- Sarasota Marine Patrol Officer Michael Skinner stopped a boat doing circles in inner coastal waters, only to find a man lying face-down in a pool of blood.
Shout out to the hero's of Sarasota police and fire rescue. Thanks you for your service
Sure seems like they are well practiced in rounding up stray boats operated by drunk drivers losing control. 'He's alive....awesome.....so, is that a new boat?'
@@Yosetime way of the road....or in this case waves lol

Right talking over the patient about the new boat he's has
Poor guy hit a wave and knocked himself out it sounds like.

You guys ! He survived though right !😁
@@Steve_loves_Sims Has head banging ever gone right? I was there when it started...something similar to this was always the outcome! lol Some of us survived and even managed to pro-create. Looks like he was stuck in a really uncomfortable, awkward position. Glad he got the help he needed.
And that loud music didn’t make it any better.
It only showed for a frame or two, but looked like old dude lost about half his blood onto his face / shirt.

I was rolling when they were talking about the department boat. The officer just picked it up yesterday. Really didn’t want to bang it up so soon. But got to do what you got to do.
Right? Like really? Some guy is laying there bleeding to death and they start talking about a department boat thats not even actually his! Lol wtf
@@georgetterobinson01it happens. I’ve done the same thing. A guy laying there bleeding is just a normal daily thing when you’re a first responder. It’s just funny because you know they were looking to the new boat, might have been the first new one they got in a long time. And for the firefighters to know about it means it’s been talked about a lot prior to them getting it.
That type of thing is more important than the call at hand, since calls happen all the time.
@@georgetterobinson01 I'd rather they focus on something other than my screw-up if I were the guy on the boat. Aside from the one or two actively assisting me of course.
That first scratch is always a heart breaker
@@JH-wd6dp that and having been in a bad situation in the ER its kind of nice when you know thing might have gone wrong enough to get you there but things are not dead quite around you or overly intense just hanging out getting you put back together
Poor guy! Hit a big enough wake or wave and your feet will fly right out from under you! I’ve busted my butt a few times in choppy seas if you’re not ready for it. Thank God they got him stopped and helped him ♥
Not sure if his vessel had one, but that's why it's important to have a kill-switch attached to you. Get knocked out, fall down, engine gets stopped. Lesson learned, hopefully.
Wow. Amazing rescue response. Great Job!!
Awesome, response . Two big thumbs up.
Taking his head banging metal a little too seriously, apparently.

