Sonic 1 < Mario < Sonic 2 (although it’s close and my opinion can change as I watch it again and take time to digest)

-Spoilers for Both Movies-
In terms of the Final Battle, Mario Movie's was good and followed through on the bros' dynamic, but it wasn't as lengthy or well drawn out as Sonic Movie 2's. Sonic 2's had a greater emotional high in the final battle in the city with the Death Egg Robot, along with the Super Sonic payoff to end it, which was arguably more impactful than the Super Star.
My reasoning is simply that the Master Emerald/Chaos Emeralds were heavily involved in the plot beginning halfway into the film, to the point both Eggman and Sonic utilise them. Bowser, on the other hand, gets the Super Star quite literally in the first opening scene of the film. He then keeps it floating in his fortress the whole remainder of the film where it's not used at all, only mentioned a few times, until Mario and Luigi get their hands on it and use it's power as a final gambit to win right at the end.
Your right actually I’m surprised he didn’t use the star but yeah also the final battle from sonic 2 was peak

I definitely think the sonic movie(s) are far superior than the Mario movies! The sonic film had a well established story (for the most part) properly developed characters (longclaw excluded) and Ben Schwartz could be the next sonic after roger Craig smith! Meanwhile the Mario movie failed in those areas and it’s why I’m more ambitious for future sonic movies than future Mario movies….times like this it really is true what they say “genesis does what Nintendon’t”
I am a big fan of Sonic The Hedgehog. The story is better, more humor, and the friendship of Sonic and Tails cant be beaten. The Sonic movies are so cool.

Mario movie was more about pleasing the crowd and not damaging the image. Sonic movie had heart... and Jim Carrey. Both were good films though.
I agree with you the way I see the sonic movies is like this : sonic the hedgehog 1 walks so Sonic the hedgehog 2 can run (yes pun intended), now with the super Mario Bros. I feel beats the first sonic the hedgehog movie with flying colors, however the Mario doesn’t beat sonic the hedgehog 2 and I feel there is more meat on it than the Mario movie the Mario movie was great and even with the barebones story it dose exactly what I want from the film and some more but the development of the characters and what I call the “ sweet moments” the big emotional beats of the film are spectacular however I just wished there was more

Personally I prefer the sonic movies because of the action, emotion and different take on the universe better sonic was different in the movie still had the cockiness but more like a kid and relatable with him learning to do it with others and becoming a hero plus new take on the story Mario however feels the same I like the beginning the most with the fight at the end but everything else was just the same and kinda rushed it was good but Sonic beats Mario in movie department:)

The Mario Movie was beautiful, but the story felt pretty bare. And it felt like everything was just happening one after another, the only real breaks being Luigi thinking about him and Mario as babies and the Fire Flower scene.

I’m just gonna say this: Movie Sonic is a BETTER take than Movie Mario since this is the first time we see Sonic seem more vulnerable. The sequel is a natural growth since he’s learning to become a better hero. But the narrative behind Sonic wanting somewhere to call home makes the first film enjoyable to rewatch. Also, seeing Robotnik slowly go mad because he can’t stop Sonic is so great. I don’t get why Bowser would treat Mario as a “worthy threat” the first time he hears of him. I’d expect him to burst out laughing, like DK seeing Cat Mario (STUPIDEST POWER-UP EVER)

yeah i’d have to agree with that the first sonic movie was decent but nothing incredible but the second one was definitely better in a lot of ways it definitely took the original source material and improved upon it which you don’t see very often in game to the movie industry because it’s so easy to completely ruin it

I grew up playing nintendo games and really wishing for a movie of mario and ngl, even if the movie is good I don't think is as good as the sonic movies (Also I feel like the movie it was a little bit too short)

After all, a surprising number of critics compared the Mario movie to the Mandalorian, the Power Rings and the MCU movies and talked about how the Mario movie has no plot, no story, and no pop culture references at all and also how it is too simple, too clear, too shallow, too light and too safe animated family movie only for 3 year olds with nothing to offer adults and Mario fans. And I wonder if the critics have even watched the movie or at least properly when theur arguments are like "all animated movie are bad because they are animated movies so I only gave one star." But despite the critics and some of their really ridiculous and absurd reviews, I really enjoyed this new Mario movie and liked it, it was a celebratory, fun and joyful movie and a relaxing and refreshing experience to watch. The biggest cons was the film's pacing problem, which weakened it but didn't spoil or ruin it, and other smaller ones were Luigi's too little screen time and the fact that Peach and the Mushroom Kingdom were not properly introduced to the audience which could have easily been fixed by making the movie a bit longer.But the audience, like me, liked it and possibly there will be more movies; for example, there has apparently already been talk of a Super Smash Bros movie that would bring different Nintedo characters together in the same match and the animated series that based on the Zelda franchise.

