I live in Albany, Ny and the Dutch King and Queen are actually visiting us today because of our historical connection to Netherlands. Every we year we also have a Tulip festival in the spring in our largest park around Mother's Day. It was previously called Pinkster fest, also connected to Dutch.

My grandparents visited Amsterdam in the early 1960s and brought me back a tiny pair of wooden shoes. I was two years old and used to wear them. I still have them and they are a treasured memory. I also have a sweet wonderful friend that grew up there. She was about six years old during World War II and rarely talks about that time in her life except that she was sent to live on a farm to keep her safe. Later my friend shared the beautiful memories she has of her country. She loves European chocolate and is picky about which cheese she eats. She later came to the US, married and raised a family and is now in her 80s. A very special lady.

Being Dutch, it amazes me everytime how many tourists go to this area. In a way it's a tourist trap. Yes, the area is still active, but almost none of it is visible in our daily lives. Wooden shoes, wind mills, tulips... It's all just stacked together so people from abroad can 'experience' it during a day trip.
If you wanna have a good cheese tour, go to the city of Gouda or Alkmaar or some good street markets around all of the Netherlands.
Way better to spend your day looking up actual history in cities like Amsterdam or Rotterdam (rebuild after being completely bombed during World War II). I'm looking forward to the next video about your city trip.

My friends and I will use Amsterdam as a base to explore the Netherlands. It'll be their first time in the Netherlands. Last year during a three day visit staying in Amsterdam I also visited Haarlem and Den Bosch. That was partly for a mega RecordFair. But this time we will also check out Rotterdam for the architecture and I want to see The Hague. But photography is a passion of mine I had considered going to these Windmills. Wouldn't you say these Windmills in Zaanse Schans are great from a photographic point of view and getting really nice photos.?

People in rural areas still wear clogs a lot. Even kids and teenagers. I see people wearing them (not that many though) all the time and I live in a large town of about 110,000.
They're mostly worn by farmers. They're easy to put on, they protect you from mud, and if a cow steps on your foot you're pretty much safe.

I heard your story on "states", but I'll do you one better.
The European Union can be considered the European equivalent of the United States of America.
Each European country can be considered as an equivalent of a US State.
Each province (or bundesland or canton or other European versions -not to be confused with Canadian provinces, they are more like states-) can be considered as an equivalent of US county.
The Netherlands has 12 provinces (counties). There are 2 Holland provinces (North and South) as you pointed out.
Europe is a confusing place with many forms of structures, so sometimes it is hard to match things up between nations.

Hi your video on Efteling came up as a suggestion on RUclips today after I watched a few walk-throughs of Utrecht yesterday. It was good to see that theme park. I'm from Scotland and two friends and I are going to Amsterdam in November for a week. It will be their first time in the Netherlands but my third. My first time to Amsterdam was about 10 or 12 years then last year for three days. We will use Amsterdam as a base to explore more cities. My friend had recently asked in there was any theme parks in the Netherlands with rollercoasters so I've shared that video with him it looked impressive. Am I right in thinking with these videos you went to the Netherlands around June? We will also go to these Windmills I think. I do hope Amsterdam and the Netherlands do impress my two friends. I have a soft spot for that country. But one friends favourite place is Rome the others favourite is Berlin. So I feel like Amsterdam has to compete with those for my friends affections.

This (nice!) video is actually not about Amsterdam! It is about some of the small and picturesque towns in the surroundings of Amsterdam

Cris, we are wanting to start international travel but have no idea how to plan the trip. Is there a travel agency you go through that helps plan the trip with scheduled outings? Any advice would be greatly appreciated