Ironic song “Back in Black” for a guy knocked out on deck.
😂😂
😂😂
Haha
Remember Folks its never safe to headbang while Boating.
That guy picking him up by the feet and moving him from that awkward position......made the hairs stand up. Was waiting for the sound of bones cracking.
First responder asking, "Is he alive", then straight to casual conversation, "You've only had this boat for 2 days?" lol
The guy is probably ok, but who knows since this media company didn't think we needed to know the whole story. Just this snippet will do, I guess? Disappointing effort on the part of 10 Tampa Bay. Even the description section say's nothing more than what we already can see. Maybe they plan on stretching this one out with Part 2, Part 3....cause there's nothing else to talk about?
Probably because there is not further information released at the time of the post.......
Right? Poor guy could have been paralyzed.
Some people shouldn't drive boats. They're not like cars.
For sure
That must have been some wake.
No suspension on a boat, it doesn't take much especially for an old dude who probably isn't steady on his feet to begin with.
Excellent work
At first I thought he had a seizure
Thank you SRQ for saving him!!
GJ boat cops!
And also whomever called them and noticed there was a problem. I can think of a few ways this could have ended much worse. I'm curious what made the wake in the inner coastal water there.
Dude should stay seated when alone and going that fast where you can hit a wake enough to whack your head. But I get how if you're on the boat every day for much of your life you get very complacent with safety. Not smart but I can see how someone can.
Man that's a lot of blood... thankfully someone called for help
God bless law enforcement ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Taking headbanger to a whole 'nother level......
Hahahahaha omg so original!!!
Boating should never be a solo recreation.
I hope he will be okay
This is another reason why you should have atleast 1 other person with you while your out on the water.
Shoulda had Van Helen's song "Jump" playing. 😂
This is why you should not be drinking and driving a boat. Or is it drinking and conning a boat? RIP Papa Jim!
Oh man...
Motorboats in FL have been going rogue of late. This one was doing donuts with waterway takeover.
With the marine audio blaring still, was he partying by himself, or there were others went overboard? Rocking and rolling until he hit a big wave and the party came to a rapid stop.
Doing donuts hit a wave or wake. Most likely hit his own wake if he indeed was doing donuts. Wasn't ready for how this boat handles big wakes.
Was this on a lake or ocean? Hes lucky he went toward land and not further out!
I’m surprised they didn’t immediately arrest him for BUI
😂😂😂😂
Really wish they'd give more info on the reason why he ended up like that.
Health? Booze? Donut taking waves not knowing how to?
you dont have to "really wish" anymore because your question is answered in this very video, the guy said he hit a wake
@@limey9182 missed it by that ______ much. 🤣
At no point do they ask him if he had any passengers.
Indeed.
One of the later responding officers ask ... he seemed to be a Vet who was locked in on his job not just happy to be by the water in the middle of the day ...
This is only a tiny portion of the full video. The officers did indeed ask if there were any other passengers aboard.
you dope.......you don't know that
Music like that brings bad luck.
FLA is a whole different animal
I bet he was intoxicated
ACDC vibing a bit too much ...face planted
Dude can't handle a wake on the inner coastal?!?! Ya, he shouldn't be out there playing Captain if he can't handle a wake. The music doesn't matter - he wasn't paying attention to the water. Aren't drivers supposed to pay attention to the road?? Then those in control of a boat need to watch the water. So many boating deaths/injuries would be avoided if folks just PAID ATTENTION. Every year, people die in this town because they don't know what they are doing behind the wheel of a boat - they think it's just a toy. So many tragedies. _Take the Coast Guard boating course._
Took them long enough to get him out of that position.
Don't want to criticize the officer(s) who got to the scene first, but they didn't speak at all to him? Not even to see if he was awake or alive? Or say hey we are here and are going to take care of you?
Maybe cause in the same exact scene of him jumping aboard the victims vessel, you also see what’s called a train paramedic. With that same paramedic, he used his time and knowledge rather than the job of an officer. So maybe just maybe the office did his job by securing the scene for security and safety while the paramedic did their job by taking care of the victim. How’s the paramedic suppose to ask the patient, how are you, if the music is up too loud
They actually did speak to him , he told them that he hit a wake from another boat and he hit his head they absolutely were concerned if he was alive and ok.
He was rocking hard till the wave kicked it up a notch
did you guys hear about his new boat?
My bruise is back in blackkkkkkkn blueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Poor guy!
Hope he didn’t have a back or neck injury the way they spun him like that. Ugh
Yikes...
Cop's body cam makes me seasick.
Can anyone hear the guy?
You could at least explain what happened...
They have no idea what happened!
Most likely...he took a wave/wake across the beam, throwing him into the gunnell of the boat, knocking him out.
@@charlieodom9107 how does nobody in this comment section for a 3 minute video not hear the guy and officer say he hit a wake??????????
@limey9182 did you hear the officer say "I saw him hit a wake?"
@@limey9182 In the age of "shorts," "reels," "snaps," and "Tik Toks" it's honestly not surprising the average attention span seems to be dwindling to the point a 3 minute video is too long.
Years ago, when living in Key West with a LTR (we were co-managing a marina on Stock Island), mate wanted to go grab some lobster on his 20ft ProLine. Upon his return the back of his shorts were shredded and he had prop marks on his butt cheeks. I asked what happened and he replied “you were almost a widow before being a wife” (the wife part never happened). Evidently, he’d stepped to the stern to switch over the gas tanks, hit a wake and was thrown out of the boat which promptly ran him over. The boat continued to circle aimlessly. Fortunately, he was in relatively shallow water and a fellow boater picked him up and all they could do was wait until it ran out of gas. This guy had his commercial captain’s license and was a marine mechanic raised on the river. He used to race speed boats with which he had a similar incident where the prop sliced his face pretty good. Gee, if only he’d worn a kill switch lanyard.🤓
So. This dummy didn’t learn anything about boating safety as he got older? He’s a real prize.
AcDc
Is the perfect music
What wave? The water is calm
A wake from another boat , many boats that go fast leave behind a bunch of waves that can cause serious problems for other smaller boats and ones that aren't designed for going fast , many places prohibit vessels to go under throttle in places where there are small vessels that can't handle wakes.
@@josephbennett3482 good to know, I didn’t know that thanks
Damn. That's a lot of blood.
Kill switch lanyard? If he wasn’t using that he was an idiot putting everyone at risk.
Typical American boating practise sadly, untrained and oblivious. Let's hope he makes a full recovery, and learns before he has passengers.
@@ourfarmhouseinspainif it was typical, the laws would change. It’s very UNTYPICAL, probably less than 1%.
Of course, I’m from Minnesota where you learn to drive a boat before a ATV or a car.
@@armageddonready4071 The laws don't need to change, just to be enforced. As a qualified Yachmaster in Europe with a fair amount of experience in American waters, I have often been driven almost to tears watching incompetent boatowners put to sea with out anyone having a lifejacket, unrestrained adults and children sitting on foredecks with their legs hanging over the side whilst the boat plunges through waves, etc. Your governing authority - the US Coast Guard - can always be relied upon to be tied up at their dock, with no one to be seen, and who generally ignore most infractions of the safety laws, because paperwork. The Fish and Game wardens are a different breed though, and can be relied upon to check that all safety equipment is fitted as necessary. Too many boat owners in your waters are carefree individuals, but more importantly careless individuals, usually with others safety with the view that laws are for lesser mortals. I hope the person we saw in the video recovers, perhaps he'll learn to keep a better lookout in the future. It's not hard. Regards.

