Diana sabotaged her marriage by falling in love and getting involved with her bodyguard Barry Mannakee in 1985-1986. They were spending a lot of time alone together, openly flirting, and others noticed. Allen Peters, another bodyguard, noticed and informed Charles. I hadn't seen the clip of Harry on the Prince of Wales' shoulders, either. I found that fascinating, Charles did try to be a good father. Sad how it all turned out.
Diana admitted Charles was a good father. The big difference between Charles and Diana's pictures with their children is Diana often took the boys to public places where they were photographed. Charles usually took them to family private properties, like Balmoral, and away from the paparazzi.

Since Dianas passing no one has stood out and have that IT Factor. Diana was the Diamond that sparked in that Royal family . No disrespect to Kate n other Royal females just dont cut it. Diana was stolen from everyone that loved her❤❤❤❤❤❤❤♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
The reason Diana stood out was because she made connections with the paparazzi to ensure maximum publicity for her activities. She was competitive for public attention. She became a fashion diva and drew attention to herself and away from the royal family. Diana hogged the limelight. She was the most photographed woman in the 1980s and 1990s. Diana was not a supportive and loyal member of the monarchy. She publicly trash-talked Charles and the royal family. Diana intended to undermine Charles and damage his reputation. In her effort to destroy Charles's reputation she risked damaging the monarchy and William's future. Her BBC Panorama interview prompted the queen to request the divorce. Diana was fired (divorced) from her position in the royal hierarchical organization for disrespecting and being disloyal to the monarchy.
@@karlamccullough5319Diana humanized and modernized the monarchy. Her impact has been positive on the long term. You are biased and unable to recognize Diana's qualities and good side.
Diana definitely stood out. She was exceptionally good at gaining publicity for her assigned royal duties (charities) and herself. She created a very positive public image of herself. However, her position in the royal hierarchical organization was a supportive role or "second fiddle". Diana failed to be a supportive and loyal member of the royal hierarchical organization. Diana was competitive for public attention and overshadowed the royal family. That's against royal protocol. Spouses of royals are required to be supportive and avoid drawing too much attention to themselves. Catherine is a good example of a supportive and loyal member of the monarchy. She follows the rules and protocol including the conservative dress code. Diana refused to follow all the rules and it caused conflict in the marriage and the family. ~~~ Diana was very influential in changing attitudes toward people with hiv and aids, leprosy, and mental illness. She publicly talked about her unhappy childhood and struggles with depression and bulimia. She became a fashion diva and drew attention to herself. Diana hogged the limelight. I wish Diana's fans would focus on the positive parts of Diana's life instead of the failed marriage. ~~~~~ Unfortunately the marriage was a mistake. It was an arranged marriage and not a love match. They were not compatible. Both failed to meet each others expectations and needs. Their relationship became increasingly toxic and both were miserable by 1985. They informally separated in 1986 after Charles discovered Diana was involved and in love with her bodyguard Barry Mannakee in 1985-1986. Diana said she knew when Charles rekindled his intimate relationship with Camilla in 1986. In other words Diana admitted Charles was faithful until 1986. Diana admitted she had an affair with James Hewitt starting in 1986. She usually denied her affairs but couldn't deny her affair with Hewitt because his first book about their affair was published in 1994. Diana had EIGHT or more affairs between 1985 and 1996. Four of her affairs were with married men. Her married lovers included Barry Mannakee (1985-1996), Juan Carlos(1987), Oliver Hoare (1992-1994), and Will Carling. Julia Carling identified Diana as the cause of her divorce from Will Carling. Diana knowingly hurt other women. ~~~~~ I thought it was very hypocritical of Diana to blame Camilla for the problems in the marriage in her 1995 BBC Panorama interview. At the time Diana's reputation was tarnished and she was labeled a home wrecker in the tabloids. I suspect Diana blamed Camilla to divert attention away from her affairs. Diana was angry at Charles because he publicly confessed in 1994 that his marriage was irretrievably broken down and that's when he renewed his intimate relationship with Camilla in 1986. Charles's confession was in response to the 1993 Camillagate scandal. Hewitt's book and Charles's confession added credibility to the tabloid reports of Diana's affairs. I believe Diana was defensive in her BBC Panorama interview and wanted to divert attention away from her affairs. ~~~~~~~~~~~ I often reply to videos and comments that blame Charles and Camilla for everything wrong in Diana's life. There are no perfect people. All of them made mistakes. I wish Diana's fans would stop focusing on their failed marriage and focus on the positive parts of Diana's life.
