoda.
Nice video! Are you guys trying out any prelude (bb6)?
this is now more relevant to my interests....
Guys look into the canon g7x you can price match it anywhere and it records amazing, is also an Auto Focus point and shoot. Is the vloggers go to Camera. I think it will bump the quality of the your channel a lot. :)
Want to see how these chassis would handle with a stock k20c motor factory boosted,it's gonna be crazy
I feel as this motorr will fit perfect in the 2004-2008 acura tsx big room in the engine bay
We haven't tried it yet, but the TSX does have a roomy bay since it did come with the taller K24.
the tsx also has the j35 v6 as a higher trim option. it definitely has the room in the bay
BB6 Preludes would be a good candidate too for K20C1 Motor swap since they’re known for large engine bays 👍🏼
Roughly 150lbs difference between bb6 vs 2017 type R or 50 lbs between SH trim. EG non gutted is 1000lbs difference.
haltech with custom harness all you need is injector, crank angle sensor, control valves, temp and pressure sensors, and coils
You might try some hood risers to get the extra space under the hood. Cheap and bolt on.
VAG has been using Bosch ecu's for years and there is some hardware/software that u can use to tune with and turn sensors off or delete them from the system.
Now this is what im talking about first man to do something first very rare among us human breed lmfao :) Do it rite homie
Good video and very informative. Love the engine but I have feeling that’s going to be very expensive swap.
This is amazing content. Plz keep it up!
Would the little brother L-series be much easier to swap into EG/EK/DC then? Since they are about 5-10% smaller overall?
totszwai yes
U didnt watch the video did u? Lol
Brian, so is it fair to say, a K20C1 with a bolt on turbo (deleting the OE unit) and a new intake setup would fit easier? Please try it in an AP1/2
Great content Honda gurus 👍

Thank you!
You guys are in Cali right? so am I I’ll let you use my CR-z as a prototype if I get back a cr-z with a k20 in it :)
FURRYDUCKIE I believe they are located in Arizona (I think...)
They put the k20c in a crz already on ig. It fit perfectly fine from what I saw
But we really need l15t swap mounts for the crz. I think that will be a better option
The CRZ was a good fit it’ll be in another episode.
We live in as and we already tested the crz
How about a Prelude 4th gen chassis? Can you get a hold of one to try??
A lot of cutting , money and hassle. I’ll stick with my earlier K series. Good enough and simple enough. Thanks for vid and info VT academy
I remember when people said that about the early K series. And the H before that.
Yes Sir I’m sure you did. That’s why your the pioneer of engine swaps . You constantly surpass the boundaries of what others and even Honda thought or say is possible. That’s my take @ least and much respect for what you do and have done.
I chuckled when the k20 motor was called a 'big motor' lol
I wonder if you guys would have any plans to installing or test fitting it into the Acura rsx.
Test FIT it in a GD3 chassis
What happened to the CRZ/Fit test?
Please drop that engine into the DC2 I love that chassis and the body style is nearly timeless.
At some point
:D looking forward to the future then. I really want to get a civic hatch and do a swap for a project but I have so many questions. I hear the k swap is the easiest but I also see a lot of people mixing and matching different blocks and heads and I'm so lost on whats the best setup for a base engine setup before turbo. Is the K the best power for a base or is one of these frankenstein engines more powerful?
Also if K which of the K's should I be shooting for? I have an 02 Audi TT Quattro 225hp with 100,000 miles that runs fine that I'm hoping to leverage at a yard for a complete swap trade so I imagine I should come out of it with any engine/tranny I want so I want to be sure I get the best setup I can. Any advice would be very greatly appreciated.
how will all those frame cutting and trimming affect the chassis rigidity? and considering the weight and position of the engine, wouldn't it be too front heavy? also do you weight the car to see the balance across the left/right wheels?
I wanna do a k20c1 swap now :D just picked up a clean eg hatch today. Do you have an estimate of what to total cost of this build would be? I'm thinking 5--10k? (From an Accord)
I wonder how it would fit in a prelude or accord? Im guessing the whole dieselgate between vw/bosch made this ecu a pain to crack lol
Watching all these k videos made me want to drive my k20a2 kpro no emmisions done yet it at that point...... yup Canada, gotta go see the mechanic he will pass it for 400 bucks dam it. I think its that price still not sure its been years since ive driven it :( with emmisions
Denny go pass it and let rip.
I have it insured just no emmsions I drive it legally :) Luckly I have not gotten the 60 dollor ticket as of yet :) I only drive it during the summer which is like 3 months 400 bucks for three months ahhhhh I just take a chance 60 bucks ya know
This is interesting thanks for the video
Just gonna stick with the d16z6 swap on my eg for now :DD
Can a k20c1 swap into a DC5?? Anyone figure this out yet or can it even be done?
