    Once again, phenomenal content. One of the best resources for true restoration on the whole tube. Thanks so much!

    I really hate gamestop for adding stickers on top of the cover art. They are so stupid for doing that shit

    I use rosignol lighter fluid and they come off very easily with no damage, it also evaporates very quickly and doesnt damage the paper.

      Oh yeah! Ronson lighter fluid is on the list too! I've got toooons of videos coming up for cover art recovery!

    Dude, this is the channel I've been waiting my whole life for. Thank you my meticulous brother. 2 things... 1st, Heptane (Bestine) seems more toxic, but do you find it more gentle on cardboard artwork than Goo Gone? And 2, I would love to see a video on restoring crushed cardboard game boxes and manuals using the ironing method 👍.

      Heptane is used in the document world because of how quickly it evaporates. So it's definetly better to use on cardboard over GooGone. In essense it will dry before it can soak the cardboard (when used sparingly). GooGone on the other hand has a thickener it in (a byproduct of the petroleum glycol), which can absolutely wreck paper and cardboard.
      I got mixed feelings on ironing game boxes and manuals! I'll do a tutorial video for folks, but since the technique isn't permanent, it feels weird to show folks how to do it! Paper loves to evolve as it gets older! But it's def on the list!

    Awesome video always wondered if this can be done

      It absolutely can be! We've got 4 more methods to film and post too!
      I spent so many years putting stickers on cover arts while at GameStop, I gotta make up for it somehow!

    where can i buy heptane and what brands should i look for

    • @RestoreAndReplay
      @RestoreAndReplay  3 года назад +1

      Heptane is available from most chemical supply companies. Amazon sells it (in the states) through the brands "Bestine" or as "Doc Edington's". You'll see it commonly referred to as "rubber cement remover" or "rubber cement thinner".

    Will this work for things like the clear top portion of games like Xbox etc, since GameStop and places sticker the hell out of those.

      Clear top portion of the case? Like on the front?
      If so, this method will work, but is a bit of overkill. The methods shown in my Heptane and GooGone videos are perfect for removing Gamestop stickers from the top right front corner. But also, you're in luck! I have a few Xbox 360 cases loaded with Gamestop stickers that'll be featured in a video soon!

      Ah! I knew there was someone from Italy who commented! Ok so I am making a list of alternatives you can find in Italy, but I might need help verifying if some chemicals are readily available out there.

    While its nice to see you using Heptane, this is all wrong. Use a plastic spudger, not a metal one. Heptane SHOULD saturate the paper. It will not lift ink and it will not relax the fibers. You are using FAR to little. Turn the cover over, pour in quite a lot through the back, soak it through. The sticker will come right off with adhesive attached. This sticker should take less than 60 seconds to come off if you do it properly. You spent almost 20 minutes on this for no reason. The only reason ink would lift off the cover is if continue to scrub the page. Because thats called Wet Sanding.

      Funny you should mention that! Soaking the paper in heptane is another method that I have a video for (you'll notice I've already got two different methods filmed, with three more waiting in the wings). There are some downsides to doing a heptane soak, but I actually get into that in the video!
