  • Alun Armstrong and Marion Bailey are the stars of To Have And To Hold, Richard Bean’s new comedy about the challenges of old age. But how funny is it? Does it look deeply enough at the fraught relationship between elderly working class parents and their university educated middle class children? How does it compare with Richard Bean’s modern classic One Man Twp Guv’nors? Paul Seven Lewis has the answers.
Also in the cast are Christopher Fulford, Hermione Gulliford, Rachel Dale and Adrian Hood. Co-directing are comedy greats Richard Wilson and Terry Johnson, with a set by James Cotterill.
To Have And To Hold is at Hampstead Theatre until 25 November 2023.

Paul was given a review ticket by the theatre.
