My dad was a paratrooper in the Normandy Invasion/Battle of the Bulge..he died 2005..Greatest Generation Ever! 🇺🇸👍💕
@C. Michael don't be so disrespectful.
@C. Michael Troll off.
thank you for your Dad and his service Kathleen.
Bless that man, I hope he's resting peacefully.
Im sorry for your loss he was a true man paratrooper is no joke
Horrible that there are so little views, in school today nothing was said about D day not from teachers students anyone. These people are heroes and it is sickening that nothing was said about it, children should be told about what happened 75 years ago and understand the sacrifice these people made for the wellbeing of their family's and country's. True heroes
I was told about this in school though? It usually is a part of the curriculum if I remember correctly.
My 5 year old was saying about it today, well what she understands anyway.
It's up to all of us adults to never forget and pass this on to our children, not just teachers. Although it should always been in the curriculum.
Where is this? In the US, students are out of school. That's a real shame.
gus black My history teacher made sure to cover it. He said he’d be derelict in his duty as a history teacher to not cover it. He’s a very thorough man, and lead a class to get 5’s on the AP’s
Ethan Flight 4:15 Nobody clap for Churchill.
We don't have many years left with our veterans, these events will become more and more important as we bid an eternal farewell to them one by one.
"Lest we forget; for our tomorrow, they gave their today."
Rest in peace.
Correct, the last WW1 veteran passed in 2012 so we have 15 years at the very most before all WW2 veterans are gone. May they all rest in peace
@@MegaTamer111 believe it or not i found a 92 year old vet from ww2 , surprisingly young ! God bless all

Boy, if these guys were scared back then, they sure didn't show it. They are true heroes to this day.
MrJx4000 A lot of them did show it and broke down though. Takes nothing away from them either though.
'For your tomorrows, they gave their today'. We will never forget. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you did to keep us free. Xx
It’s amazing to see the men and women who risked their lives for us to create the world we live in today. It’s so humbling to think of how even in the end when they were brought so far down that they could rise to such standards, and finish what they had begun.
What a great job they did on this Commemoration! Loved to see the Vets coming out on stage. So proud to be a serving member of the Canadian Forces (31 years now).
Even though I'm an American, thank you for your service to your country. Through the troubling times of the last few years, you are still and will always be a wonderful ally of my nation. Thank you again.

@C. Michael Its just a saying so get over it.
Beautiful, beautiful video. As I type this, eyes swollen with tears, I think back on my grandfather, a US Navy officer stationed in the Pacific. Never have a met a man so honest, true, and loving. I know many of you reading this have a person like this in your life. Events like WWII will always remind us that no matter our perceived differences, in the face of tyranny and totalitarian rule we were and are as one. One world brought together to fight against the worst kind of evil that can dwell in mankind. Thank you to all those who made the sacrifice.
This has to be one of the most beautiful ceremony I’ve ever seen. We will thank you for 1000 years and more!
Glory and Honor to them.
Honoring and Respecting all those Multi-National HEROES.

Where are the German veterans? Would have been nice to include them as a sign of reconciliation for both sides.
@Cassandre Col. Von Stauffenberg and Operation Valkyrie......
My grandfather is a German WWII veteran. He was 17 back then and he's now 93. He fought in the Battle for Germany in 1945 (Münster region), was wounded in combat and taken prisoner of war by the Canadians. His father (a WWI Battle of Verdun Veteran) died during WWII as a civilian during allied bombing of their village. His older brother was a Lieutenant on a U-Boat and never came back from his mission (his brother, the Lieutenant, knew that he wouldn't survive that mission). Thought this might interest some of you.
My grandfather, Sgt Mark Ojango Muyeshi fought for the British in the Kings African Rifles Regiment (East Africa Battalion) in the jungles of Burma from 1943 to 1945. He is a hero too.
Eternal Gratitude for the Boys who were in Normandie for D-Day and until the end of this black days...

@@joshuasumner2397 He is saying that we did so much that he can't repay us enough
And they did it all as kids... 18 y/o risking everything, storming the beaches and taking hills. These days, people need a day off from work or school because someone said something mean on social media.
That stage today held what is really "The Greatest Generation"
Wargutz666 fricking sad, right?
They grew in a different era where strength and virtue were just the standards but now it caters to weakness.
We can appreciate and respect the courage, dedication, and service over self, of the WWII generation without denigrating the strength or virtue of anyone else born since. The younger generation today have been saddled with the intimidating responsibility of facing a global climate catastrophe which some of us are unlikely to see. Think of it as if our young folk are still in Portsmouth, not yet the crossing, not yet the beaches, but those challenges are coming. This young generation will rise to that occasion as well. Be proud of them, and thank them when they guarantee ecological stability and sustainability. A different kind of charge just as essential as D-Day.
@@tangerinesky2604 A global climate catastrophe? Really?

