Our animated historical documentary series on modern warfare continues with a video on the Gallipoli campaign of 1915, which happened during the Great War of 1914-1918, also known as World War I. During this campaign, Entente forces largely represented by the British, French, Australian and New Zealandian contingents fought against the Ottomans.

Can you do indo-pak war of 1971 or Bangladesh war of Independence? Many western ppl forget it and just focus on Cuban missile crisis or Korean war as a serious part of cold war but during this war the navies of USSR(which defended India against USA and UK navies) and USA and UK (which were supporting Pakistan and send to attack India's navy) came nearly into a conflict.

To be precise it was a Serbian thug shooting the hier of Austrian Empire, Prince Fernandez. That is the scale of the incident that triggered that war and that is where each side was fighting on. Then the Allies blamed Germany for everything in
Versaille and asked for full compensation.

@Dylan Drummond exactly. Hitler was a knee jerk reaction to Versaille. Does not justify his ideology at all. But Allies have so many questions to answer as well especially about WW1.

Also britian did plenty of stuff without the help of the soviet union and america. They squeezed the axis out of the middle east and east africa. Britian also did most of the fighting in north Africa was well and the British navy was vital in operation torch and the invasion of italy. British troops also played a key role in liberating the benelux and in the italian campaign.
Also britian did give up half of europe to the communists, that was the land that the USSR had occupied after ww2 and short of going to war with the soviet union, which would be devastating for all those involved, they couldnt do much about it except try and stop the spread of communism further.

There was an Australian friend who i had a chance to meet in Istanbul. We had a conversation about the Gallipoli war. After all the history talk, we hugged and gave each other our gratitudes. She told me that there is a museum in their homelands, exhibiting the facts of this war. And I felt so happy that even though they lost the fight, they still respect us and feel grateful because of the honorable attitude of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, speaking to the Anzac mothers who lost their sons "your beloved children are now also our children and they will rest in peace here". I feel sorry for all the troops all around the world who lost their lives during the warfare. And also proud of my nation for being able to repell the attack. Thanks for the video ❤

The Australians were preparing a third assault when a Turkish Officer climbed out of his trench and yelled out in English This is madness, for Gods sake stop it. The third assault went the same way as the first two. Actually it runs deeper. The generation that fought the war essentially grew up in the 19th century, most of the beliefs that shaped their worldview were violently torn down by the experience of the war. After it was all over people felt like everything they had ever been told was a lie, western civilization itself was plunged into crippling self doubt. In 1919 WB Yeats wrote this in his poem The Second Coming:
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world
      The blood-dimmed tide is loosed,
and everywhere the ceremony of innocence is lost

Gallipoli was one of the last wars of real gentlemans. After bloody fights they were making breaks to collect their bodies and wounded soldiers. Soldiers were throwing each other cigarettes and food as gifts. They were curing each other's wounded soldiers.
The Turkish officers and commanders refused German offer about the chemical warfare. "Usage of such a fatal instrument was not fair and just," they said. Moreover, such an action was out of the "War Law." They rejected to release poison gas until the end of the war.
During the wars, Australian and New Zealand press often mentioned that the Turkish Army has not been using any chemical warfare and there was nothing to worry. For example, "Otago Times" published an article on 01 November 1915. In this article about the Turkish Warriors, the frankness of the Turks was emphasised as; "the Turks never fire a hospital, they never use chemical warfare. They ceased fire when Triumph has been hit. The Turks are not hypocrites."
