I have just found these videos from David guzik and I was wondering what that anchor in the back drop is all about. It appears to give a nautical look to the background but David doesn't do things without a purpose so I was just wondering what the story. I love all David guzik's videos. Spot on biblically

Hey Eleanor, we used the anchor as a visual for a theme through Hebrews, taken from Hebrews 6:19: “This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil.” Hope that makes sense, and thanks for watching and commenting. Plus, my mom’s name is Eleanor. Blessings to you

@@DavidGuzikEnduringWord Is Jesus the “God” referred to at Hebrews 1:8?
No. The weight of the evidence indicates that it is Jehovah. According to the New World Translation, Hebrews 1:8 says: “But with reference to the Son: ‘God is your [the Son’s] throne forever and ever.’” This shows that Jesus’ throne, his office or authority as a sovereign, has its source in Jehovah the Almighty God.
However, believers in the Trinity prefer the Authorized Version, or King James Version, which renders Hebrews 1:8 this way: “But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever.” Thus, they feel that Jesus is shown to be the same as Almighty God. Why is this not correct?
First, note the context. In many translations, either in the main text or in the margin, Hebrews 1:9 reads, “God, your God, anointed you.” This makes it clear that the one addressed in verse eight is not God, but one who worships God and is anointed by him.
Secondly, it should be noted that Hebrews 1:8, 9 is a quotation from Psalm 45:6, 7, which originally was addressed to a human king of Israel. Surely the writer of this psalm did not think that this human king was Almighty God and neither did the writer of Hebrews think that Jesus was Almighty God. Commenting on this, scholar B. F. Westcott said: “It is scarcely possible that אלוהים [‘Elo·himʹ, “God”] in the original can be addressed to the king. . . . Thus on the whole it seems best to adopt in the first clause the rendering: God is Thy throne (or, Thy throne is God), that is ‘Thy kingdom is founded upon God.’”
With good reason, therefore, the New World Translation and a number of other translations render Hebrews 1:8 as, “God is your throne.” (See An American Translation, Moffatt; also the marginal reading in American Standard Version, Revised Standard Version and The New English Bible.) This makes it clear that the “Son,” Jesus Christ, has a God who is higher than he is.

Based on Ephesians 1:13, and Acts 11:15-17, we receive the Spirit upon coming to faith in Christ.
The Spirit is the master teacher foretold in John 14:26.
The New Covenant fulfillment is found in 1 John 2:27.
Eight times in Matthew chapter 5 Christ quotes from the Old Covenant and then contrasts it to the New Covenant with the words "But I say...".

Around 7:00 we are asked, from verse 3, what did jesus bring to us?
Jesus brought the washing of the feet.
I do not understand how one might say jesus brought the Lamb of God, Jesus was God's little lamb of perfect fatness readied to be consumed by the need of Gods children to nourish the spirit that God put into them, in the hope that they might be cleansed from the filth of their thought and actions.

Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the
    house of Judah:
    Eze 37:19 Say
unto them, Thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the
tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and
make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
God establishes a “New Covenant with the House of Judah and with the House of
Israel, and the two shall be made ONE in our Messiah! Has Judah and Israel been
rejoined as One, and back into His land? Who is Israel?
    House of Israel
Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye
are all one in Christ Jesus. Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs
    according to the promise.
    JEREMIAH
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, says the LORD,
I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they
shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity,
and I will remember their sin no more.
Jer 32:39 And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me forever, for the good of them, and of their
    children after them:
Jer 32:40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I
will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.
Jer 32:41 Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my
    whole soul
    EZEKIEL
Eze 36:24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you (Judah and Israel) out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
Eze 36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will
    I cleanse you.
Eze 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will
give you an heart of flesh.
Eze 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do
    them.
Eze 37:13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,
Eze 37:14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have
spoken it, and performed it, says the LORD.
Eze 37:21 And say unto them, Thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen,
whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
    REVELATION
Rev 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defiles, neither whatsoever works abomination,
or makes a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. (And “Not Blotted Out, Rev. 3:5, after Judgment)
Rev 21:7 He that overcomes shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
God will put “His Spirit” in them, and “His Law” in their inward parts and write “His Law” in their hearts, and they (us) will “keep His judgments, AND DO THEM”! They will be placed in the land God promised. They shall inherit all things! “We will not depart from God”, don’t we now depart from God, because of our sin? God will, “remember their sins no more”! Do we still sin today? Is “Repentance” still a requirement? Isn’t this a time of “no more sin”? ... “they shall teach no more”, Do we still need “Teachers”, today?
Law (in Jeremiah and Ezekiel): translates Torah (the first five books of our Bibles). Do you KNOW and DO ALL that’s in the Torah perfectly
today? Are there still those “in the graves”? Have we been resurrected? Have we been “Baptized by God”, cleansed with the living water, and have a “new heart” to walk perfectly with our God? Did someone, “plucked up, or thrown down” New Jerusalem?
    NEW JERUSALEM
    JEREMIAH
Jer 31:38 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of
Hananeel unto the gate of the corner.
Jer 31:39 And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and
    shall compass about to Goath.
Jer 31:40 And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the LORD; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more forever.
    EZEKIEL
Eze 37:27 My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Eze 37:28 And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.
Eze 36:35 And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited.
    REVELATION
Rev 21:10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
Rev 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
Rev 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
Rev 21:24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honor into it. Rev 21:25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
This (Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Revelation) describe the “City of God, New Jerusalem”! Has New Jerusalem come down out of heaven? Do we still have a sun and a moon? Is anyone able to destroy it?
    HEBREWS
Heb 8:13 In that he says, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decays and waxes old is ready to vanish away.
Has heaven and earth passed away? Is it not us and this earth that is decaying, waxing old, and ready to vanish? Will His Kingdom on earth decay or wax old or vanish?
Mat 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Rev 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
The reason Hebrews brings up the New Covenant, decades after the Messiah had risen from the grave, is to remind us of what Jeremiah and Ezekiel were prophesying, “A New Heaven and a New Earth with a New and better Covenant and Mediator”, that we will no longer break His Covenant, and all will be fulfilled!
Heb 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

Can you help me understand where this is coming from and how you would respond to a teacher who chose to yell and scream his lecture at you? Much appreciated.