The Mario movie beats sonic one and sonic two hands down the characters are way more enjoyable and there dynamics were really good the comedy didn’t ruin any of the key moments in the film and the characters weren’t making me cringe and the movie actually uses the music from the games and remixes some of it unlike the sonic movies and this is coming from someone who used to love sonic way more than mario and jamming to sonic music frequently

My opinion is that Mario is slightly better because the sonic films were honestly quite bland and to me it just felt like the 20 Millionth film where Alien like creature meets human and hijinks occur. Sonic 2 fixes this but 1/4th of the run time was the human scenes, (which I liked) which took up to much of the time. Btw the final fight is peak at Mario 10/10 Sonic 2 was really good 9/10 and was there even a fight scene in sonic 1 😂(jkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjk) btw if anyone knows I like the sonic game series a lot more than the Mario ones. I love these 2 films.

Ya I definitely like the plot of Sonic Movie 2 over Mario Movie, tho it's not saying much since Sonic n gang would get more development n hyper story. Still theres alot things I like from Mario Movie over Sonic Movie 2 like music, comedy, and even pacing. Music, I somewhat get why Paramount didn't use much Sonic music for both movies since they felt like it would be out of place for the story, but after watching the Mario Movie, naw seriously Paramount take notes from the Mario Movie and use it for Sonic Movie 3 (If Live n Learm doesn't show up for the final boss, then that's a huge miss opportunity). Not saying Sonic Movie 3 would be an L movie if theres no classic Sonic music since it way more important for a movie to have an interesting plot rather than spoon feeding audiences with references. But still I felt like the Sonic Movies were kinda empty compared to Mario Movie. If Paramount at least bring City Escape n Live n Learn for Sonic Movie 3, then it would lvl up the hype for the plot even more imo. Comedy, I thought Knuxs carried the comedy. Jim Carrey was fine as a threat but for comedy, he was a bit too much especially when he jumped on the police car n flossed. Sonic, he did made me giggle but still not out loud laugh cuz what kinda ruin him is the fart jokes n pop culture references. Seriously Illumination, the ones who milked Despicable Me, they barely use those cheap jokes for the Mario Movie. I still like Ben as Sonic, but I hope Movie 3 comedy gets way better for Sonic. And finally pacing, while Mario Movie pacing felt fast n short to the point where it needed a 1 hrs 45 or 50 min to give more development to some characters, still Sonic Movie 2 pacing felt like too fast n split. The beginning felt fast with Eggman meeting Knuxs, Tom teaching Sonic a lesson after he speculatorly fails saving the driver from bank robberies n flooded the streets, Tails introduction, n then Sonic chilling alone with his dog until Eggman n Knuxs drop in to fight Sonic. All of that felt like it flash for 20 secs n each scene could have smooth together better imo. Plus the middle with the wedding was awkward. I didn't mind the wedding scene thxs to GUN funny introduction, but I felt like GUN deserve a better introduction n the wedding scene should have been cut short tbh. Overall tho, Sonic Movie 2 is still an 7.5 for me while Mario Movie is a 7.

I love The Mario Movie but Mario felt like he would meet somebody and then carry onto the next while Sonic Movie 2 never once felt that way to me.
The movie after all took time with developing Sonic's rivalry with Knuckles and as for Tails at least the movie had more scenes of them together where with Mario and Peach it was more like let's automatically go on this adventure and fall in love but we only have one emotional scene together but the rest of it is adventure.

The movie took it's time to introduce Tails into the movie and then meet up with Sonic.
You can have your own opinions yet I just do not understand how on earth the pacing was bad in the movie and I just feel like it's way too nitpicky, no offense.

They are both people who almost want the same thing. The rest of the movie develops their relationship together. Isn't that enough?

Remember the dance scene and wedding scene🙄. I don't mind both since the dance scene purpose was to get Sonic n Tails to have a brotherly bond while the wedding scene, I actually still thought it was goofy and a funny way to introduce G.U.N. But still I think there was better ways to get Sonic to connect with Tails and the wedding scene needs to be taking out or just shorter so the Sonic Movie 2 could focus on Sonic's story. Plus there's definitely a better way for Paramount to introduce G.U.N. I definitely on the side that Illumination needs to take notes from the Sonic Movies on making genuine bonds tho. Only one they done well in is Mario n Luigi's brotherly bond (Despite Luigi getting shafted in the middle of the movie), but the rest of the characters Mario meets have been rushed. I like Mario n DK dynamic but it's definitely weak compared to Sonic n Knuxs dynamic. Mario n DK only stick was they got disappointment fathers but never gone deep with that, where as Sonic n Knuxs are tragic characters who have tribes that killed each other for the master emerald. They both been alone because of their tribes fighting each other but manage to connect to each other because they just talk it out. Not the most masterful writing, but still Illumination needs to take notes for Mario Movie 2.
