Great video and great advice towards the end, something people should seriously note. I also liked the fact that you presented genuine 4WDing without turning things into what they weren't, just wholesome 4Wdriving enjoyment taking care of the land and the vehicles.
I know what you mean about lockers. I never had them for my first 7 years of 4wding. Now I have them they’re an absolute god send, especially as I do a lot of solo traveling/touring. 👍
would like to inform everyone as i am a local living roughly 15 to 20 minutes from these tracks at catherine hill bay, if you’re planning on going here be very cautious as you can get fined by rangers aswell as there’s cameras out there
Great spot . That was my favourite spot for a day trip . But you can’t get in there anymore if anyone knows how to get in there please post . Cheers in advance
WoW what a location, I have to totally agree with you Tyler on your thoughts on diff locks, It's so nice to see someone like yourself with a pretty basic 4B getting into the tuff stuff without the use of diff locks. It shows people what can be done in a none highly modified 4B..... Keep Safe
Hey Tyler, great vid again. That comment about lockers is exactly what I was thinking. I'd even startet offroading with 2wd cars, what makes it even more difficult but sharpens the feeling for the right line. Greetings from Germany, Björn :-)
Going to pop down tomorrow for a day trip with the kids. I am thinking you went into the Wallarah National Park area which according to the NPWS website and other sites is a Walking Track area only. Confusing me somewhat. Guess I will find out tomorrow hey :) Did not know the area existed for 4wd'ing so thanks for the video and the lesson!
Thanks mate! Yeah I'm not too sure how it works through there to be honest, there was no signs or anything and heaps of other 4wders out there. A couple of the tracks had gates across them which we didn't go into. A couple of people have mentioned to me that some/all of the area is closed but they aren't too sure either/which parts. Its all a bit confusing haha
Loving all your videos Most blogs by overseas tourists only visit the common places on the tourist map but you find unknown places that are better than some of the tourist attractions
Another good one Tyler. Good to see Shad with you again, I just met him last weekend. I live here and didn't know about the Catherine Hill Bay Tracks. We might have to meet up for a trip one day. Cheers Steve
Another great video. I have been re watching some of your other videos for ideas on were to go next & in the next few weeks will be doing a small trip from port, hat headc ect .
Very cool. That tricky section coming back up. Navara bouncing around trying to get traction. The young bloke relaxing feet up reading his book. Not a care in the world. 👍👍
New subscriber after stumbling on one of your Barrington vids, your video production and editing is top notch and only getting better. I can only imagine the amount of work that goes in to running back down the track picking up cameras haha. Kudos mate, you have one of the best channels on RUclips, keep up the awesome adventures.
Another top video mate.👍 I was surprised to see the “least equipped vehicle” (the MUX) with no lockers, try going up the track first, particularly with no suitable tree to connect a winch line to.😊 I enjoy all of your videos, keep em coming.
That was great Tyler. We used to go 4WDing at "Catho" all the time until they fenced it off & locked the gate. Great to see you can get in again. BTW that place you went swimming used to be home to the biggest wobbegong you've ever seen. Maybe why it was called the Shark Hole? Can't wait for Part 2 - burn that midnight oil!
Hi ,now U put air down in tyres for sand ,but I've never drive in bush n rocks like that with air down ,think that was one of your probs, I drive a mitzi , Pajero never with sir down on tyres on rock n dirt /gravel/ wet bush tracks ,just a thought 👍😁
Another great vid mate... Just a heads up.. Soft shackles are rated at their break strain... Steel rated shackles are rated as rigging.. A 4.5t shackle will not fail until a min of 5x the rate.. 4.5t shackle = min fail of around 23-24 ton.. Short shackles wear easily too... Just a thought for ya.. 👍👍👍
Another awesome video, great advice on diff locks for new 4wders, it’s too easy to get into dangerous situations when your car is better than you are! Also noticed your not using your new swags? Thanks again for the great entertainment.
Thanks mate! Yep definitely, twin locked, a lot easier to end up on your roof if you don't know what you're doing. Didn't get the swags till after these vids mate, they will be in the next series :)
Hey Tyler, love the show. I've got an RX like yours, I'm looking at swapping an entire diff out of a twin turbo model and getting the wire ran to the the diff locker. If you can get a whole rear diff it'll work out $700-1k cheaper then getting an air locker fitted.
jaie west appreciate the response, unfortunately I still haven’t gotten a 4wd. With some hope it will be within the netxt few months and I can get up there before more fences are established. On another note, would you say a winch is required to go there?
For anyone planning to head out there these days most if not all of this area is off limits to 4wds especially the areas owned by National Parks such as those rocky Head lands.
Hey mate what a great video and as you may be aware as a fellow Navara Owner great to see the Beast mixing it with a D Max and a Toyota...loved the rock crawling drive as well as the getting off the beach stuff!! An excellent drive...and you made it! Tell Dad he needs to buy an NP 3!! Does the RX model NOT come with a rear Diff lock ? Also I am not sure if you have a UHF radio in the ute but if you do let me know where its mounted as I want to put one in my Navara as well!! Really enjoyed it Tyler!
Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed it :) Dad has always said he would happily get a np300 if he got another 4wd. Nope RX doesn't have a rear diff lock. And we only have handheld UHF radios that we use, I don't have a proper mounted one
You aren't actually meant to drive in there so the tracks are always moving because they get blocked off. You can get in off the Highway, off Flowers Dr, Mine camp Rd and other places depending on whats been blocked off

