I love how animated Pat got during this discussion. His passion from his former body building days really shows through.
Yeah he is a gym bro for life
My favorite thing about bodybuilding is the competitors are so kind to each other. Always respectful and positive with non-stop genuine compliments
Yeah, mutual struggle, mutual respect
Except for Arnold
@@legacy79-jt1gbshut up ... he loved his mentor and Franco too but as a competitor u have to out smart the tougher opponents too
I think it’s because they know that most of them might suffer from body dysmorphia so they know they really need those words of encouragement
Mike Menzner conquered the crucifix and victory pose, and that photo of Flex is awesome.
Never expected to see Chris here, it's a pleasant surprise
Bob Paris ❤ Chris knows whats up. Bob had an absolutely incredible physique. Happy to hear he continues to inspire the guys now x
Bob was amazing cut from stone
Patrick what a random guest wouldn’t really expect this but an amazing interview this guy is amazing
Clearly ur a new watcher on Patrick’s stuff lol or didn’t listen to what he has said in this podcast
Can't believe you guys missed Zane.
Frank Zane and Serge Nubret had the absolute best physiques in history.
Good call !
If your talking pure aesthetics and for that time period yes, but if your talking bbing, I would go with several other ppl, I think Zane needed alittle better legs, lats, and overall size,
I think it's obvious they heavily bias size AND symmetry
@@joshhigdon4951LANRADA??
Arnold with today's knowledge and science would still be at the top.
He had great genetics and one of the most pleasing physiques.
Drive is also a huge factor.
his waist was too wide, sergio oliva was better
Absolutely Arnold will eat all...even Sergio won't be enough to beat him....
I’d have to disagree to an extent. It’s the way Arnold trained that made him look so good. Bodybuilders today are just big. That’s it. In the 70s they were athletic. They were running, cycling, and powerlifting. They would even do lifts during a bodybuilding show. The guys today are so unhealthy during the show. Arnold has the perfect athletic body. Today these guys look like people who are very good at isolating muscles and growing them.
@@nevermind2322 I hope you joking.Arnold have little bigger waist than Sergio but 3xtime wider back than Sergio.
By the way, the 5'6 weight limit for Mr. Olympia Classic Physique is 187lbs. So no, Shawn Ray would never have made that not in any year he was competing.
Fun fact: Before becoming 007, Sean Connery entered the Mr. Universe pageant in 1953 in London. He was 23 at the time. Although he didn't end up winning that year, instead coming in third place.
Isn't it amazing what we can do with our bodies? Never ceases to amaze me XxX
You can't do this stuff naturally. It's not possible.
Get rid of steroids and other enhancing drugs outa of bodybuilding then will see who the goat is.
@@paulomontero12probably the exact same people because of genetics
Arnold, Sergio, Steve Reeves, Frank Zane, Lee Haney, and Serge Nubret.
I didnt knew Patrick knew so many bodybuilders really interesting to see hik talking about it with cbum
I personally think Lou Ferrigno was the best given his height of 6’5”. An amazing physique
I'm a huge Lou ferrigno fan. Loved him as the incredible hulk when I was a kid. I got to meet him at the YMCA in Rome New York years ago. He was doing an autograph signing. Pretty cool. If he had stuck with competitive bodybuilding he would have been amazing. He already was but Arnold was in his way. Should have stuck it out but he was disheartened after losing to arnold. Did pretty well with his movie career early on though. Legend.
He def had a good physique but arnold, sergio etc were better
Lou , the second year of his comeback...after he blew the Masters win the year earlier... came in the a total POWERHOUSE!
Absolutely, amazing.
Always makes you wonder, what if....
Lou showed up though..over 300lbs "allegedly" , big as house, cut to ribbons, with great posing.
One of the greatest of all time
No....wide knee joints, high calf insertions. Standing next to Arnold in '75 his weaknesses were thrown into bold contrast.
@@yoholmes273. Lou looked AMAZING when he came back. One of the best physiques I’ve ever seen!
