@@berserko2008 So social media somehow plays a factor into how hard they train? I hate all those apps too but come on; how does that even relate? The day when a bodybuilder decides to put even just 95% of their effort in is the year they give up on running for Mr. Olympia- no matter the generation or what apps they didn't/do have.

@@ballaking1000 my point was you didn't have all these outlets at your fingertips to put yourself out there like nowadays........ you had to bust your ass and have a strong work ethic..... I mean if you weren't there or into the sport and knew how sh%t was back then, you shouldn't even be trying to retort back anything with no ground to stand on....... you had to be really, really, I MEAN BADASS back then to get the notoriety of the magazines and the coverage that so easily obtained from these outlets........

@George Email I just think they had shitty genetics in my opinion, i do envy their dedication to the sport. The reason Rhoden would beat Flex would be because of better Symmetry of muscle proportions but flex would then win if Rhoden fails to come in fully sharp. today they don't look like they been dieting or starving like the older Ronnie days :D. And Phil Heath prime still looks better than flex in my opinion again because of the symmetry and muscle proportions.

Dexter didn't fair that well back then because he was new and still growing. Dex in his prime would beat most of the '90s crew.

This was exactly what I was saying: you can't argue that the 90's was the best era and no one can compare/compete with those guys. However, that doesn't mean you take away from the champions of other eras.

When I think about my amateur bodybuilding career, starting in 9th grade in 1979, through my college years ending in 1989, I realize that my training, nutrition, supplementation, EVERYTHING wouldn't hold a candle to what is going on right now. I think I worked hard (obviously not hard enough to go pro), but there is no way those in my time could complete with the same training and nutrition as today. What gets to me is the massive amount of injury and illness these days. I'm fairly certain some of my own health problems are a result of "supplementation" in the 80's. I can't imagine what the current guys are going to have to endure later in life.

Dorian gave a brutally honest oppinion.
Ronnie was sedated out of his mind and couldn't even answer.
Flex gave the most diplomatic answer.
He really changed for the better over the years.

I have to disagree. Ronnie gave the BRUTALLY honest opinion, he laughed at the idea and so did I. Dorian was just straight with it and so was Flex.

So, what exactly were the guys from the 90s doing, or not doing that allowed them to have such better conditioning on stage? Its all good and well to compare but what is the actual reason as to why conditioning has gone gotten worse?