This was 1986. Charles and Diana were already on the “outs” at this point. She doesn’t even wait for him to line up in the Abbey. He seems to be doing his best to just sit next to her. So sad. They were both at fault in different ways. However she was 19 when she got engaged. She barely knew anything about living life. He was 32. Well educated and well traveled. But in love with another woman. It was a disaster in the making. We just didn’t know it.
Charles and Camilla are not some grand love story. Camilla wasn't even his favourite mistress - that was the late Lady Kanga. Camilla's advantage was her proximity to Charles and always making herself available. If Camilla was so besotted by Charles, she never would have married Parker Bowles. Charles could have married Camilla back when they were both single but he wanted to play the field. Both were content to cheat on their respective spouses. They are a couple of amoral people. Poor Diana. She really didn't have a chance.
Despite all the heartaches he put her through. Diana was allways the best good looking lady wherever she went. She was so attractive at Fergies wedding. You couldn't missed òut on her beauty and elegance. Lady Diana was beautifull she had everything a beautifull woman needed. Diana could wear a plastic bag and still looked beautifull. She was such a smart woman. That legs she had. That heaven blue eyes and that honest smile. Diana was and is and will allways be loved no matter what. Allways princess Diana!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Considering it was a wedding, you have Charles ignoring Diana,Anne and Mark not happy,also the duke and duchess of Kent. Margaret looking lonely. Not a good track record! I loved seeing Diana again in this. Much as I like Catherine,Diana will always be my Princess of Wales.
Princess Diana beautifull as allways. She stand out with her unique dress. Never mind what way Charles looked. Princess Diana was far to good and pretty for him! 🌹🌹🌹🌹🙏
No so simple but I remember it as a youngster and it was lovely but shame Diana didn't stay and Fergie and shame she had to die as well. Sad to see the queen not the same without her
Prince Philip and the queen tried to reason with Diana after her tell-all book was published. Philip corresponded with Diana trying to help her understand what she was doing to the monarchy. Diana's book trash-talked the royal family. Philip encouraged her to be loyal to the royal family. Philip stopped speaking to Diana after her BBC Panorama interview.
This is nonsense! Charles was nearly beside himself with worry of Diana's infidelities and indiscretions, not to mention her paranoia and determination to upstage the Queen and evert ither member of the family.
@@MandyJMaddison 1) Charles cheated first both emotionally and physically. 2) Diana never wanted to upstage the Queen. What you see on this footage is nothing.
The look Charles gives Diana when he joins her in the queue is so dismissive. And also when they are sat down he’s looking the other way, anything but communicate with her and Diana looks sad. Such a shame ☹️
Charles is all ears but couldn’t listen. He is thick as a brick. Just like his brother Andrew. So dismissive of others because they were all brought up spoiled ass brats. Waited on hand and foot. How else would one expect them to behave. Now Camilla is getting hers😂

Can't believe I'm reading such misogynistic crap in today's day and age, wow. Some people of GB sure are backward, still.. Don't think being queen consort was her priority than standing by the truth ya caveman. The concept of self-respect is clearly lost on you.
@@aparna776 Diana clearly did not have any self-respect. If she had, she would have kept her complaints to herself or found a more discreet shoulder to cry on. Never explain. Never complain. The other Royal women knew and understood that. She should have followed Queen Alexandra's example. She kept her husband, her crown, her dignity and the love of everyone, by keeping quiet.
I agree. It was an arranged marriage and Charles even told Diana he didn't love her before the wedding. Diana was irrational. Then disappointed, angry, and vengeful. She intentionally undermined Charles. She broke one of the biggest royal family tattoos. She shared family dirty laundry with the public. In 1995 the queen fired Diana from the royal family.
