I think the #1 reason to get the 1P is that it fits more tent sites thanks to the 17” narrower fly footprint. The weight savings would be a strong #2.

Excellent comparison! I actually didn’t realize the only difference between the two is the width. I agree with you that the 1P is probably what I would use most of the time. I have the 2P (v1) and the 1P wasn’t out yet. I don’t think it was even talked about at that time. I think I would have picked the 1P over the two just because of how I backpack. That being said I do love my 2P and I don’t think it is too big for me at all. But the 1P would have been my pick. If I could only go back in time. PS I was impressed with your acrobatics. I would have broke a hip. 👍

Great review! Thanks so much. Just wanted to be clear that the weight difference between the two is 19.6 vs. 16.4. So for an additional 3.2 oz you get the 2 person version. That’s not a lot of weight for a lot more room in my opinion. Thanks again

I have the Pro I used it on a thru of the Tahoe Rim Trail last month. Easy to set up, excellent pace inside and you can set it up on a variety of surfaces fairly easily. I've had a few other trekking pole tents that are very poplar and this on checks the most boxes for me.

This is the head to head comparison that should have been done awhile ago. Thanks for doing this one!
Although, im still just as undecided as i was before, lol.
I have the sil-poly 2p and my wife and dog now have the 1p sil-poly because my 2p was "wayyy to big for her and the dog!" I love both of our x-mids equally. I like way to much extra room but i like cutting weight when there is planty of room. Im really wanting an x-mid pro. Im thinking i will eventually have both and maybe even the 2p plus pro thats coming soon. I will most likely buy the 1p pro first as it will suit me well and price is definitely cheaper. Lets not forget the weight savings. Then the 2p pro and eventually the 2p plus pro.
Yes, i have a problem. I might be addicted to x-mids and cant get over this addiction. To be honest, im not even trying.

I have to XMid 2P (non-pro) I love it. My only complaint is the footprint is kind of big for some of places I go. But, it has room for me and my dog so it's worth it. I recently picked up the TarpTent Rainbow so I have something with a smaller foot print for solo trips.

I own the X Mid 2p. I'm 6"3 so I love the space but I saw a reply by Durston that said he may be offering mix and match fly/inner in the future. If that happens I'm getting a 1P Pro fly with a seperate mesh interior to better protect against condensation and bugs in this humid south, save weight and have more site options. My pick between these 2 would probably still be the 2P pro since there's less likely I'll be getting condensation all over my stuff (I can't help but bump into tent walls being as tall and lanky as I am)

I have the X-mid 1P. With respect to interior room, I don't want a large space for my extra gear. I want little gear in my sleeping space. If my gear is wet or dirty, I don't want it touching my quilt or pad. The X-mid 1 has ample space for my extra gear on one side vestibule and it still leaves me an entire side vestibule for entry or even cooking in bad weather.

Just bought the X-Mid Pro 2 Plus, because of the room. I do trail work for several days at a time, and need a place for all of my stuff inside the tent, and the X-Mid 1 (or most other 1 person tents) doesn't have the room for all my stuff, especially if I need to keep wet work clothes away from my sleep system. I suspect it would be the same story if you are the kind of backpacker that hikes into an area, then day hikes out to explore for a few days. Great review, helps make an informed decision.

The X-Mid Pro 1 is quite a bit longer inside than the regular X-Mid 1 because you have space right out to the fly wall. The X-Mid Pro 1 fly is almost as long as the regular version fly (98" vs 100") so if you lay in your X-Mid 1 WITHOUT the inner and imagine it being 1" shorter at each end, that's how long the X-Mid Pro 1 is.