Charles Clairmonte, Matt Mendenhall, Danny Padilla, Pavilion Jablonicky - some other incredible physiques.
Excellent names, you know your stuff! I was a big fan of Thierry Pastel, Andreas Munzer, Mohammed Makkawi, & Lee Priest as well
@@EricStuder89The first time Jay Cutler saw Lee Priest, he wondered how he could move. Still my favorite bodybuilder picture was Lee flexing his triceps and Tom Platz’s reaction.
@@chrisweidner4768 yeah Lee Priest has some crazy genetics. It's amazing how much that plays into bodybuilders too
What a beautiful human being👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️🙏🏼
Loved this interview 💪🏼
8:05 Berry de Mey from The Netherlands! 🇳🇱
All-American is a term for personality traits - honest, hardworking and healthy, it is not about country of origin. But de Mey was slept on for sure.
man... Lee Priest still under appreciated
Gary Strydom needs to be recognised as one of the greatest
He was a beast for sure
67,68,69 Sergio won the Olympia. 77,78,79 Zane won the Olympia. That's one comparison that can be made that shows that the former champion was heavier and larger than the latter champion. Just because time passes on , doesn't mean that the size and weight have to increase.
Berry De May is Dutch not American.
He did have nice lines to his physique in the 80's and early 90's👍💪
When you call someone all-american it is not about country of origin, but their personality being honest, hardworking and healthy. Cool of Chris to include de Mey and Paris. Definetly two I liked too.
Sergio Oliva Sr. One of the best shape and classic look bodybuilder ever.
He is one of the best for sure
Arnold is still the most aesthetic physique I've seen. The waist, shoulders ratio and the incredible chest and arms. Legs could have been bigger and back, but to look at he was superb.
What about Frank Zane?
No legs, back, delts or triceps lol
@@brianlonergan3588get well soon
Dorian swallows Arnold in every area. Arnold looked soft compared to Dorian, Flex, Ronnie and Jay
@@brianlonergan3588 He had all of the above in 1971, 1973/74.
One question, why doesn't anyone talk about Lee Haney??? 8 time Mr. Olympia.
Steve Reeves 100% the GOAT for naturals
Arnold for enhanced you really can’t beat him
Can't beat Arnold? Lol, He was good for his day but compared to a bunch of guys that have came since him, he's not the best.....he had a wide waist, no triceps, weak legs....... definitely not the best physique
@@mikebird5148 Of course he is not the best compared with 50 years of additional knowledge of training and chemical science.
Take a 1970 Arnold and let him be trained by Hany for a year and it would be lights out for the rest of the competitors.
@@brian4544 Lmao NO it would not be lights out, it's crazy that people think a guy all the way back in the 70's is the greatest bodybuilder ever, so many guys have came since Arnold that had better physiques, hell, Sergio Olivia was better than Arnold back in those days, doesn't matter what new gear and training methods Arnold jumped on because he simply didn't have the genetics to beat the best of today......plus he was a tall bodybuilder, they do worse in today's game as it's harder to fill out that tall frame...
@@mikebird5148 LMAO You're entitled to you opinion.
Larry Scott should be part of the conversation. He was the first Mr. O. Amazing physique, especially his arms.
Mike Mentzer and Frank Zane not being mentioned shows some significant lack of bodybuilding knowledge. I’d rather look like them than anyone else mentioned.
Ronnie bodybuilt as a power lifter. He lifted like a power lifter, and got jacked from it.
Franco Colombu also trained like a power lifter, and is the strongest bodybuilder pound for pound till this day but Ronnie was just a different creature. They both suffered grievous injuries.
@@nameless458true but Franco was way better than him ... Ronnie was amazing while he was 16th
lol the guy on the left is just verbally blowing him. “So you do everything right?? You’re pretty great dude” 😂 ask him a better question
Arnold, Frank zane, Sergio Olivia
Steve reeves too
I like Zane and Mentzer. Not too big but insanely aesthetic and symmetrical.
