    President Trump has ratcheted up the United States' hard line policies on immigrants and immigration. In addition to seeking a border wall, aka Trumps wall, Trump has had many undocumented immigrants deported from the US. What happens to deportees and what happens to people who are deported? Some who go back to Mexico have a bright future at these call centers. These Mexican call centers hire US deportees. Deportation can be a struggle but this business offers professional support, career opportunity, and stability. There is life after deportation.

      @SL-lz9jr 3 года назад +4

      I don’t know what K1 is but I’m glad it worked out for your friend. I think if every country that receives US deportees can do something like this to give them support and utilize their skills, so many of them can rebuild their lives and have it end well. I worry that depression leads to suicide if they aren’t receiving the support they need to cope with the drastic change in their physical environment. A new country that you aren’t simply visiting for vacation seems quite shocking to me.

    • @c-light7624
      @c-light7624 3 года назад

      I like stories like that, regardless of the K1 visa situation. People all around the world are slowly waking up to the reality that America is not a paradise where material comforts are obtained easily. Unfortunately, some still think the U.S. is better than their own country for opportunities. People generally don’t want to leave their home countries and families, so if they had the necessary education, skills, safety, and support, they could do well in their own countries and not feel the need to go where they’re hated, despised, or simply not wanted. I hope the shift in thinking happens soon.

      @Cindy Cyanide it's not about any individual person overseas or the country that particular call center is located. That's not the point. The point is whoever implemented this practice of lying about their names only serves to comfort the feelings of closed minded and racist Americans. And to give the appearance the company has not moved jobs abroad.
      So I get why it's done but i don't agree with the practice at all.
      There is good value to having call centers abroad. It provides customers the possibility of 24 hours of support and gives that particular country jobs for it's citizens. But that's still no reason to start a call on a lie.
      You want my SSN? You want to verify my address? I'm giving all my info to someone who starts out a support call by lying. That's not how Customer Support should start. IMHO.

    Something that you ignore is that these call centers are runned by a french multinational that pays them cents on the dollar. For a 12 hour shift, starting salary is around $180 pesos per day...roughly $8.50 USD. And if you think the money convertion and exchange make up for the low cost of living in Mexico, you are sorely mistaken. Especially on border towns and big cities, living expenses are close to those of the US rather than Mexico's.

    What they dont mention in this little documentary is that the call centers pay $2.05 per hour. If they dont want spanish to keep going to the US at least pay a descent amount. Being in the call center industry it has lots of stress and metrics, ang weekly goals to reach. It is a really stressful job, professional in all aspects. They add tech service to the already customer service, for the same pay. It is hard to live with $450 or $550 a month. That's the base salary plus unreachable commisions. But unfortunatelly is the only source of income in any latin country that has a better pay then others, of course, if you know how to speak English. Lets see how many americans can live with that salary... and a call center is one of the "best paid jobs".

    They earn pennies in a mexican call center as the same on the rest of latin america (except for Costa Rica, Panama and some few more countries) US citizen are so fortunate and they don't realize that yet. It's not that US people earn that much money but beacuse of the way market works there, stuff are more affordable than in latin american countries. As a quick example you can get in the US a 90's used still working car for as much as $900 while the same car for example here in Guatemala would cost you at least Q20,000 while the minimum salary is around Q2,700. Imagine earning this salary but in US money, would yoy pay $20,000 for an used old car, would you pay $900 for a pair of basic tennis shoes or what about paying at least $1,500 of rent for a basic apartment in a bad neighborhood? Could you deal with it earning those $2,700 monthly? Thank god right now I'm earning more than the minimum wage otherwise I could,nt survive here.

    I'm from Argentina and I reside in the US undocumented. It's very hard and difficult because with this title comes alot of stigma that creates an intense hostile environment for us at times. But there are also great things here, this is why I started my immigration process after 35 years. I understand both sides and I have created a platform for those like me in order to break the stereotype as well as to advocate about doing things right if possible