Wow - what I see is Diana stuck with a cold, cold family. No one acknowledges her, looks her way, says hello, makes small talk, nothing, even though they are right next to her. Charles looking anywhere but at his young wife. The only friendly one was Fergie's father on the balcony. This is a happy occasion, not a funeral! Poor Diana, stuck with that lot. Didn't work out so well for Fergie, either, down the road.
Diana wanted to be a member of the royal family. It was her childhood dream. Diana's childhood nickname was Duch, short for Duchess. She believed she was destined to marry into the royal family. ~~~~~ She knew a lot about the family, it was unrealistic of her to believe that the royal family would provide the love and attention she didn't get in her childhood from her family.
@@karlamccullough5319 I don't think that she expected love and attention from the royal family but she did expect her husband to appreciate and value her instead of being jealous. She wanted her husband to be faithful. She would have appreciated advice on how to handle the glare of the public and media at first. They didn't give her support or advice on anything - instead, they were quick to criticize and put her down. Diana had to navigate everything on her own - and she was naturally graceful and was a perfect match to be an unofficial ambassador for the UK. Unfortunately Charles was the prince who turned into a toad.
Firenze, It was Diana's perception that she didn't get any advice and help. When Charles tried to advise Diana, she perceived his encouragement to follow the rules as criticism and mistreatment. Diana had people working for her that provided guidance and advice. One of her private secretaries was handpicked by Charles. Patrick jephson was Diana's private secretary of 8 years. Diana could have asked Ruth Sylvia Roche, Baroness Fermoy, who was a friend and confidante of The Queen Mother and Diana's maternal grandmother. Diana struggled with mental problems. She saw herself as a victim and helpless. It wasn't the truth.
@@karlamccullough5319Sounds very familiar. I liked Diana and thought she had some very redeeming qualities but at the same time I could never have lived with her as a spouse. Nothing was ever enough and her constant need for attention and threats of self harm would wear anyone down. It was so easy to blame Charles because he wasn’t the one always crying and looking sad. Never mind many of those events were carefully planned and paps called to get the pics required to back her up. People should just stay out of other’s personal relationships.
Grace, I agree. I read a few articles about Diana's mental problems and she was very different to live with. She was prone to mood swings, bulimia, self-mutilation, lying, and inattention. I think they were smiling for the camera and the public. I've seen pictures after 1987 where they were not able to hide their true feelings. Both were miserable by 1986. It's complicated. The marriage was a tragic mistake. Both had different expectations and needs. Both failed to provide what the other one needed. They were not compatible in many ways. They didn't have any common interests other than the boys. It was pretty much an arranged marriage. They didn't really know each other before the wedding. Charles was pressured into proposing to Diana by the queen and prince Philip. If you read about their courtship, proposal, and engagement, it's pretty clear that he didn't love Diana. He was surprised when she said yes to his proposal. He all but ignored her during the engagement. He was probably hoping she would break off the engagement. Diana knew in March 1981 that Charles was very fond of Camilla and they are best friends. He didn't change his bachelor lifestyle until the day before the wedding and Diana knew it. The day before the wedding Charles told Diana he didn't love her. Both had second thoughts but it was too late to cancel the big wedding. ~~~~~ Diana had unrealistic expectations primarily because she had a crush on Charles since 1977 when he was dating her sister Sarah. As a child her nickname was Duch, short for Duchess. She believed she was destined to marry into the royal family. She was raised to become a wife to an aristocrat or royal. That was her "career" plan. She had dropped out of school, lacked education, and was working in unskilled jobs, primarily child care. Her parents provided a flat in London where she was living with girlfriends. She was known to read romance novels where the main character marries her prince charming and lives happily ever after. Charles is not prince charming. I believe Diana was in love with her fantasy of Charles and she wanted her dream of being a member of the royal family. ~~~~~ The honeymoon was a disaster. Diana refused therapy at that time. Charles had ended his intimate relationships with all the women he was seeing, including Camilla, just before the wedding. He wasn't willing to end his friendship with Camilla. They met in 1970 and Camilla is the most emotionally supportive person in his life. Diana wasn't emotionally mature enough to be supportive. Both Charles and Diana needed supportive people in their lives. Diana was extremely emotionally needy. @nicolemurphy2629 agree during the first 5 years. After that, it got ugly. There were a lot of outside influences that prompted Diana to want to hurt and undermine Charles and Camilla with her 1992 book and her 1995 BBC Panorama interview.

