Thanks for the video. An X aussie here. Gosh how I miss MEL (I used to live in South-Yarra right in front of Fawkner Park). From the list you've presented, I only used to wear Dior F. as a signature scent back in the days. These days I'm afraid I don't like any of them anymore. The only Dior I still wear is (the eternal) Eau Sauvage. I've moved on to more high end perfumes. I do not "collect" for the sakes of collecting. I only buy perfumes to wear, and since one can not rotate hundreds of bottles, I have narrowed my 'collection' to around 30 bottles, only the cream of the crop. I gave away all the perfumes I had that I know I'll never reach for, including Dior F. and Havana. My small modest collection includes a few Xerjoffs, a few TFs, a few Lorenzo Villoresi, 1 Byredo, 1 Thameen, 3 PdMs, 1 Initio, 1 Amouage and 1 Hermes... that's it. No plans to buy more, unless I'll give up some. Don't want to fall into the rabbit hole of full bottles perfume addiction. So there is no room left in my modest collection for ordinary designers run of the mill perfumes. However, to scratch a few itches, I have a stock of few dozens of 2ml samples, and a few 5ml samples (decants?) of perfumes I like to sniff every now and then, and wear three or four times a year, but that doesn't count as addition, or does it ? :)
Now, this is what I'd call "a healthy interest" 😆 For most ppl I'd say a 10 bottle rotation is plenty, but as you get older (me particularly), I have actually ended up rebuilding the fragrance wardrobe of my youth. Which I do wesr from time to time but, like you, I'll just sniff for nostalgia sake every now and then. Most designers these days can't come close to niche, so I'm wesring niche most of the time too
I used to love Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme in the late nineties and early 2000s. But then I bought a new bottle in 2008 or so and it smelled like Mr. Clean. Like effing formula 409. That was my first run in with reformulation.
Fragrantica is a site that gazettes people's feelings, so unsurprisingly it will be astoundingly diverse, especially if you're expecting it to be objective
Fahrenheit. Damn. The box has that blue color on the top, red and at the bottom, yellow (and you showed the box after) 😂 I rocked that one in the early 90s. Amazing.
I smelled it on a gentleman as I was walking by in the city just yesterday actually. After all these years it's still immediately recognisable, iconic!
Oh yeah, if you like the og Santos you will most likely love the Concentre...but I'm not an influencer so I'm not gonna tell you to buy fragrances hahaha 😉
Burned through the last of my 8 year old bottle of Platinum Egoiste this morning...I'm thinking maybe better to visit the Channel boutique to test a new bottle before replacing
Just be mindful of how long that bottle has been sitting and maturing on the shelf there. I have seen my local department store with testers of bottles that were 16 years old, but the bottles they sold were current
Versace the Dreamer is definitely one I'll keep in my collection for the foreseeable future, even more so now that I've sampled LVs Imagination. LV Imagination imho is the Dreamers younger sexier cousin.
I believe Platinum Egoiste has under went another reformulation… I picked up a new bottle about 6-months ago… and it definitely has a different vibe from my bottle that I got about 3-4 years ago… It seems much greener and softer.. not as shaving foam metallic. Definitely has the same dna.. it’s PE. But I can tell there has been a change.
I think Dior Homme and Intense both got positive reformulations in 2011. I own silver stem DH and newer ones and prefer the newer. I like the idea of stuff that’s been kept pretty much the same. Chanel is pretty great at this but a lot of classics are damn near identical to their older selves: CH 212, AdG, Jaipur EDT and EDP, Givenchy Pi, Polo Sport and Polo Blue, and many others. And on Fahrenheit: I read that dihydromercynol was limited by regulation from the mid-00s until 2019 or 2020 and that vastly improved Fahrenheit again.
Now THAT is some useful info that pieces some of the Fahrenheit puzzle togtether. Thank you. With the 2011 DH & DHI reforms, I agree, both are almost identical.
Sucks about the 'grand finale' being a let down... :^( Great video as always... Also what are the two Fahrenheit Absolute formulation codes??? My bottle (3R02 from 2013) has the N°04966/A like the box you showed in the video... Just wondering what the other code was and what year it was from... ^_^
@@RaffiDiranBassclefwhere in Australia are you seeing Havana? I bought a bottle on eBay for more than I probably should have because I couldn't find it anywhere else. Are you also seeing Aramis 900 around? If so, I need to know where!!
@@dantheman2907 there were a few chemist warehouses that had heaps of them for $50, i only saw it like last month, can't remember which one though, it was definitely in Melbourne though haha
No Freaking way The new Dreamer is any better.. I have not worn the Dreamer in the 90s but I had this in 2010 The new one is no wear near the old formulation. The new one do not even last 3 hours. and it does not project, The old one lasted for couple days and projects and projects
For me the new Fahrenheit is not good at all compare to the old one. Really light .and the smell also feel not as good in term of quality, smell, performance..
@RaffiDiranBassclef the brand can write what they want but for me it have change. That's maybe the fragrance i know the most. My father wear it since it came out it have more that 10 bottles min over the years🤣 and for me i have got 2 bottles of it. Also my father feel the same about it
Usually adapted for modern man just means adapted for low testosterone millenials with masculinity crisis. It's always good to have options, flanker and original. Otherwise it's a blasphemy. Imagine chanel n5 adapted for millenial girlbos catlady, without the option of getting the original. Also it's just shortsighted, because new generation has completely different tastes. Gen z and alpha don't like millenial tastes and they're tend to like gender differences more instead of unisex and androgynity. It's better be timeless than out of touch. And creating something new instead of non stop remaking and remixing. Thats creative crisis of 2010s. We don't create because it's risky, we just making remakes and remasters.
Don't be surprised if you see a fragrance come out with a Skibidi Toilet flanker with the tagline, "Your girlfriend's boyfriend would love it" 😆 But really, I think Chanel is treading carefully here, they probably don't wanna ruin their heritage but at the same time, the old school ladies who are their mainstay are slowly but surely (and literally) dying out. What's a business gotta do to stay alive?
Comparing current or new formulations/packaging to old or older is fantastic content btw. Very informative.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it

Ah yes, that's one of the ones I didn't mention because my bottle was not to hand. That one has been utterly castrated.
I got The Dreamer awhile back for the first time. It grew on me each spray. People seemed split on that crazy site Fragrantica 😂

The Dreamer is great fragrance one I'll always have.
Interesting concept, have to watch

Bro, you should try first formula 1988 of Fahrenheit. Its another level 😍
First formulation for Fahrenheit is from 1988 to 2001. I have a bottle from 1994 and you're right, it is really great 👍
Santos is so good. Santos and Must share a lot characteristics. Since I have Santos, I never tried the Concentree. Maybe I should. Thanks.

Hey mate, the other one is a 2009 (year of release) and the formula code is N°04504/E
Is Havana still readily available there?
Yup, around $40 - $50 a bottle. They're everywhere. Have they disappeared from the shelves where you are?

Went through a full bottle of the Dreamer, was good, mild. It gives me church vibes, idk why
Church is an interesting association!
maybe i should revisit Dreamer, use to have a bottle of it 10+ years ago and i thought it was very Le Male-ish. HNY Raffi!
HNY mus 🎉 Here's to a better year than the last...I hope you're not in LA bro 🙏

The old one certainly had better performance, but in terms of scent for the profile, I prefer the new one
DHP 2025 is totally different. You may be let down.