5:58 koskesh 😂😂😂
People give Arnold shit bout his legs but his chest size was nuts.
His legs from 71-74 were good for the time but in 75 they were a little down sized and that’s the version people remember the most cus of pumping Iron.
We're all gonna make it brahs
“Yea, but that’s just your opinion man.” Find the picture of Lee Priest flexing his triceps, and Tom Platz’s reaction. Look at peak Roelly Winklaar. Paul Dillett, Danny Padilla……So many greats.
Director was freaked seeing Rogan in the Ad 😄
Arnold and Zane most aesthetic of all time… They set the bar for Aesthetics🤷🏾♂️
Jay is the 🐐
Love jay, but it's ronnie coleman for me
Jay is built like a fridge
Steve Reeves. OK - he wouldn't be Top 50 now. But he was doin' it in 1947 when basically no one else was. Guys like him are the shoulders upon which you stand.
I prefer 70-90s bb over current mass monsters.
Lee Labrada and Frank Zane are my all-time favorites
Serge Nubert had the greatest physique of ALL TIME!!!!
Then after him you can make your list. He was that far away from everyone else IMO
no legs and one dimensional physique. his abs were messed up, and no posing ability, no charisma.
yep, Serge's the GOAT of aesthetic. Given how he was done dirty in that 1975 lineup, just shame on the Weider's for doing that to him
Alongside Francis Benfatto
Serge Nubret
I never seen the attraction with Colemans physique.
A bulky mess
He was unbelievable in the early 90s
Kroon275 exactly… dont like it either… i prefer Yates hands down, that was mass with class
@Valuetainment to be honest, I have sat down and gone through all the greatest, do not get me wrong, the greatest and all the top bodybuilders have added to the blue print. However, from then until now, the greatest physique is Chris's. I say that because his proportions, muscle quality that has not been seen before, conditioning that I do not think has been seen before are all attributes held by him. He has already made history. However, I hope he competes again and show cases a final product that rivals that of 2023 because his back development has been an issue and this was the year he would have made the improvements but as most of us fans know, he suffered a torn lat at the start of his preparation, approx. 12 weeks before the show.
The bubble gut bonanza era started on the 2000 open BB's hahaha!
And his lisp has improved too. 👏
Flex was the most asthetic and pleasing to eyes.
He was the most symmetric body builder of all time.
Steve Reeves have one of the best he looks incredible in clothes
Exactly him and Frank Zane are the best physiques of all time
0:39 Where’s Shawn’s flattop?! 😨
Please interview the Maryland Muscle Machine Levrone !!
I really loved those one to one interview style than this
Never heard Chris speak before, but now he reminds me of the brother on 50 First Dates 🤣
Back in the early 2000's the pros were fucking massive!
“Two letter k in it” funny
His computer guy need lessons from Jamie at Joe Rogan.
Guys guys…please don’t misrepresent. He is NOT Mr Olympia. He is the winner of the CLASSIC physique at the Mr Olympia contest
Yea still impressive, but imo the guys in open are in a whole nother leauge, and imo more impressive
I think it's much easier to make it to the classic physique olimpia stage then it is the open stage, not eveyone can get that big, it takes much longer to get that size, and you have to eat and put more into it to get that big
kids and fanboys don't get that
@@dj_m19 nope they'll argue to the bitter end that chris is the goat he's mr O, when he's not lol
They know and they do not care
1996 Ronnie Coleman is the greatest bodybuilder of all time. Most complete and insane physique ever
Who’s the guy that looks like 1995 Robert De Niro and sounds like Casey Affleck?
5:55 kssskkkk HAHAHAHA, LOL
Zane was amazing but Lee Labrada was just perfect.