Diana said what she wanted people to believe. She was often biased and one-sided, not fully truthful. Diana was very sweet and loving to the public. Her private life was very different. Diana caused Will Carling's divorce and she tried to break up Oliver Hoare's marriage. Diana had 8 or more affairs before the divorce was final in 1996. There were more than 3 people in their marriage. There was even a rumor that Diana had an affair with Henry Hebert, Earl of Pembroke, in 1983. There was a rumor that Charles was not Harry's father. Diana was mesmerizing, but some of those 80s outfits of hers were even bad for 80s standards, starting with her own wedding gown. In the 90s her wardrobe got better. To me, fashion wise, she looked her best in the very early 80s (again with exception to that wedding gown) and in the late 90s when she passed. You just wish you could have dressed her in between those two stages. Whoever was in charge of styling her then really did her dirty with that.
God. No member of the family engaged in any conversation whatsoever with poor Diana. Charles sat there like a bloody stuffed shirt! She looked very upset and uncomfortable Shame on them! Who'd want to be part of that disfunctional family!
At the time if this wedding the marriage was unofficially over. Charles had resumed his intimate relationship with Camilla after discovering Diana having an affair with her married Bodyguard Barry Mannake in 1985/86. And Diana was having an affair with James Hewitt. Camilla has been Charles loving and supportive wife for nearly 20 years. Diana was never a loving or supportive wife to Charles.

Diana had mental problems caused by her unhappy childhood. Diana refused therapy. Charles was never prepared to deal with Diana's mental problems. He retreated to reading his books. She said she was in love with Barry Mannakee (1985-1986), James Hewitt (1986-1991), Oliver Hoare (1992-1994), and Hasnat Kahn (1995-1997). Diana had difficulty sustaining relationships, including her relationships with her family. Most of her affairs didn't last very long. Her affair with Hewitt was interrupted in 1989, he was in Germany. Diana was involved with James Gilbey in 1989. Remember Squidgygate? My point is I'm not sure Diana even understood what love is. It's not just physical attraction. I believe she mistook physical attraction for love.
Seeing Harry on King Charles shoulders really makes me mad at Harry thinking back to him lying and saying how cold his father was , any dad that put's their child on their shoulder's like that would definitely give a hug to a child just being told his mother passed away .

Diana admitted Charles was a good father.
The big difference between Charles and Diana's pictures with their children is Diana often took the boys to public places where they were photographed.
Charles usually took them to family private properties, like Balmoral, and away from the paparazzi.
Diana was a beautiful, kind and an amazing princess, loved by nations.
She was also highly manipulative

This outfit of Diana so nice ,many beautiful outfits here, nice ladies
Right!
All ladies were nice
~~~
Diana was very influential in changing attitudes toward people with hiv and aids, leprosy, and mental illness. She publicly talked about her unhappy childhood and struggles with depression and bulimia. She became a fashion diva and drew attention to herself.
Diana hogged the limelight. I wish Diana's fans would focus on the positive parts of Diana's life instead of the failed marriage.
~~~~~
Unfortunately the marriage was a mistake.
~~~~~
I thought it was very hypocritical of Diana to blame Camilla for the problems in the marriage in her 1995 BBC Panorama interview.
At the time Diana's reputation was tarnished and she was labeled a home wrecker in the tabloids. I suspect Diana blamed Camilla to divert attention away from her affairs. Diana was angry at Charles because he publicly confessed in 1994 that his marriage was irretrievably broken down and that's when he renewed his intimate relationship with Camilla in 1986. Charles's confession was in response to the 1993 Camillagate scandal. Hewitt's book and Charles's confession added credibility to the tabloid reports of Diana's affairs. I believe Diana was defensive in her BBC Panorama interview and wanted to divert attention away from her affairs.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I often reply to videos and comments that blame Charles and Camilla for everything wrong in Diana's life. There are no perfect people. All of them made mistakes.
