This is the real deal. No autotuned, ultra compressed, perfectly synched, TikTok bullshit that sounds like you're in a climate-controlled Kia Sorrento. Kimber's Men makes you want to commandeer a ship and sack the port of your enemy.
I love whatever the Kimbers men do, but I have to say that this is my favourite line up. I have a surreptitious recording of them when they came to Tunbridge Wells a few years ago. I played it nearly every day in lockdown and it helped keep me going. I quickly say I have bought their cds as well!
Not only is this in Assassin's Creed, it recently went viral on TikTok, and even Polygon posted an article about it. This is perhaps the first Sea Shanty to truly become a "Viral Internet Phenomenon".
👏 Good job fellas...My GGGGG Grandfather Weller would be proud. Yes, the same ones for which this song was written, and the N.Z. whale fishery was founded by. 😉 BTW. Keep on the lookout for MY RUclips performance this summer! ;)
This is a tranditional song (a sea shanty). There are still tons of other wonderful tranditional songs hidden in obscurity, waiting us to rediscover and revive them
He's covering his ear. It allows you to hear your own voice better so you can stay in tune. He's likely the bass, because the frequencies are lower it's harder to hear yourself when singing with others. Try it, sing something while covering an ear or two, you can hear your own pitch much better because your voice iterally vibrates your skull!
2021. The year of sea shanties. Killing it gents.
2021 sounds good, I look forward to see where this goes

All of the above may very well be true... although Kimbers Men often travel to gigs in a Kia Sedona..! We like a bit of space around us..
The voice of John Bromley gets me everytime💪
Shoutout to the people who saw this before it blew up
i been singing shanties at work for decades. be doing it when they go out of fashion too. don't need no shout out.

I'm confused thought Nathan Evans only released this song in 2021? How did they sing it in 2014?

What comes to mind when the teacher says "what's an example of american culture"
@Kian Not from Australia. New Zealand
Typical American claiming other cultures as their own hahaha
the lead singer is terrible.
honestly the lead singer has no idea what he's doing. can't even keep time. he ruins this song.
I don't care that much. When I myself sing, I often meet tongue twist. The overall harmony is still brilliant
