I am so grateful for this. I didn't know the second phase could be skipped by overkilling Braccus, the first phase is just great and perfect for a true final battle, it even has its own final battle theme, the second phase was just unnecessary, badly done, feels very anticlimactic for me (Why do I suddenly need to care about Braccus to be the "final boss"?), and to make it worse it even changes the battle them to a regular theme you have already heard many times through the game. In this way I can make Lucian the true final boss, as it should had been. Thanks for the tip.
Braccus was a surprise he was hyped all game long by literally every person dialogue book area whatever but once you absorb all of that exposition its hard to not dismiss him as a piece of background history rather than an endboss. I mean we already got a lot of things going with our ascension, the black ring, then we see that lucian was hiding all along as the different threads come along together then braccus reveals himself suddenly. Not to mention that the final enemies are nasty as shit, and everyone can kill you in 1 to 2 turns, so you are torn between digesting all that info, the twist, and how to survive that clusterfuck. I ended up reloading and making the deal with satan, i stayed invisible while he slapped their asses alone lol. Hes pretty generous for a 50-50 share of divinity 😂
@@TheTriangle444Yeah not to mention he was a mid game boss in divinity original sin 1 so it was very unexpected to find out he’s still alive and more powerful than ever.
I just finished the final battle, but had no idea Rex would trigger a second phase. I had figured (correctly, it turns out!) that he was by far the most dangerous opponent, so I had my two physical damage dealers (one warfare, one dual wield backstabby scoundrel) burst him down and then I turned him into a chicken. Turns out that if he's a chicken, he apparently can't engage the second part of the battle, so I killed him the next round and then mopped up the rest. Imagine my surprise when I watched some videos and found there was an entire part of that battle I never saw. Haha.
This is not true. I just beat the final battle last night and Braccus Rex started the 2nd phase of the battle from chicken form. His hit points got below 50% but not low enough to kill him and he called the Kraken right after the damage had been done to him. We ended up winning the fight anyway, but I was really surprised. It was like the game just made some kind of check on his hit points and execute the 2nd part of the fight script even though it violated what should have happened in combat.
Pyroclastic eruption's AoE overlaps so in practice what you got was basically geomancer's version of necromancer 3SP rain. I killed the advocate with it in one turn, i wonder what would happen if I just kept going for the mage play style instead of respecking into Necro.

Kraken OP you say? Braccus+Lucian too much for you you say? Here's a foolproof way to turn the battle into a joke. My red price could deal 30K damage with anathema, so I saved it for Braccus’s third form or even a battle against the god king himself.
