Aaron unboxes the Motorola Atrix 2, the successor to the Motorola Atrix 4G on AT&T and a high-end Android device that's priced incredibly well. It offers a 1 GHz TI OMAP processor, 4.3-inch qHD display, 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video recording capabilities, a front-facing camera, 1,735 mAh battery, and Android 2.3 with Motorola's custom UI. It's available at AT&T now for $99.99, which is a fantastic price considering the awesome feature set. Is it worth getting, especially when the Galaxy Nexus and Ice Cream Sandwich are right around the corner?

I have to say that Atrix 2 is by far the best Motorola Device I have ever used. It is also getting ICS with in a month. Great phone. Old device but still a good one if anyone is planning to buy.
Still have the original ATRIX and it's still going strong and as crisp and fast as when I first upgraded to it. The ATRIX 2 would be nice, but I really see no need to do so. The ATRIX, in my opinion is one of the most ingeniously designed phones ever, especially with its versatility with the Lapdock.
wow. I got here from checking out the new razr and nexus. This phone is still friking impressive as hell. And i'm glad someone isn't trashing the motoblur anymore. when are people going to realize that its not the same crappy UI that it started out with? A lot of attractive features on this phone.
Looks like a steal for $99 (some have it for $49.99). I don't like the reduction in internal memory and the lack of the unique fingerprint reader but this still looks like a nice upgrade. A non-pentile screen on a new Motorola phone is a big improvement and the new Moto UI is awesome. I just hope Aaron actually shoots something other than the ground when he takes it outside for the camera sample.
THIS is what motorola was talking about when they said the Atrix would get an update to enable 1080p video capture. but who knew that update would be an entire new phone. ha
i just went on AT&T's website, the Atrix 2 which as a larger and Non PenTile screen costs the same as the older atrix

After having my atrix for a few months, I can say that the pentile screen isn't really noticeable behind a screen protector. You have to REALLY get close to the phone to see it. I actually kinda wish it wasn't qHD though, because certain apps don't look right because they expect 854x480.
Damn, that review was INTENSE. Good review though. Obviously Aaron knows his stuff!
I bought the Atrix 4G when it came out, it broke a couple of weeks ago & I had insurance on it. I claimed a replacement and they sent me the Atrix 2. worth paying the 7 extra bucks a month for insurance.
just got this phone last week and I love it!
I've been using this phone for like 1 year now and it never lags as u say it does
maybe you've installed useless apps
i have installed 40+ apps and games and customized everything and even running like 9 widgets + live wallpaper and still i have around 300MB ram free most of the time and it does not lag .
+ i get around 25h usage on battery with wifi on full time. under normal use
So if your atrix 2 lags it's cause of something you've done.

I had the at&t impulse but switched it out for this...best decision. My mom and dad have the htc inspire and samsung infuse and after playing with all, I know I made the best decision for me. I can do everything their phone can and stay charged for 20 hours. Theirs stay on the charger. Its very fast, good call quality and display. The samsung infuse is tempting bc if ghe screen and bright colors, but found it lags too much and showed more pixels than I would like...plus its still on froyo.

its on par with the s2, they both have 1.2ghz dual core processors, they both have 1gb of ram, they both have a 4.3 inch screen, the atrix has a higher definition display, but the s2 has more vivid colours :)
@elminsster80 Atrix 2, it has a dual-core processor although Infuse has Super-Amoled plus. Touchwiz 3.0 is outdated so the Atrix 2 would be a better choice. If you want a samsung device get the Galaxy S 2 or Galaxy Nexus

wait, does the 4G icon on the notification bar show up anywhere else in the U.S or is it just the HSPA+ icon for the Atrix 2?
@dguerrero808 there was an update on the atrix which allowed 1080p on the first phone...
This phone is $49 at Best Buy... NOT $99. It's $99 at AT&T. That's a great great great deal at Best Buy (also $49 at Walmart online and Amazon).

I have this phone! I don't think on getting it, once you download like 5 apps it goes slow! Everything shuts off and turns off out of no were but it survives falls

@xACx7 i own a galaxy s2 and its amazingly fast but the atrix 2 is cool as well. but if you go to radio shack the atrix 2 is only 50 dollars. so i i was you i would with atrix 2. my dad is going to get the atrix 2 if you want ill keep you updated

This phone is better than the galaxy 2 & 3.. it better than all iphones 3,3gs,4,4s&5.... this phone does everything. I updated my software to the newest aos android operating system, and i looks qreat!! I love it, im not buy me another phone for a lonq time, this fulfills my everyphone needs. Lol kbyee:)

@phonedog yo man, got a doubt. i want to buy a cellphone with a high speed processor, beautiful interface and a great camera... all in the same. i was thinkin about the atrix 2, the motorola X2 MB870 (verizon), the moto Photon MB855, HTC Evo 3D, HTC Amaze and the HTC Z710E sensation. i khow it's too much cell phones to choice kkk but you seems to know everything about them. sooo... i'll be really thankful if you give me some help :))

Could any one give me info on the galaxy nexus prime release date? They said that it's going to be 19th of october (yesterday) but i didn't see any video on the release.
The first Atrix is wayyyyyy better.The first Atrix has a fingerprint scanner,smaller screen,and a dual core processor :)

@zocw1239 My fingerprint doesn't work no more after 6 month, I think it's kinda useless because it's hard to click the power button and then swipe finger.

Why does one need to get a 4s? Android beats them in almost every department and does a good enough job at imitating Siri, then there are the plethora of voice based apps in the marketplace.