Hi mate, it’s off Flowers Dr at the entrance to Catherine Hill Bay. Just google map it. I’d love to go but can’t be bothered, from what I’ve heard it’s closed with fences and bollards now on a few of the entries. Good luck
That LandCruiser does everything so easy ,I've had a cruiser with twin lockers & it lessens your chance of breaking shit as you don't have to go as hard at obstacles ! Great video again Tyler !
Hey mate. Great video and they’ve gotten even better now. I’m looking to this track, I’m reading up and some ppl saying these tracks all closed now? Do you have any info on that? Or where is the entry to the start of Catherine hill bay track and where you exited. 🤙
Thanks mate. We took a left onto a dirt road off the main road into Catherine Hill Bay and then the tracks came off that, not sure the name of it but sorry. All the tracks seemed to not have names
Gotta watch out driving the bush at Catho these days. They are coming down hard on people lately. Too many people doing the wrong thing and ruining it (as always)
Please look after the dunes. Signs are over there telling you to keep off. At least now most of the beach is fenced off to keep vehicles off them and the money you spent on your permit pays for rangers to patrol the area. Have nothing against responsible 4wdriving on the beach but that dune you drove on has been destroyed by overuse.
When we did this trip you were allowed to drive on that one dune mate. Its only recently they have changed the law there and you aren't allowed to anymore
Sadly most if not all of these tracks have been closed off to 4wds for quite some time now. There are hidden cameras in place to catch those who venture in. I found out about them the hard way as there were no signs where I went in but came out past a camera! It's a shame that it's closed because that track along the rocks was spectacular!
Great video and great advice towards the end, something people should seriously note. I also liked the fact that you presented genuine 4WDing without turning things into what they weren't, just wholesome 4Wdriving enjoyment taking care of the land and the vehicles.
Cheers mate! Appreciate it and glad you enjoyed :)
I know what you mean about lockers. I never had them for my first 7 years of 4wding. Now I have them they’re an absolute god send, especially as I do a lot of solo traveling/touring. 👍
Yep they definitely are a great thing once you got them but still can do most stuff without them
Nice work boys I done the track by myself had 7 nice heart attacks never again by myself if u go down the wrong track good luck getting back up.
would like to inform everyone as i am a local living roughly 15 to 20 minutes from these tracks at catherine hill bay, if you’re planning on going here be very cautious as you can get fined by rangers aswell as there’s cameras out there

@@hendrikkruk7268 yeh mate, depends on which ranger you speak too i guess

Nice one tyler this is probably one of the most epic trips I've seen you do so far. Awesome stuff bro can't wait for episode 2👌

This is an awesome video to watch. And a great tutorial to 4wd. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Tyler, great vid again. That comment about lockers is exactly what I was thinking. I'd even startet offroading with 2wd cars, what makes it even more difficult but sharpens the feeling for the right line. Greetings from Germany, Björn :-)

Ignore comment. Further info shows the walking area is the northern part of the park, so should be good!

The Best thing about having lockers is the increase in Bravery when alone.
I do agree with you tho.

Hey mate another top watch 👍, what model cruiser is your mates.
J.B.I Hi mate, its a 2016 gxl 76 series
Nice video mate, was wondering where you access Catho Bay tracks from, ie. what road? Cheers
You aren't actually meant to drive in there so the tracks are always moving because they get blocked off. You can get in off the Highway, off Flowers Dr, Mine camp Rd and other places depending on whats been blocked off
Where is the access point to Catherine hill bay 4wd track ?
Just so you guys know, rangers kick up a huge stink if they see people wheeling in the catho tracks. Your not allowed to be in there cause it’s a conservation area. They give your rego to police cause they’ve had issues with people putting their own padlocks on the gate up mine camp road
Nice trip mate.
Cheers mate
In my opinion, lockers are the first thing you should install on a 4x4, they are more useful than a lift kit.
Another cool video, mate. Adding Catherine Hill Bay to the list for our next trip North. Also, who does the ELO cover at the start of the video?
Cheers mate! Its 'Sunday Beats' by 'Johnny Rock'
Awesome video. Just subscribed. If you don't mind me asking mate, where abouts did you get onto the tracks at catho? Most are blocked off now. Cheers
Cheers mate! It was a dirt road off to the left on the main road into Catherine Hill Bay but I'm not sure the name of it sorry