I wish Diana's fans would stop focusing on their failed marriage and focus on the positive parts of Diana's life.
I remember this! The Queen was so happy here!
It was said that Andrew was her favorite child.

He - and the entire establishment - were naive to assume she’d accept what they were asking her to accept.

Diana clearly did not have any self-respect.
~~~~~
She knew a lot about the family, it was unrealistic of her to believe that the royal family would provide the love and attention she didn't get in her childhood from her family.
@@karlamccullough5319 I don't think that she expected love and attention from the royal family but she did expect her husband to appreciate and value her instead of being jealous. She wanted her husband to be faithful. She would have appreciated advice on how to handle the glare of the public and media at first. They didn't give her support or advice on anything - instead, they were quick to criticize and put her down. Diana had to navigate everything on her own - and she was naturally graceful and was a perfect match to be an unofficial ambassador for the UK. Unfortunately Charles was the prince who turned into a toad.
Firenze,
It was Diana's perception that she didn't get any advice and help.
When Charles tried to advise Diana, she perceived his encouragement to follow the rules as criticism and mistreatment.
Diana had people working for her that provided guidance and advice. One of her private secretaries was handpicked by Charles. Patrick jephson was Diana's private secretary of 8 years.
Diana could have asked Ruth Sylvia Roche, Baroness Fermoy, who was a friend and confidante of The Queen Mother and Diana's maternal grandmother.
Diana struggled with mental problems. She saw herself as a victim and helpless. It wasn't the truth.
@@karlamccullough5319Sounds very familiar. I liked Diana and thought she had some very redeeming qualities but at the same time I could never have lived with her as a spouse. Starlight,
1986 was the year Diana and Charles were informally separated.
•Charles wanted a divorce in 1986 after he learned Diana was in love with her bodyguard, Barry Mannakee.
•Charles renewed his intimate relationship with Camilla in 1986.
•Diana started an affair with James Hewitt in 1986.
~~~~~~
The body language between Charles and Diana in this video says a lot. Looks like they were distancing themselves away from each other.
@@karlamccullough5319 but they were talking and she was laughing in the carriage 😢. One more question did she start the affair after learning that he started an affair with Carmella or before it? As far as I read and know since the honeymoon he was distansing himself from her. Please correct me if I am wrong.
~~~~~
Diana had unrealistic expectations primarily because she had a crush on Charles since 1977 when he was dating her sister Sarah. As a child her nickname was Duch, short for Duchess. She believed she was destined to marry into the royal family. She was raised to become a wife to an aristocrat or royal. That was her "career" plan. She had dropped out of school, lacked education, and was working in unskilled jobs, primarily child care. Her parents provided a flat in London where she was living with girlfriends.
She was known to read romance novels where the main character marries her prince charming and lives happily ever after. Charles is not prince charming. I believe Diana was in love with her fantasy of Charles and she wanted her dream of being a member of the royal family.
~~~~~
The honeymoon was a disaster. Charles planned a 3 month relaxing vacation to get to know each other. They didn't know each other. Diana was disappointed, angry, argumentative, and she had a destructive outburst of anger. She was binge eating and purging multiple times a day and crying. Just saying, the smell of vomit is not an afridesiac. Charles found a therapist for her before the honeymoon was over.
She suffered from depression, low self-esteem, and self-destructive behaviors including bulimia before she met Charles. She had mental problems caused by her unhappy childhood. She had anxiety disorders related to her mother leaving her children when Diana was age 6. Her parents marriage was toxic. Diana was emotionally neglected. She said she felt unwanted and unloved as a child. Diana had many of the traits and symptoms of borderline personality disorder (BPD). She struggled with depression, bulimia, and insomnia most of her life.
~~~~
Charles was never prepared or capable of providing the level of attention Diana wanted. Charles is stoic, a workaholic, introverted, and extremely loyal to the royal family. He normally performs royal family duties 7 days a week from early morning until late at night. He wasn't available to provide the level of attention Diana needed.