Thanks to the veteran and all the men and women who have sacrificed for freedom. We will never be able to give them the same. we are indebted to them forever
So few veterans remain. We honour them and must never forget their bravery and always remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice.
We will never forget ...thank you ❤
We are so lucky to still have so many veterans still with us plus the Queen who was a young princess then. The world needs to be reminded of the sacrifice it took to be where we are today. Please keep the optimism and goodness alive; remember the good guys won!

YOUR SERVICE 🔉🔊
Five years ago today I had the great honour to be on Juno Beach with my husband and two adult nieces, for the 70th Anniversary of D-Day. Going to France, seeing the graves at Beny-Sur-Mer, making an Inukshuk on the Beach at Dieppe where my husbands Father served with the Royal Highland Regiment of Canada - the Black Watch from Montreal, and leaving silk poppies, Canadian Flags and a write up about my maternal Grandfather who fought at the Somme and Vimy, at the Vimy Monument was awe-inspiring. This is a trip that every Canadian should try to make - I guarantee you that standing at that immense, intense, incredible monument at Vimy is life-changing and overwhelming. You will waver between pride and tears - particularly at the Commonwealth-Canadian Cemeteries, when you read the AGES of the soldiers - many still boys, really, it sticks in your throat. We can never thank the men and women of the Allied Forces enough. For our tomorrow they gave their today.
" At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them". LEST WE FORGET.
Canuckmom1958 ....thank you to you and yours from Lancashire England
We remember reading in our Literature class the letter of an RAF soldier during the war.
God bless them all
The greatest generation. Long live democracy and free speech. Thankyou Allies

May those warriors, finally, find a degree of peace elusively sought over their lifetimes. The world was, indeed, saved from, then, evil. Your efforts, and those of the fallen are, eternally, acknowledged, appreciated and valued. An honored tribute to the living, fallen and their families. Blessings from a current, proudly serving soldier whose service shall never compare.
Your service and sacrifice is equally valued. Never forget that. Thank you and your family - from a country-loving Patriot.
Knowing history is a duty. Knowing history is an honour. Knowing history is all we need to looking forward and facing up to the future🇮🇹❤️🙏🏼
I have just attended a very moving funeral of Cedric Wasser, (REME) a D-Day hero and relation of mine. He made the 75th anniversary celebration cruise and was a proud gentleman who I was privileged to have known.
Not many veterans left from WWII now, they're all in their 90's many in their late 90s! The 80th anniversary in 2024 will have even less, a lot less. I salute them. 💯🥇💨✨

My father was a USA WWII Vet. Landed a few weeks after D Day in La Harve, France, fought in France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Austria and along the CZ border, could he tell some interesting situations, good and bad, my brother and myself both served and retired from the USA Army, this You tune is excellent, I do enjoy WWII history, major interest about the Eastern Front, and German armor and wheeled vehicles, and equipment. Go ARMY
My grandfather was a Army combat engineer. He died in an ambush in Rambouillet, France. He is buried in Normandy. May your father rest in peace if he has passed.

Thanks Veterans!! City of Guelph and Wellington County 75th D-Day Anniversary Event Sat June 8th 12:30 Guelph Cenotaph..join us to remember and say thanks!!
The finest Generation indeed. Ages 16 -20-odd years old. When I think about what I was doing at that age, I feel gratitude and humility because without these Heroes, I wouldn't have been able to live the life I did without their Bravery and Valour. Tomes will be written about these men for lifetimes. As a Canadian I lost a Great-Uncle whom of course I never met. May our Men always have peace. They fought for, and won it. All the services, all of our Men.
I thank these men for their fight.
We salute you.

Fact: Canadians were the ultimate badasses of World War II
My Dad was there from Shearwater Nova Scotia Canada, he was 20 years old.
True, and yet look how far Little Potato is from the center of world leaders. I think the milkman is sitting closer to the Queen than he is... lol
My dad was a troop commander with Canadian Artillery - 🇨🇦he arrived in Normandy July 44 , he died 11 years ago age 91- became a family Doctor and had 8 kids - my mother was a brave Irish / English war bride -
Indeed, they were.