The peace covenant is not in existence yet. The proof of this is because we still have pastors teaching people to "know the Lord". 1 John 2:3-4 tells us what knowing God means and it means to keep Gods commandments. This would indicate that the peace covenant has not come into effect yet. Also if his instructions where in your hearts and minds, you would be able to keep all of his commandments perfectly. The only time that we will be able to keep his laws will be when we gain our glorified bodies in the resurrection. This is what he means when he takes out the stony heart(corrupted body) out of us and places the heart of flesh(incorruptible body)into us. Please read carefully the following verses. Shalom...
Jeremiah @-34 Common English Bible (CEB) 33 No, this is the covenant that I will make with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my Instructions within them and engrave them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 34 They will no longer need to teach each other to say, “Know the Lord!” because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord; for I will forgive their wrongdoing and never again remember their sins.
1 John 2:3-4 common English Bible (CEB)
3 This is how we know that we know him: if we keep his commandments. 4 The one who claims, "I know him," while not keeping his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in this person.

Is Jesus the “God” referred to at Hebrews 1:8?

Scriptures defining the “New Covenant”, a New Covenant in New Jerusalem!
Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel (Believers in the Messiah, Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
(We are the seed of Abraham, IF…Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are you Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise., and with the house of
    Judah:)
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake (As All in this body have), although I was an husband unto them, says the LORD: (We ALL are guilty (Rom. 3:23) and are unable to keep His commandments perfectly) But in the Millennial Reign we will! NEW BODY/NEW COVENANT Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, says the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts (Not Yet happened), and write it in their hearts (Not Yet happened); and will be their God, and they shall be my people. (We don’t have His laws written in our hearts by Him now, and we don’t even fully understand all His laws today…) Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor (We still need teachers),and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. (We still need teachers, and the scriptures are clear on that fact. The least to the greatest don’t fully know Him. How can we be forgiven of sins we as a people, those living and yet to be born, haven’t yet committed? We must “Repent”! When does He “remember our sins NO MORE”? “He remembers their sins no more” is in a future time and place, because He knows our continued sinning today. The Day we are “Redeemed”! Luk
21:28, Rom 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.)
Jer 31:38 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner. (This is NEW JERUSALEM) Jer 31:39 And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath. Jer 31:40 And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the LORD; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more forever. (This is “New Jerusalem”, the place of the “New Covenant”!)
The “Old Covenant” hasn’t vanished away!
Heb 8:13 In that he says, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that
which decays and waxes old is ready to vanish away. (He’s coming soon!)
The “Old Covenant” hasn’t disappeared yet, we are all still under it.
Heb 12:23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, (Have we been made perfect? We will be! NOT YET!)
Heb 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better things than that of Abel. (When we will be “reconciled” (Mediator = Reconciler) by Him in His Kingdom on earth, New Jerusalem.)
    Same thing written in Jeremiah!
Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of
Judah: Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, says the LORD: Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, says the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
    PROOF!
    The very next chapter:
Jer 32:37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries (Judah and Israel (Us) haven’t been gathered back to New Jerusalem), whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely: Jer 32:38 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God: Jer 32:39 And I will give them one heart (We’re definitely NOT in UNITY), and one way, that they may fear me forever (Can’t be done 24/7 in this body), for the good of them, and of their children after them (In the “Kingdom Age”): Jer 32:40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them (He turns from us when we sin, 1Pe 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against
them that do evil.), to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me. (Anytime we sin we, “Depart from Him”)
We either have a “New Covenant”, or we don’t! He didn’t say, “I’m giving you TODAY a “Partial Covenant”! He made it clear it’s in “New Jerusalem”! OUR HOPE IN HIM!!!

Sounds like a good excuse to keep living under law and keep sinning. The blood of Jesus is more powerful then the blood of sheep's and goats. Redeemed from not only the penalties of sin but also the power of sin. You can pick which covenant you want, I choose the new.

According to the new covenant we no longer need teachers, also it's a time when He "remembers our sin no more"...
Just on these two alone, and there's more, it directly contradicts the N. T..
It would mean we don't need to repent, and we don't need to go unto to all the world and make disciples... It would invalidate many teachings of our Messiah. Also in the context of the new covenant it's speaking of a time when New Jerusalem comes down, as it also says in Revelations.
What does it say in Hebrews? Does it say we are in the new covenant, no, it says "behold the days come...", and not "we've been in the days... This was written and published decades after Jesus ascended. Has a new covenant been established with the house of Judah and the house of Israel?
We have a "New Testament" in Jesus, and He is that "testator" that had to die for us to receive our inheritance, eternal life. The things spoken of in Jeremiah and Ezekiel are obviously not in this present age, so go and preach the gospel and continue to repent of your sins...

Also you said, "sounds like a good excuse to keep living under the law and keep sinning"???
How does the Word describe sin?
1John 3:4 Whosoever commits sin transgresses the law: FOR SIN IS THE TRANSGRESSION of the law.
Keeping God's law is how you love God and others!
      1John 5:2
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, AND keep His commandments.
