I recommend just getting yourself a cheap Bluetooth transmitter as you're more than likely going to forget it when you deplane - especially if the connection is in the armrest of the seat rather than in front of you. A low latency cheap transmitter will do the job just fine.
Thanks Dave. Got a man - Orlando flight this year so may prove useful. Quite happy to have a wired connection on one of our headphones but on Emirates we plugged it into the larger of the 2 holes and it was intermittent. Maybe a dodgy seat?
Yes, it could be a dodgy seat. The two prong adapter might be needed on some flights. I’m finding most have already converted the doubles to singles now so you should be fine. Eating on a plane with Bluetooth headphones is a game-changer. Try not to look too smug on your way to Orlando!!! 😎👍 Have a great trip!
@@LifeOfReillyTV Yeah they're switching to single port headphone jacks now because most people are opting to use their own headsets when traveling. The double input jack was originally there to stop passengers from stealing the headphones and it also presented the airlines with a good opportunity to rent them out because they knew your headphones couldn't connect to their system. They were crafty like that.
Nooo. How weird. It should have worked. Did you manage to pair anything to your AirFly? Apple sells the AirFly themselves now, and says it’s compatible with all AirPods. www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/HNNT2ZM/A/twelve-south-airfly-pro-bluetooth-transmitter Hopefully, it works on the way home!!
No way. I'd assume all of these would work. We used them for real and fake airpods, plus a random over-ear brand and it worked with all of those. Good luck!
I don’t have Galaxy Buds, but my guess is that you put them into Pairing mode. You then put the transmitter into pairing mode and you should be away. You can practice on an old stereo/car radio/TV with a headphone jack.
I have found that the two Jack ports have all pretty much been turned into one port - on transatlantic flights anyway, so you should be ok. I already had a two Jack adapter that turns into the usual single Jack, so you could buy one of those. They’re not very expensive. I’ve not had to use it for a while though.
Absolutely! Is Emirates not Bluetoothing straight to AirPods yet? I took a Virgin Atlantic flight this year which didn’t need the adapter. You can’t guarantee what plane you’ll be on though, I guess.
I haven’t tested it myself, as I don’t have Pros, but it works with all Apple headphones according to the manufacturer. And no-one hasn’t said it doesn’t work with them on here, either. Enjoy! 🎧
Ahh, they all have little quirks. Usually, you need to hold down the transmitter button for five seconds and put your headphones into pairing mode...and they connect. Let me know if you're still struggling. You can practice at home with a laptop headphone output.
@@LifeOfReillyTV depends on the plane. some have a single aux some have odd 3 prong ones some use 2 etc its a bit of a dogs breakfast. the only one you really need is the 2 prong adapter just in case it has 2 prongs and then you can use it without the adapter if its just 1
Something I've been wondering about is that do you still get a good audio only plugging in one prong in a two-prong audio system? Are the outputs between the single-prong and dual-prong adapters the same? And does the feed sound the same as plugging in earphones provided by the airline (which are dual-prong)? Thanks
Hi Al, I’ve found that most airlines have updated the two prong, as older aircraft only supply one prong headphones. If you do find yourself on a “two prong” plane, you can buy an adapter which turns a two prong into one. They’re really cheap. Ever since I bought the adapter, I don’t think I’ve used it since 2010. Hope this helps. 😀👍
@@LifeOfReillyTV Retired from the airlines 5 years ago. All aircraft in North America use one prong audio. Two prong was eliminated many many years ago. Dont know about European airlines, but this is the current standard in North America
a bluetooth transmitter doesn't have a "volume". It's not sending analog signals, it's forwarding digital signal information and additionally an information about the playback volume. This can be from 0 to 100 and the only thing that's deciding on how loud it is, is the input signal from the screen. You probably didn't put it on max volume. Your bluetooth headphones will always be from 0 to 100% of the input volume, regardless if you set it on your headphones or on the bluetooth transmiter and regardless on which transmitter.
hi there! Thanks for posting this video! How do you pair your specific AirPods to it? What stops it from accidentally pairing with someone else’s AirPods?
Hi Daniel, you have to press a button to pair and search for the adapter. I doubt many other people will be in range and searching for a device at that exact time. Also, most people don’t want to pair to something they don’t know because it could be a scam. Once you’ve paired, no-one else can get it. 😀
No worries. Enjoy a flight without wires!! Eating and sleeping are even better. Don’t even get me started on how funny it is to listen to your show in the bathroom!! 😂🤣
Hi, thanks for the review! I'm thinking on buying the Jabra Élite 7 that seem to have around 500ms lag... Combined to lag of the AirFly, would that work well on an airplane film do you think? Cheers and keep up with the good work!
Hi Liryc, I’ve never worn a pair of Jabra Elites so I can’t tell you, for sure. It’s sounds like a winning combo. Let us know how you get on and others can find out from your review. 😎👍
Thanks for your response. When you say in the video that the AirFly "latency is a bit laggy" and that it spoiled the film.... That sounds quite horrible. I'd buy this for long flights (so watching 2+ movies). If there is some lag that must be un watchable is it ? Not sure I'd spend 50€ on such item if it's to get lag.. Was it that laggy?
Some IFEs have usb port so you can still charge the Bluetooth antenna.

was there any issues connecting the air fly into a 2 prong adapter?
Not at all. It's a simple piece of kit. 😀

Yes, I’m sure it would. It has the right Jack.

You put the transmitter in the headphone Jack and that Bluetooths it to your AirPods. 😀👍
Hope do you pair the transmitter to your Bluetooth headphones?
don't you loose stereo when you've only got the one jack going in to a 2 jack receiver?
You might be right but the seatbacks often only use one Jack these days, anyway.
