Whats your favorite custom feature or accessory on your kayak?

Same color Hobie, but a 2017, PA12. My favorite accessories are my DIY made kydex nose guard, converted the solid 180 drive fins into kick-ups w/ turbo fins, YakAttack lever lock anchor trolly system, Boonedox landing gear wheels and aluminum rudder. That is all…so far, lol!

Very nice! I have a PA14 360 coming any day, so a walk through of that will be coming soon. Some exciting upgrades! The outback is sticking around, I love that thing. Thanks for watching!

Dune is easily one of my favorite Hobie colors! The PA14 I ordered is in Blue Camo, though.

Great video. Thanks for the tips. Question: Do you find your kayak to be less stable since you raised the seat almost four inches?

Hey Alan thanks for watching! Building the seat risers and lifting it up made literally no change to the Outback's stability. I had a slight concern it might affect it but it did not. Even when backwards in the seat on my knees and reaching over to the very back getting in the hatch it was the same stability it always had. Raising the seat was probably the best modification I ever did to the Outback.

@@PenguinOutdoors Couldn't agree with you more. I shared the info with my local Hobie dealer and they were pleased to hear about your hack. I'm based in New Orleans and fish Southeast, LA. Where are you fishing these days?

That's a super nice rig! I've been looking at the Hobies now for a few months... I think that the outback will be my choice. I owned a used one several years ago and wish I had never sold it. A couple of questions for you:
Does drilling the holes in the hull void the warranty?
Is that an aftermarket keel guard on the bow?
    Tight lines!

Thanks for watching! Drilling into the hull does not void the warranty, there are many Hobie accories that require that. Some like the add on hatch for the outback actually require cutting a giant hole in the hull. As for the keel guard it is aftermarket. I posted a video recently reviewing it :) Tight lines!

How much was kayak and how much in upgrades. Curious. New to this kayak think and doing research.. thanks in advance

Hey Mark thanks for watching! Like any man's hobbies sometimes it gets hard to account for it all, but I'll try lol. So the 2021 Outback itself from Hobie was in the ballpark of $3400. The majority of my upgrades are DIY, sponsorship items, and some Hobie stuff. Without doing the hard math for someone to purchase the add on's and build the same DIY things, etc there is around about $1800 more into it.
