  • In this year's version of my annual yard & garden video, I show you how all my trees are looking after another year of growth.
    Also, I'll take you in to my fruit & vegetable garden for a look at some of the tasty things I'm growing this year.... including peaches, strawberries, blackberries, bell peppers, hot peppers, tomatoes, onions, apples, peaches, cantaloupes, and pumpkins.

    I'm not even interested in gardening, but I could listen to you read the phone book and enjoy every minute of it :)

    The mini nursery is a fun hobby, no need to waste the seedlings! Maybe the could be a prop scale forrest for the trains to wind through?

    Love the trees but the view wasn’t bad either. The entire environment is beautiful.

    So cool to see everything come together! I remember you showing us your plans before. Thanks for sharing.
    I’m not a RUclips expert, but I was thinking maybe you should consider making a separate channel for the kids train videos if you keep making them. I think the audience for kids train videos vs adult life and cruising is very different.
    Have a good day!

    Nice setup Jim, work of love.I have the same raised 3 high concrete blocks for my garden, I am in zone 10a, I grow many tropical fruit bearing trees, as well as citrus. One suggestion, if you have room for another tree, consider a mulberry tree. Your after dinner ice cream, and you will thank me. :-)

    It's looking good. Interesting that peaches grow well in your area. I know that South Carolina produces some great peaches (even though GA is the peach state). Basil and mint could be good, easy additions to the garden. I had some basil lemonade a while back and it was addictive.

    Wow! Now I am interested in maple trees. The trains will look so much better now with such scenery.

    OMG! Jim! Absolutely beautiful! What a fantastic transformation. I wish I could do the raised bed thing for herbs and veggies, but the only sun I get is in the front yard. Backyard is mostly shade. So I'll just have to live vicariously through you! 😄

    I planted 3 Autumn Blaze maples at our new house. We had one at our previous house. We have a HUGE maple in the front yard. Maybe a silver maple because it doesn’t turn red #@!#/

    I wish I could do fruit tress but I'm sacred to death of slugs and snails. I know that sounds stupid... but I just couldn't handle having them around. =(
    Backyard is looking great but needs a train or two! =)

    What happened to your G scale model railroad?

    • @JimZim
      @JimZim  3 месяца назад +4

      I still have it all. It's not a permanent layout... I like to do slightly different layouts each time I set them up. I spend a day making a layout, play with them for a while, make a video about them, and then I put them away again. So, what you're seeing in this video is the yard how it normally is... no trains... but all the train stuff is safely sitting inside the garage until the next time I decide to bring it out and set up a new layout.

    By the way, are those drone shots a good idea? People can be _really_ good at playing geoguesser in order to dox someone.

    Hey Jim, do some more model train videos

    • @JimZim
      @JimZim  2 месяца назад +1

      I've kind of lost interest in setting up the trains. It's a LOT of work to create the big layouts that I've featured in my videos, and the older I get the more uncomfortable it is to kneel down or crawl around on hands and knees to set up tracks.
      So, lately I've focused more on creating travel videos than model train videos. I do still own all the model train equipment, and I do have an idea for a new model train video featuring some neighbor kids... but it may be a few months before that idea becomes an actual video.

    Idunno, the perfectly groomed lawn kind of screams suburbia disturbia to me. Personally I'd put in a lot of elevated flower beds, sow wildflowers, and then tie it all together with a permanent G scale line with proper buildings and water features.
