Always appreciate you dropping the knowledge Captain. The tarpon were everywhere yesterday, getting them to bite was no problem, getting them to the boat was a different story. The redfish eye hook with that bigger gap is key.

Hi CA. Shimano Tranx makes two gear ratio reels, a 5.8:1 and a 7.6:1. Which one would you prefer for tarpon? Thanks

Man, I’m in flip flops and board shorts up here in Virginia! The water in the ware river and mobjack bay is warm enough I stood with my feet in in crocs and didn’t get cold.

Good tips there - thank you! I have never used the bimini, but have you tried the FG knot? Excellent too!

Hey there new subscriber here , loved the last video I saw of yours . I had a quick question for you , I’m planning on purchasing a new set up and was wondering what lb test to use and if to use a leader or not and if so what lb test and what kind of line . I was recommended to use seauger threadlock fishing line but that was my first time ever hearing of it . Thanks In advance 😎

I generally always use some type of leader for all of my fishing. Average weight leader for me late Spring through late Fall is 30lb leader tied to main line with a Reverse Albright Knot. Most of my spin gear for flats has 8-10lb main line.

Don’t be envious over pressured keys tarpon are extremely difficult to catch and believe me I’ve tried everything on every video. They are smart and pretty much will only eat live bait.
