Sprinkle the seasoning packet that comes with the corned beef over the top. Continue to cook until the time is up and the vegetables are tender. Slice the roast against the grain for best results
Ive been thinking about beef and cabbage for days now and was going to the store to get some ingredients.....then your recipe popped up.....I thought omg she read my mind or I read hers....lol. Love the recipe!!!! So glad to see it!!!
Can I cook this on high for 4-6 hours? I didn't realize corned beef is already cooked. I want to make it Sunday and throw it in in the morning so we can have it for lunch
Was just looking for a recipe for corned beef and cabbage for St. Paddy's Day next week! Thank you, Juila and Brinley for demonstrating this one---it looks so good! Have a great week! ❤😊
Best helper ever! This recipe brings back memories! I have not made what our family called, "a boiled dinner" in years, health issues. Yummy! Thank you Julia for the delicious memory and recipe! 😊❤
Oh, thank you so very much! Yes, she absolutely loves to help in the kitchen🤗 so glad it brought back good memories, you have a wonderful rest of your week!!
Corned beef and cabbage is such a comfort meal 😋. I always ask my mom to make it in the winter months and she makes it into more of a soup. I love it ❤
That’s interesting! Thanks so much for sharing what your mother does with the corned beef. Thanks for your positive comment and have a great rest of your weekend🙌🏼
You absolutely can do it that way! Thank you so very much for sharing how you make your corned beef. I sure hope you have a great rest of your weekend😊
Use low sodium beef broth, throw away the seasoning packet, add 5 whole peppercorns, 2 Bay leaves, and pearl onions. Yes add carrots towards the end. Remove the cornbeef strain the broth into a pot, add Cabbage and boil.
This is my favorite meal my mom used to make it all the time back when corned beef was cheaper than it is now of course It was the poor person's meal. Now it's become such a hot commodity that they jacked up the price. I can't wait to make it for Saint Patrick's Day
Need a beer for a liquid added flavor. Guinness as many do or even an American Lager is okay. My dad always said, on St Patrick’s Day, it is called; corned beef and cabbage. All other days of the year, we called it boiled dinner. In our house celery was a must add veggie along with potatoes, carrots and a big amount of cabbage.
Thank you, sweetheart Julia, with a Special recipe, from a blessing lady. God bless your grandmother, for truly, grandparents, r a true blessing. I want also to add, the precious little Leprechaun,☘️, who made this recipe special, with her busy happy hands. Thanks again, and God bless you and all your dear ones. 🥰👍🙏✝️👏☘️🌷💫⭐️
Thank you so much for your question. It is kind of difficult to explain, but when you look at the meat it runs a certain way either to the left or to the right. You just cut the opposite way. If you don’t do it this way, it won’t change the taste though😊
Save yoursrlf 8 hrs. I Cook in 30 minutes super tender in tupperware microwave pressure cooker. Cut cornbeef in half. Add water to cover, carrot onion celery leek black pepper herbs apple cider vinegar brown sugar.. I cook veg seperate. Make NZ Edmonds cookbook cornbeef white mustard sauce it uses some of the liquid. It's amazing
My mom made The best corned beef for Easter dinner. I'm a pretty good cook, but for life of me I've never been able to make a tender corned beef! I gave up! I've tried oven, stove, and slow cooker. Always tough. I don't know what I do wrong
The one thing that I know for sure based on the mistakes I’ve made in the past is that corn beef has to be cooked slow and low and not high heat. High heat definitely makes it tough. I hope this helps!
My poor daughter will never know cabbage is a normal part of St Patty’s day, I have a life-threatening cabbage allergy, but I’m definitely using this recipe this year, just omitting the cabbage! Thanks Julia! ❤
This is so crazy to see. My aunt and I went to Kingsoopers today and they had corned beef on sale. 5lbs for $6.00! Right!? We didn't know how to make it but I looked it up on Google, then here you are. Alright then woman. Thank you. Oh, it was just meat to me because my 29 year old son came back to live with me and he is a carnivore. Not St.Paddy day.
Thank you so much for your question! If you go to the comments section in the short video in the lower right, you will find the recipe written out for you there. I hope you enjoy😊

😋
Yum!
I do corn beef, potatoes and carrots with seasoning and a bottle of Guinness .I do cabbage separate ,with some of broth from crock pot. yum
Why do you do the cabbage separate?
Sounds Amazing!
Thank you so very much for sharing what you do, Robin🙌🏼
Some people like their cabbage less mushy. Cooking it separately guves you more control over the doneness.
I just bought a ton of corned beef- St Patty’s sale! I cook mine in the Instant pot- 1.5 hours! Yum 💕
Definitely another great way to cook corned beef, Diana! I hope you enjoy it💜💜

