You could stock it with fish that’ll eat those. But people making these should really make the pond bigger. Maybe deeper too. But that’s not a lot of space for a food web to function
If you make a healthy eco-system they'll be eaten by other aquatic bugs or salamanders that are no threat to humans. We got one at the farm, it might sound crazy, but did you know about lakes and rivers and that you can swim in these once there ain't a lot of industry around them?
With mosquitos, simple don't have still water. Get a fountain or something to keep the water moving. The other creatures is dependent on where you live
As an Australian, I dream of a pool like this. Australia is home to something like 20 of the world's 25 most venomous snakes, but they don't tend to hang out in swimming pools. Leeches and mosquitoes can be easily controlled with aeration, circulation, fish, etc. Gators aren't a problem here but maybe saltwater crocodiles up north... build a fence?
Couldn’t you build a metal screen around it? Granted, that would also deny access to more harmless wildlife. Anyway, people go swimming in Blue Springs, Poe Springs, and other ponds in Florida even though gators could probably be lurking around there.
@@laughinggiraffe9176 you've never watched an alligator climb a 12 foot fence to get where it wants to go have you? A screen won't do a darn thing to keep a gator out
He is from the uk. Many of us are from the southern US. You arent going to make a pond like this in the south. I want one, really, but its not reasonable.
Probably safer than drinking the water in Flint /s. Don’t think I would drink from a pond/pool without boiling it first. Used to drink from a spring before that was nice and fresh.
Not a good idea for tropics where this could quickly become a haven for mosquitoes, worms, frogs, parasites and worst of all snakes. I already see Floridians worried about gators so there's that too. Only good for colder regions. Looks beautiful though!
Inexpensive pond? I love it when people pretend to be cheap by buying expensive things they believe is good for the planet. The next owner will pay a fortune cleaning up the overgrown pond, and filling it in.
@@nickfury7665 Plants filter many things, but what is a peer-reviewed source that say these plants remove all possible contaminants? Not every stream or pond that you come across automatically is drinkable because plants live there.

This guy has been building these pools for a long time and has done laboratory testing to confirm how remarkably clean the water is. Cleaner than the stuff that comes from your faucets.
no chemicals? ok so this guy doesn't make any sense at all. heres how a pond works. the fish eat the algae, the algae regrows. the fish die and the algae feeds off the fish. phosphate and phosphorous are made in this cycle. pulling the water out of the pond doesn't make the water safe to drink. there is still fish poop and dead fish in the pool that can make you sick. so the only way to do it is to remove all the animals and just have a vat of water that is cycled through a filtration system of some kind. this guy drinking the water from his 'organic pond' really has no clue what he could be consuming.
Your understanding is rooted in the modern and very narrow paradigm that requires chemicals to fix things. This man replicates the natural, balanced world and employs natural biological filters to do the work of the chemicals you require. Just like a waterway in nature. It is a very common method across the world.
@@jonathanm9436 the chemicals you speak of are natural products when algae bloom and when fish die. with animals in the water you get natural byproducts of their life cycle. look it up.
@jonathanm9436 when you say modern it makes me think you are saying that the old ways are superior. What biological filters are you talking about when animals still die and their waste gets broken down?
In certain parts of midwest, especially amish community they have always been popular. Stocked with fish, swim, ice skate,
This looks so much better than most pools
It absolutely does. Beautiful, natural, full of flowers and creatures. Stunning.
What about parasites and worms????

Free proteins
You're thinking of tap water😂
Ah yes, the best way to lure in alligators, snakes, snapping turtles, leeches, and mosquitoes.
You must be from the south too 😂
Only a Brit can get away with such an idea

Pro of being British
I wish this was a possibility in Florida, but with our gators I wouldn’t advise it.

My bigger concern would be brain eating amoeba.
Yeah, you probably have to do this somewhere colder or you'll get too many dangerous reptiles.

Snakes and misquitoes, too.
Fantastic! I want one!,!
Me too!! I love ponds and water plants, and all the creatures that come with them. Dang, I wish I could have this.
They do things a little differently across the pond
Even the ponds are different across the pond.
I'd love a wildlife pond, and I'd swim in that, but idk about drinking it. What about bacteria, worms, protists, parasites etc etc
No, get an ozone pool if you don't want to use chemicals or salt.
Natural pools are mosquito magnets.
What’s an ozone pool?
Maybe not if the water is moving.
Aeration, circulation and fish can easily solve mosquitoes.
its clean for swimming... but cannot directly drink from that
Was about to say that...
Well done.
You say eco-friendly, but what that black plasic is? I would love to have natural pond, but almost everybody puts kind if plastic at the bottom...😢
What about mosquitoes? Usually mosquitoes breed in stagnant water.
They mentioned that they have a pump circulating the water, so it's constantly moving - not stagnant.
You can also stock the pond with minnows that will eat the mosquito larvae. The mosquitoes will be eaten by dragon flies too
He drank the water so it's not stagnant.
Love it 🙌
Guy directly addresses potential concerns
Everyone down here: “What about-“
Like we have forums about this. Just do the extra work yall.
He gives a less than a minute explanation with only his word to go off, I wouldn't call that addressing anything unless you're gullible.

(Here in US) This pool is not up to code for swimming! Pay a fine and demolish the stucture. You should not drink from none steral contament.

What about Naegleria fowleri?
Creazy no one mentioned this yet, catching this is nearly 100% death
Extremely rare. Much much rarer than drowning. You can't even be infected by N. fowleri if you drink the water... you have to inhale it.
One of those videos were halfway through you realize it's NOT a spoof.

why are we going backwards? swim, yeah sure, definitely! Drink!? Hello Amoeba
Water testing of this guy's pools has shown the water is cleaner than the stuff that comes out of your faucets.
Should I bring my lilypad?
If we did this in Florida, we'd have gators..
... and the first wild animal coming to such pond would certainly fertilize it with all the local trendy parasites

Until big brother wants to 'reallocate' or wants you to by not savinf rainwater or whatever.
That's a lot of trust that a kid hasn't peed in there.
