I finally made a choice and the X-mid 1p is on the way. I’ve also ordered your preferred stakes. Thank you for helping me make an informed decision! I’ve never used a 1 person tent or a trekking pole tent, so I am hoping I’ll have better luck than you did in your montage!
@@WanderingSwitchback I envision some amount of cursing ahead, cuz the thought of knocking over a pole in the middle of the night could be disorienting! 🦆👽 Thanks for sharing your insights!
@@HamidShibataBennett thankfully, the only pole-knocking I've had has all been while I'm still awake, so hopefully, if you do experience it, that's the case for you, too!
I love my xmid 2 which is perfect for myself and my large dog (70lb standard poodle who is all legs), plus it comfortably fits my pack and whatever stuff I I like to unpack in there too.
Love the real talk. I could si feel your frustration in that montage. 😂 Sorry to laugh at your pain. I'd laugh if it was me too. But not until a few days later.
Watching this despite owning both the 1p and 2p X-Mids haha. I went with the 2P Solid for shoulder seasons, winter camping (awesome with just the fly!), and whenever I have someone with me who doesn't have all of the gear. I went with the 1P Pro as my main tent for summer, since here in Alaska, most of the hikes require you to climb a literal mountain lol. I think if I could only choose one, I'd just stick with the 2 person! Oh and as you mentioned, the width of the NON Pro is ideal because it fits the two wide pads :) Thank you for the video!!
Thank you! Durston makes addictive gear! I can't wait to get my hands on a 2P Solid for snow and desert conditions. I also realized today that the Pro 2+ has the same measurements as the regular 2P, which is nice for those wide pads!
The 1p has a reasonable footprint but the inner is a bit cramped. The 2p has plenty of space but HUGE footprint. The large vestibules are the feature and drawback of the current design. The 1p would benefit from more interior somehow and less vestibule.
2 fit easily in the 2P, which I have. The vestibules wrap around the ends, making them super useful. I’m 6’4, so a 2P was an easy choice. Unless the little extra weight is a big issue, the 2 is a no brainer!
My questions answered. Thanks.
You’re welcome! I hope you love whichever you choose!

Yay! I hope you love both purchases, and also that you are spared the same thing! 😂 Truly, it's still a great tent!

The 2P is definitely the right fit for all that! I'm glad you love it!

Haha, don’t apologize- I was laughing as I was editing! It’s always much funnier in hindsight- all those struggles in the moment are!
Lovely presentation as always my friend 👏👏
Always appreciated! 😊🤗
Thanks for the informative video!

I agree, it would be great to see that come to market somehow!
Can you fit 2 people in the xmid 1/2?
Yes, my wife and I have used two wide pads in it together. You’d want to share any two-person tent with someone you’re already close with!
@@WanderingSwitchback I agree! I don’t think I would want to be that close to a friend 🤣
