    It is with shock and dismay that I listened to your retelling of this modern day horror story. Somehow you survived it. It's a Hero's Journey for sure. I'm so glad you found your way back. My heart goes out to you. It's something nobody wants to have to deal with. Gosh.

    Love these stories. In general, I enjoy listening to you talk (whether it's about tea or otherwise) but really love it when I've got tea while doing so. Basically listening to some tea while drinking tea ha. Keep well Don.

    Yikes, what a heart-stopper than discovery must have been. If my tax guy had missed that change in the law, I’d have been livid! Well, all we teaheads are so happy Mei Leaf survived it. I hope you are well on your way to getting back where you were financially. BTW, have there been subsequent challenges to that law?

    • @DiaryOfATaster
      @DiaryOfATaster  2 дня назад

      There have been more challenges but they have not been listened to by the powers - once the law is in place and the tax is rolling in it is going to take a big effort to change anything.

    Wow, that had to be very difficult - very glad you made it out! Would it have made any difference, if the health business was not under the same "Mei" group umbrella? I am thinking in terms of damage control. Is it possible for one company, to be forced to do "repair work" on behalf of another one, if the owner is the same? I have no knowledge here unfortunately, but it was one of the first things that I thought of when you mentioned it.
    Have a nice evening!

      I have started taking regular melatonin after seeing more research and it helps but I am pretty good at sleeping after a light session.

      I'm right now drinking my second mug of catuaba tea for today. Catuaba is probably best known for certain alleged effects but for me it's mainly a matter of taste (I think I like it more than rooibos). I drink it pretty strong -- up to 3g/mug and very long steeping times -- and I find it calming and soothing :-)

      I love lots of herbals like chrysanthemum, greek Olympus, rooibos, jiao gu lan, mulberry

    Wow that's some story! I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on Bitcoin and why you decided to accept it as payment on Mei Leaf's website.

      I have spent a lot of time researching BTC, not from a short term money making venture but as a serious contender to be one of the only true stores of value as we face very uncertain times. It is clear that FIAT has been messed with to the point that its story seems to be so convoluted and corruptible and subject to far -reacing control (as we exit from cash) that I felt it was important to be involved in BTC and to offer this payment option to those who want to cement BTC's place as a currency for the future.

    So you had to scrape up $860k out of Acumedic? I imagine Acumedic is a corporation or LLC, so hopefully you were shielded from personal liability? (that's at least how it works in the US).
    Was Acumedic that successful that it could cough up all that money without going bankrupt?
    No worries if this is too personal to answer. I'm just a curious attorney here in the US.

      Yes it is a limited company but if it had been deemed that this was intentional tax evasion then I could have been personally charged and even faced jail time which.did give me many sleepless nights. The company is part of a group including Mei Leaf sonwe had to scrape the money together from all businesses plus loans.
