The Church is my favorite album this year, it’ll take something special to replace that. Gonna search out a few of these from your list also. Great video
So many excellent albums you mentioned! The new Church, Depeche Mode, and Korine are some of my favorites from this year. If you haven’t heard it already, the Peter Buck-produced (features him on it as well) album “A Colossal Waste of Light” by Eyelids is FANTASTIC.
Some amazing records you may dig not on your list. Motorama - Sleep, and I will sing. Inhaler - Cuts & Bruises Object of Affection - Field of Appearances Katatonia - Sky Void of Stars Klone - Meanwhile Chain of Flowers - Never Ending Space Soft Kill - Meta World Peace Belle and Sebastian - Late Developers
Thanks! I figured you'd have the Cale one, as I recall you showing Cale records / CDs in a past video. Grab the Iggy Pop if you get a chance - all of his recent albums have been winners to me.
Hypnogogue is a stunning album. Steve Kilby has had such a prolific career and the concept behind this album is so intriguing. After so many albums it’s incredible how much The Church have changed yet remained the same.
Love the list. I only have The Church and the Iggy Pop. I love The Church album especially after seeing them earlier this year. I still need to pick up Depeche Mode. I keep forgetting to get a copy.
Love most of your picks. My top album so far this year is Caroline Polachek’s “Desire, I Want To Turn Into You.” I can’t recall the last time I was blown away by an album like I was with this one. Peace!
Hi Bret, Really enjoyed this run down. I did the same thing last week ie Top 10 so far, interestingly I bought 18 new releases in the first half of the year and we only have two that appear in both our Top 10's. I won't say which in case you see mine.....spoil the surprise! 😃It will be really interesting to see how Top 10's so far change in the next 6 months. Albums I'm particularly waiting for are PJ Harvey and PiL. Great video Bret. Mike
Depeche Mode’s Memento Mori is definitely my favorite album of this year so far. It’s my favorite album of theirs! The worst album of the year so far for me is Sleep Token’s Take Me Back to Eden. Ugh, it’s atrociously bad!
Almost 10 years ago, I did a two-part series where I ranked Bowie's catalog, which included the 2 Tin Machine albums. I'm planning on doing an updated video in the coming months, but if you're interested: ruclips.net/video/3Cmai0cDEwA/видео.html
They all look like great albums. The only song I know by James is "Laid" and I still absolutely love it. I need to investigate further into their discography. Rebecca Black is someone I also need to investigate, because I recently discovered Hyperpop.
Hello Maria. For me, James is one of the best bands of all time. When you have a chance, check out the songs "Out to Get You" and "Sometimes" from the Laid album. Breathtaking. Thanks for watching!
@@BretHelmsLifeOnThisPlanetBlog Sorry, the 4th mentioned. Korine "Tear" -- I wound up finding it through your tags, versus the chapter title (above). Love it, listened on Spotify and just snagged a CD.

I agree on The Church! Great one, for sure.
Thanks James! It's always interesting to see what the remaining 6 months will bring. Hopefully there are some surprises!
Great review, keep it up. Simon from UK
Thanks Simon!

I bought a copy of Cale's Mercy. Some others have recommended Iggy, so I might have to pick that up. Cool list.

Well said, Brett.

No “Rattled Humming Heart” by The Midnight Callers? Very surprised. Cheers Matt
Might I humbly suggest my band, The Filibuster Saloon, and our first album

David Bowie had a good run in a band called Tin Machine...
I would love to hear your reviews ("Tin Machine 1", "Tin Machine 2")

Can't find any info ANYWHERE on Duo Karim.
Subscribing for the Catsy Cline t-shirt.
I trust you'll be wearing it every video. :)
You’re the first to mention my shirt. Thank you for noticing Catsy! :)
@@BretHelmsLifeOnThisPlanetBlog ..and Doggy Parton?
I can't find the artist or album you have at #4 anywhere. How do you spell both the artist and album title?
The Church - The Hypnogogue?

Yay! Glad you loved it!