~~~~
Diana fell in love with her bodyguard, Barry Mannakee in 1985-1986. Mannakee was "there" providing the attention Diana craved. They were spending a lot of time alone together, openly flirted, and others noticed. Allen Peters, another bodyguard, noticed and informed Charles. Charles ended his intimate relationship with Diana in order to avoid any misunderstanding of paternity for future pregnancies. Otherwise it would be possible for Diana to have a child by another man and pass the child off as an heir to the throne. That would be high treason.
It appears Diana was involved with Mannakee before Charles renewed his intimate relationship with Camilla.
~~~~~
Being unfaithful wasn't their biggest problem. There was a lot more wrong in the marriage. I believe Charles grew very fond of Diana and they had happy moments before 1984. The relationship was crumbling by 1984 and increasingly toxic, both were miserable. I believe Charles was overwhelmed by Diana's self-destructive behaviors, he was sympathetic at first but became irritated. Especially since she refused therapy. Diana was moody and irrational, living with her was an emotional roller-coaster.
~~~~
They informally separated in 1986. The toxicity in the relationship continued until the divorce. Diana had 8 or more affairs before the divorce was final. Some of her affairs were with married men. Most of her affairs didn't last very long. Apparently she had difficulty establishing and sustaining a long-term relationship with any man. Charles and Camilla have been together since 1986 and apparently have a successful relationship. They are soulmates. It's sad that the queen refused to approve their marriage in 1972.
~~~~
On the other hand, Diana would not have become a celebrity if she had not married Charles.
~~~~
There are no perfect people. Everyone makes mistakes.
@@karlamccullough5319
They both coped admirably with being in a forced marriage…
That’s for sure…..
@nicolemurphy2629 agree during the first 5 years. After that, it got ugly. There were a lot of outside influences that prompted Diana to want to hurt and undermine Charles and Camilla with her 1992 book and her 1995 BBC Panorama interview.

Diana was being defensive. Diana's affairs were reported in the tabloids and she was labeled a home wrecker in 1994/1995.
Diana's reputation was tarnished by the tabloid reports. In 1995, she wanted to destroy Charles's reputation. Her BBC Panorama interview was intended to hurt and undermine Charles. She wanted to divert attention away from her affairs, she wanted public support and sympathy.
Diana's 1995 BBC Panorama interview prompted the queen to request the divorce. Basically Diana was fired from her position in the royal family for sharing the family dirty laundry with the public, undermining Charles, and being disloyal to the monarchy.

Diana said she loved Charles. I suspect she was in love with her fantasy of Charles and her childhood dream of being a member of the royal family.
The honeymoon was a disaster. They didn't really know each other before the wedding. Charles planned a 3 month relaxing honeymoon vacation to get to know each other. Two weeks on the royal yacht and over two months at Balmoral. Diana had unrealistic expectations and was disappointed and angry. She pretended to like Balmoral before the wedding to gain the queen's approval to marry Charles. Diana didn't like Balmoral. She was binge eating and purging multiple times a day and crying. She had a destructive outburst and Charles was alarmed. He found a therapist for Diana before the honeymoon was over. Diana had mental problems caused by her unhappy childhood. Diana refused therapy. Charles was never prepared to deal with Diana's mental problems. He retreated to reading his books.
He had a number of doctors see Diana trying to help her. Diana needed and refused professional help. Charles was sympathetic at first but became irritated and disgusted by Diana's bulimia and other self-destructive behaviors. They were not compatible. Both failed to meet each others expectations and needs. Their relationship became increasingly toxic and both were miserable by 1985. They informally separated in 1986.

Diana had 8 or more affairs before the divorce was final in 1996.
Where is prince William and prince Harry?????
Oh my! How humiliating for Diana, it looked as though she had a few!
So what? She was only 25 years old that’s nice to see her finally having some kind of fun
@@donnageorge3730 um.....ok...... I was pointing out my observations on what I watched & I meant no ill intent, so keep your knickers on.
Polka dots! Why did she wear so many polka dots? And that hat....🤭!
@@tessdurberville711 I think she dressed down(still looked good though) on purpose to keep the spotlight on Sarah that day.
@@tessdurberville711 - It was the 80’s ffs, give her a break. That was cool then, OBVIOUSLY. Why are you so down on Diana?
They are jealous
From this phase she should have understood she should walk alone❤
