From the director: The video is both inspired and soundtracked by the Madvillain track of the same name. We follow the lone figure of a run-down clown as he travels through picturesque woodland and fields, on a search. The video is a meditation on escapism, and the line between comedy and tragedy.

frank tenpenny not necessarily, Guv'nor had a hook. It's all about the feel of the song. What more could you re-emphasise with a hook that the bars aren't saying in Fancy Clown.

I feel this video fits perfectly. In Fancy Clown he's facing himself and his alter-ego (MF Doom). It's him burying himself... he's the clown. I love it.

I guess it's time I gave my piece on this this video. The video is completely related to the content. Doom always spits about the rap game, portraying it as a girlfriend or wife. The song is about how Doom put on the mask to test his 'girlfriend's' response. In doing so buried his Vic Vaughn alias with MF's success. "Nobody cared who I was until I put on the mask"
First time hearing this instrumental and song ever this year and when I heard the lyrics it automatically took me back to I Used To Love Her, by Common Sense when he 1st jumped on the scene when I was a jit.. Only song that's ever done that; that's just me though. But this is the 2nd vid I've watched ever and I've listened to this shit like 100 times in 5 days lol.. Ive wrote 2 verses to it though. Always good to know someone thinks on that level like me bc the few that's heard it around me has very other quality as far as making and knowing good music.. But they just don't get what you get about it.. Its 1 of the Illest I've heard in my whole 38 years of living

this video looks like it was the final project made by a chemistry major who decided to take one video production class as a freshman at community college
The song is MF DOOMs alias Viktor Vaughn rapping to his girlfriend because she cheated on him with DOOM himself (we can assume she didn't recognize him because of the mask.) The video is interesting but it has nothing to do with the literal meaning of the song.

I think she did recognize him as Viktor, but thought that the mask was just him doing some kinky roleplay (when actually he is batshit crazy and has a split personality). She probably never cheated on him ever. Which makes it even funnier that now he starts telling her how he's been fucking maids and all her friends. In my mind, this actually shows Viktor as the more violent and sociopathic side of the 2 personalities, which is funny because traditionally in comics it's the alter ego, the masked villain, who would play that role. I love the lyrics and concept of this song. It's hilarious. Would make a great comic.

He was burying himself over a no good female. In the chase for the 'box', he dug himself a grave and was buried in a box. An internal dichotomy within himself about the girl is going on and in that process it's digging himself a big hole he doesn't need dug out.

@killu19 You do realize that the track is how one of DOOM's persona's "Viktor Vaughn" is being cheated on by his girlfriend with another one of DOOM's persona's "DOOM".
That could be a pretty hard video to make, plus if you try to find the symbolism of this video, you do see that it relates to the music, because it's DOOM telling himself that he'll stomp himself in the ground at the end.

I took the liberty to interpret it another way. this song is a rant about a lost woman, and the desire to fuck up the guy who took her from him, but I think its much more meaningful that at the end the clown is himself, and that rant and the hatred is like digging his own clown.
I mean, if she's with a fancy clown, what of him all the time he was with her? another clown. felt it deep. this was my drunken song the last time i broke up haha