that is a classic no matter what music you like if you think thats bad you must enjoy dogshit music
The way they picked up his legs and swung them around !!!
That was extremely dangerous and could have killed him if he had neck or spine injuries.
That is a bit over the top for a police boat
Not really considering the vessel power the bad guys have. You’d rather them have a 13 ft Boston Whaler with a 25 hp Johnson? Remember what happened to the police department back in 1997 during the North Hollywood Bank Shootout? You have to at the minimum be equal, preferably above the capacity of those you’re going after.
How about some regular checks by the boating police to keep these old farts from operating watercraft that they either: are unqualified to operate or are no longer physically able to handle what might happen on the water (he said he hit a wake). Like the 78 year old that killed the stupid teenager water skiing in the wrong place...he could barely walk around his boat when docking...probably couldn't see her if he tried (not to mention crossing behind another boat that may have been towing skier(s) and failing to turn around ASAP. These folks are driving in Florida, also. I've seen them not realize they were pulling in front of others or turning without looking.
hej
Haha AC/DC will do that to you!!
Why on earth did he bother ramming that boat? He could've just held off another half minute and it would've docked itself neatly in that slip 30 feet away.
Unless it wasn't a 'rouge' and was just floating in place blaring the music to the annoyance of the non-taxpayers on shore.
It was under throttle a little bit and it was going in circles because the owner got knocked down and wasn't in control so the officer had to go head to head with it and jump on-board to get it under control and check on the injured boater.

Guy lying in a pool of blood. Lets figure out this radio.
He had to get the radio off because it was extremely loud and it would have been difficult to hear the patient and communicate over his portable radio to other units.
Turning off boat is #1... Checking on man face down in a pool of blood is #2
Turning off the radio so you can hear, communicate, and coordinate is #1.5...
I love how the responding officer was more worried about his boat than rendering aid. First time I have ever seen an officer worried about tax payer property.
I assume it as big a deal as when the discharge or inject somone with hell or heaven choices..
Maybe he was not meant to be on the boat in the first place and was caught out..
But agree, he mind was more worried about the boat than the person on deck..
Better qualified personnel were on-scene immediately. However, yes, apparently workers caring for equipment that isn't theirs seems rare. Every single police vehicle in my city has visible dings in the doors. I've worked with people who had no problem being extremely rough with vehicles, break them, and then leave the rest of us who actually want to do our jobs stuck doing less pleasant work as a result.
Boomers and their partying!
RUclips will not stop Donald Trump as desperate as they are!😂
I have a lot of respect for all first responders! But too many things wrong with this video. Who cares about the radio when 2 feet away is a guy lying face down in a puddle of blood. Next never ever lift someone's feet stretching his neck like that when you don't know if he has a neck injury he's not a paramedic he has a law enforcement officer he should know better!
Can't hear eachother until radio off. need to find out if he can feel legs etc
Look up "positional asphyxiation". The way he was laying was making it hard to breathe. No breath = dead soon.
How do you think someone would rescue the guy from his position if they didn't move his legs first? From what I could tell the 2nd guy was stabilising the stuck guys head and neck as his legs were lifted so there was less chance of injury or making an already existing injury worse.
I'm asking as someone who trained in advanced first aid and general/urban /disaster rescue.
Our training scenarios included people stuck in weird positions in/under vehicles, collapsed houses, under trees and in mine shafts, down sink holes, etc.
Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot
I'm sure they would've turned down the radio so they don't have to yell to the victim, also so they can hear if he's responding or even hear if he's breathing.
How was he supposed to communicate with the victim genius???
@@dotcassilles1488 Exactly. Seems they were first quickly assessing the scene. The officer would be less helpful than the obvious paramedic/rescue personnel who jumped on board once the boat was secured. Securing the boat & radio so effective rescue could occur is high priority. Taking a moment to assess the victim before picking them up all willy-nilly was also a high priority. Seems to me they did a good job instead of being recklessly negligent.
Exactly what I was going to say poor guy !!!
They had to unfold him!LOL🤔😅🫣just finished watching:the outer limits"the brain" for the first time 10 minutes ago...🙄