I wonder if a chassis from a 01 to 05 civic would make the engine fit
Would like to see this engine in a prelude
Sweet new video!!
Would like to see a test fit on a 94 to 97 accord chasis
All I kept thinking was... Beat it with a hammer!
I have a K1 Attack that i am going to put the 2018 k20c1 turbo engine in but will it pull engine codes if i dont have all those other sensors you said in the car.. i want it to be a registered vehicle in california
Nice work!
Would a k20a transmission bolt to the motor? That might help avoid cutting stuff.
Honda guys gotta keep swapping engines to keep up with other cars
Can you try both Prelude chassis?
Hey Chris, you think that K20C would fit in a 92 accord coupe? Lol
LIT
Hi Brian great video, do you have any prelude bb6 to bb9 chassis to test fit
Ebony Walsh yep
Get I'm all in in neighbor had won boost and vtec accorn vtec turbo swap EK now YEA
Try prelude please.
Hi question can I swap my accord 2.0 with a type r engine and will bolt to a 10 speed transmission and what mods I will need to do
+VTEC Academy what engine would you recommend for a daily in a 200k + DC4?? I'm debating moving on to a 10th gen civic or something else more relaxed. I'm at a crossroads, either put more $$$ into it or replace it for another vehicle.
TSX Type S swap with RSX Type S transmission in your DC2. Actually, the 10 gen Civic is really nice. Honda has dome a lot to quiet the car down and make it more adult. The turbo cars are quite fast and it you can keep your foot out of it get decent gas mileage.
Did you get this done yet I have a k20c2 I’m swapping
Could you use integra subframe instead of E g ? What's the difference
The type R engine it we'll fit on a honda crv 1997 and what to do for fitment ?
I know honda sells these engines as a crate motor now. But from what I understood is that the engine was only available to people actively racing in sanctioned events?
That's correct. You buy i through your membership in the Honda Racing Line. At this time it is basically a replacement engine for people racing a Type R.
I'd like to see if it fits the 98-2001 accord!
Yes! 6th gen gets no love but the chassis is 40% stiffer than the 5th gen Accords. And you can beat double wishbone and multilink suspensions.
I'm not sure but could you possibly use a motec ecu ????
How does VTEC Academy only have 25k subs?!
Any updates on k20c1 c4 mounts for an eg?
Do you guys think a k20z3 from a 8th gen si fit in the 9th gen so chassis(fb6)????
8thgen civic would be nice with this swap.
hey guys i have a question i want k swap my ek civic im using eg subfram dose ek steering rack work with it or i need eg steering rack i want to keep power steering... please reply
Would this also work with the 10 speed auto that the Accord has if you guys decide to make mounts and axles?
We will have to see.
MOTEC will have ECU due in late Feb !
What's about the 94/97 accords
I have to say I have an issue with this. I don’t see the type r engine being that readily available to do this swap. The L15b is the engine all this research time should be invested into. Hpd won’t sell a type r unless you prove it’s for racing. The cost of one from the dealership is probably out of the question too. Do the L15b swap instead.
try a fifth gen Accord '94-'97
I want to get schooled…. Is there any way we can install the k20c1 from hpd into the FL1 civic hatch. 😊
It will bolt in with the FL5 mounts.
@@VTECAcademy thank you for replying
I was more concerned about the electronics on how it would function and the axle (if i could use my existing or would the ones from the 2.0 work perfectly fine). Is there a number or email i can use to contact you. 😊.
Im planning to get this done. If i do it would be summer 2024
Does anyone know which chassis the FK8 type r engine and transmission work the best?
hood spacers too
Where can I get the K20C1 engine?
I’ll stick the kseries on my eg
Waiting on the 2nd gen update😒
What about hood spacers on the dc2 instead of cutting the hood?
It the front that needs to be raised. That might help a small amount.
I got a D17A chassis would it fit
Would like to see this in a 7th gen sedan
I miss my dc2
What about 97-01 prelude? It should fit better?
It should
The 3 car need to much work for the swap. The best thing is to find a complete totaled type r there is all you part
Wouldn't a nrg tech tubular subframe fix all your clearance issues?
Not with the width problems.
Ooh ok gotcha,
and i ment subframe issues
Still good to know that one of my two cars can fit it well
Would the 4 door integra have similar room as dC2 ?
xthexyoungx1xguy Of the same years, yes.
What about into an ef chassis
Maybe with major surgery.
Do you think this will fit in a 2000 honda accord?
Not positive, but probably. The H22 is a tall large engine and it fits no problem. If I can get one of those chassis, we'll try it in.
Motec ecu aswell
Could you make this fit in a bb6 prelude?
Yes