I agree man, Zane imo needed alittle more size, better legs and lats, it was a diff era though, and Zane was def aesthetic
This is why when you hear ppl talking about zyzz and Jeff Seid etc like there the king of aesthetics It's hilarious, bc Zane has lit been doing this 50 years before they were born
It’s fin flex wheeler and no one close. The most perfectly proportioned and symmetrical body fo all time
PBD is officially the most interesting man on the planet, he can speak about bodybuilding for hours today, politics tomorrow, business the day after and always super tuned in
Kevin Levronie 🔥🔥🔥
Lee Priest The Super man of bodybuilding ❤the perfect Symmetry body .
Lee Priest, Gary Strydom, Markus Ruhl, Nasser.
My all time Fav.
Dexter
Kevin
Frank Zane
Cbum
So if you have a hight to weight there would come a point were you cant get any bigger or your disqualified
Mike Mentzer #1
Me 300 himself, no doubt
Oh yeah buster?
🤣🤣🤣🤣 nope
Mike Mentzer had a pretty nice physique.
Arnold had the most proportionally toned body.
2:38 Joe Rogan jumpscare
No mention of yates
?
In my list
Arnold *the goat*
Steve reeves most esthetic
Franco Colombo the strongest
Big Rammy the Biggest the future
Steve reeves
Cbum: Bob Paris a lilo bit.. lol
10:15 Sam Sulek described perfectly
He’s so sweet that Lisp just puts him over the top😅😅😅😅
Classic makes no money the prize money is like 20 grand and then like $300,000 big difference
Bc one is " classic" which in all reailty Makes no sense, and the other is actual bodybuilding
Ronnie had a turtle shell for a stomach
Also. Jake the Snake Roberts had a great physique.
Put some respect on Sergio Oliva’s name 👑👑👑
Barry DeMay the All American looking guy who is from Holland lol
You show the best bodybuilders ever and you don't show Lee Haney or Dorian Yates who might be one and two that's not a very good list buddy
It's so infuriating to not see Frank Zane and Steve Reeves here
I like the silver era bodybuilders, before steroids were used. 1940s and 50s. I think it's healthier and easier to attain and keep. Bodybuilding should be healthy, not hard on the heart.
12/31/23, 11:11a.m.
From a purely aesthetic standpoint very few can compete with Frank Zane.
Everyone -Ronnie Coleman is goat
Ronnie - Arnold is goat
Ronnie the GOAT by far.
@TheLusianPopaand you sir are smoking crack cocaine. Ronnie is the goat and best ohysiue to step on stage easily, ok.. so you don't like ronnie, who would you put then ahead of him? LOL
@TheLusianPopahe was literally dominant everywhere
Depends what you want. If you want max size then Ronnie if the one. If you want size and aesthetics then Arnold is. If you want Greek god look then it’s Zane or reeves
Not even close. That gut of his was disguisting.
I have to go with Mike Mentzer. All the way.
Shawn ray is perfection dude. Cbum not even close
Sergio Olivia is the Greatest of ALL TIME!!!!
Arnold could not beat Frank Zane in a fair contest.
Frank Zane was incredible.
No person of his era ever could legitimately beat Sergio.
Olivia, EVER.
The idea that Arnold nor anyone else could actually beat Sergio in a fair contest is utterly absurd.
Just more manipulated Weider nonsense.
Which is why Weider banned so many tremendous champions from facing Arnold.
Sure by '74 Arnold was a complete powerhouse monster.
Years after Sergio was banned by Joe.
Sergio IS the greatest.
I don't workout to much anymore but my jobs physical..I worked out hard and played football since young age I've been blessed my physique stayed almost the same tbh I think body builders like the look ridiculous
Man I would to see serge as black panther
Steve Reeves. Everyone else can fight for second.
Mike Mentzer
Don't forget. Ronnie was strong as hell too
Ronnie Coleman first Mr. Olympia 1998
Jackie Chan for the win
😂👍🏽
I would put 3 names:
Frank Zane
Frank Zane
and
Frank Zane
Ronnie Coleman is the goat by far
Corey Morrison from men’s physique has the sickest physique ever, this guy should have put his pic
