Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my concern. I can’t believe that you mentioned exactly the sad video I watched the other day about that lady. So sad and horrifying. I also have a Yorkshire and I get concerned about strolling with him. I hope East Boca or other places near the ocean have less alligators but as you said, we have to be on the alert at all times. I wish FL had a hunting season just as we have deer season up here in NH. Thank you Michael.
Michael, thank you for your love of our Beautiful City. We definitely are in the Best city in South Florida. What a great informational video. I am a third generation Floridian. My Great Grandparents came to So Florida in 1912. My Grandparents moved here from Miami Shores in the 70’s and my parents shortly followed. We absolutely Love our City too. So glad quality people like you and your family are moving here as well. Great video.
Thank you for your awesome videos and information on Boca. That is my number one place to retire with my family and get out of NH. As I watch this video I get so worried that an alligator can come out of the water or bushes. You don’t seem concerned at all. Do people in Florida carry something to protect themselves, in case of an attack? I have been very concerned about these attacks. What is the best way to defend yourself?
Thank you for commenting! Please reach out if you need help with the move down here to Boca. As for alligators, I always recommend people to never get into or at the edges any fresh body of water such as lakes and rivers especially if you cannot see the bottom. Most of them will just stay put or run away if they are scared. Just keep a look up while walking especially if you have a small dog or child. A while back in Florida, there was an older lady who was attack when she was walking her small dog next to a lake. The alligator was swimming out of the lake to eat the small dog. The older lady freaked out and tried to pick up her dog but didn’t move away and unfortunately ended up killed. Also, in south Florida, the closer you are to the Everglades, the closer you will be next to them in their habitat. I have lived in Florida my entire life and have seen alligators in their habitat near lakes and rivers. Canoed next to one. Never had them actually approach me. Most people in Florida just walk around freely without worrying too much. Just keep a lookout with your surroundings. If you wanted to an item to protect yourself still when you walk in nature trails, a walking stick is a possibility. If you want to live with water behind you, don’t just blindly leave your back doors open and start cooking.

boca raton means rats mouth in spanish.
Yes it does! Thanks for commenting.
The city is boca raton not boca ratonne. Spanish words not French. Thanks.
Thanks for pointing that out! I’ll work on the pronunciation in the future videos that I record. How long have you been in the area?
