    Just in time for tarpon season! I just upgraded my tarpon setup to the saragosa 6000 with 30# braid on a teremar Xh 8’ rod. Ready to chase some poon!

    Awesome Video and thanks for sharing all the information. Content like yours is super helpful for me. I will be in florida at the end of May for about a month. I hope I can finally catch a tarpon this year. Fingers crossed 🤞

    For tarpon, do you recommend this for artificials too? Or do you still recommend the teramar xx se?

    Sounds to me like that particular braid might be good for a topwater setup too

      Yes. Actually most of my inshore rods are spooled up with Diamond White Braid now. Remember white and grey braids are the least detectable in our style of fishing!

    Tarpon are getting smarter. I'm teaching them some lessons at the 20 to 30 class ranges.

    Why the switch from modified Albright to the FG as of late? I like both but just curious on what dictates the change

    • @flatsclasscharters
      @flatsclasscharters 16 дней назад +1

      Austin- I still use the Modified Albright on all of my leaders shorter than 4’. But these longer leaders that I have to reel up through most of my guides on the rod… merits the FG. Great question my friend👏🏼

    how far from the hook do you put your float? Also, what kind of float do you prefer?

    • @flatsclasscharters
      @flatsclasscharters 16 дней назад

      Depends on depth for where you set your float depth. For instance in 8-10’ of water you may set depth for 4’ above live bait. Floats I prefer depend on size of live bait… weighted cigar float for crabs for casting distance or bigger styro float for pnfish.

      @@flatsclasscharters Thank you! I usually fish the jetties in Charleston and never target them cause I don't have any rigs. I will try soon! Thanks!

      The Shimano Saragosa 10000 you could drop down to 8000 but there’s not a huge weight difference

    If you had to cast light to medium sized lures all day with a 3500 sized spinning reel and 15 lb braid what would your choice be? Assuming saltwater and need to skip some under mangroves. Thks

    Say CA, do you know of a guide in the Charlotte Harbor area by the name of Larry Mendez, I went fishing with him when I was 14 in the early 90's, just wondering what happened to him

    • @flatsclasscharters
      @flatsclasscharters 16 дней назад

      I remember Larry… believe he sold real estate as well as the guide gig. Don’t know whatever happened to him though… ask Capt Scott Moore they were friends