You absolutely can do it that way! Thank you so very much for sharing how you make your corned beef. I sure hope you have a great rest of your weekend😊
Have always made mine on the stovetop also. This year I'll be making it Julia's way.
Use low sodium beef broth, throw away the seasoning packet, add 5 whole peppercorns, 2 Bay leaves, and pearl onions. Yes add carrots towards the end. Remove the cornbeef strain the broth into a pot, add Cabbage and boil.

I will be making mine on St Patrick day ❤
Awesome! Sure hope you enjoy🍀
I'm making this for the forst time how do I cut against the grain?
Thank you so much for your question. It is kind of difficult to explain, but when you look at the meat it runs a certain way either to the left or to the right. You just cut the opposite way. If you don’t do it this way, it won’t change the taste though😊
Peppercorn !!
I've never seen anybody make cabbage like this before but that is a great idea I will have to try that the next time I make my cabbage😁😍🤩🥰💛🧡🖤🤟🤟🤟
I sure hope you enjoy it this way, Marie! Thanks so much for your positive comment💜

Im smokin mine in pur traegar and turning iit into Reubens.
Mmmm. Reubens. I'll be having at least one of those this time around.
Perfect! That will be amazing, Heather🙌🏼🙌🏼
The momentary worried look on your daughters face when you dropped the corned beef into the crock pot made me giggle. ❤
She’s just so funny! Thanks so much and happy it made you smile today, Jana😊
I do mine the same way, except I use Guinness or Sam Adams in the place of water... turns out amazing every time 😊
Sounds great!
Haaaa I have the same crock pot. It’s the best. Program and go…
It really is a great one, also! Thanks so much for watching😊
❤☘️☘️😋 I do it the same way but in a giant tamale pot on the stove on low . Yummy cant wait !!😋😛☘️☘️
Sounds great!😊
My mom made The best corned beef for Easter dinner. I'm a pretty good cook, but for life of me I've never been able to make a tender corned beef! I gave up! I've tried oven, stove, and slow cooker. Always tough. I don't know what I do wrong

Carrot and potato is going to rake longer than an hour. Do you par cook them or something
I cut mine up into smaller pieces to help them cook quicker. If you cut them larger, I would put them in at least 2 1/2 hours before serving😊
Never made corned beef and cabbage before but im gonna be trying to now!! If Julia making it- it's gonna be goo-od!
I hope you love it, Donna! Thank you so much for your positive comment😊
CN you explain what “against the grain” means? I’ve always heard the term but still can’t figure it out
You gotta rub it with mustard first. ❤
My poor daughter will never know cabbage is a normal part of St Patty’s day, I have a life-threatening cabbage allergy, but I’m definitely using this recipe this year, just omitting the cabbage! Thanks Julia! ❤
You definitely can do that! Thank you so much for your positive, and I hope you all enjoys it😊
St Pattys day??
We don't eat corn beef with cabbage in Ireland. This is pure USA.
Next time put the spices in a cheese cloth with a long string attached. Less mess and you don't have to pick it out of your food.
The spices are my favorite part. I love them mixed in and just eat them. Are they not supposed to be edible?
Sometimes they use Bay Leaves. Can't eat those. You can add more Pickling Spices for more flavor
Thanks so much for sharing that. I usually just eat the meat and haven’t noticed that. I sure do appreciate you sharing that great tip though😊
My corned beef is always so salty...i rinse it well but still salty. Any tips?
Potatoes will help to lessen the salt flavor.
Thank you so very much for your question! You can definitely rinse it first before cooking and it will reduce the saltiness😊
You're pulling our leg. Your grandma didn't toss the entire package with the plastic into the crock pot LOL.
This is so crazy to see.
My aunt and I went to Kingsoopers today and they had corned beef on sale. 5lbs for $6.00! Right!?

Tasteless.naa😮
Im not picky with my food, but come on now.
Came out terrible going back to my original cooking method
Oh no! I am so very sorry to hear that🥴
You are missing onions
Yes , let's toss it plastic wrapper and all into the crockpot. You are kidding.
THUMBS DOWN.
Is that fat side up?
It was and she said fat side up. 👍
Yes! Fat side up. I sure hope you enjoy🙌🏼
Darling daughter
Thank you so much😀
