    We've been looking for a 125-150cc bike for me recently. I've wanted a motorcycle since the day I learned about them. I grew up with my family owning bikes and I finally am getting close to getting my own. Yesterday I sat on 2 dirt bikes and an R3. It was such amazing feeling sitting and lifting those bikes off the kickstand. I can't wait to get my license now, for the first time I felt like I was "home" in a way. Such an odd, but amazing feeling

    • @ThisLifeRiding
      @ThisLifeRiding  8 лет назад

      I know that feeling well. At this point in my life, riding is the closest sense of home I have.

    Im about to buy a 2016 ninja 300 krt from a friend of mine for 3 grand. 550 miles on it cause he just doesnt ride, And tbh, The few videos ive watched from your channel have really solidified my want and love for the 300. It looks so sleek and gorgeous and sounds awesome. I come from a harley family, But they never really clicked. This bike... yes

    great video you have almost the same thoughts that i have. i want a 2015 ninja 300 green but im getting pressured to get a bigger bike i dont need a bigger bike.like you said its fun to ride a slow bike fast thats what i like about smaller bikes. i had a ninja 250 and that was a blast to ride before it broke down😢 i was very happy with that. maybe in the future i will get a bigger bike but for now ill stick with the smaller bikes also more people get pulled over/lose their licenses on bigger bikes than they do on smaller bikes. keep it up you're doing great mate.

    I got a 2015 ninja 300 last month too for a steal only 3000 miles on it under 1600 $. The way it rides I am totally impressed. The other bike I have is gsxr.

    Just got me a special edition 2014 low miles, LOOOOVVVVE IT....and Ive been riding Kawis for 37 yrs. I used to be a sponsored by Kawi Team Green rider in MotoX for yrs, Ive had a Ninja ZX6, and a few 250's, and this thing sucks to the ground, looks great, comfy, agile,light, torque'ee for a 300, and just BLOWS my 250's I just had out of the water in every way. I had a couple of the older ones, a 2003 and 2004, and the geometry, suspension,engine, overall design compared to a bike designed in 1985 and not changed for like 21 yrs, just almost not even in the same ballpark IMO.

    As always, great vlog discussion.
    Though I currently don't ride (hoping to get a bike next year) I do share you enthusiasm for a small bike. My very first motorcycle was a 1982 Honda 750 Nighthawk which, in hindsight, was an OK 1st bike for me to learn on...but learn on it I did. I'm an average sized adult (I think) at roughly 5'11" and 190 lbs, but my biggest issues with my old Nighthawk was its weight; I think it was roughly 500 lbs or so wet. Granted that bike wasn't a Goldwing, but for me it was still a chore to back peddle into or out of a parking spot and I was never comfortable with slow speed maneuvers or u-turns. My second and most recent bike was a Suzuki Savage 650, which probably would have made a really great 1st bike. It had a low seat height and a low wet weight at 380 lbs. The Savage didn't have much gusto over 65mph, but with all the torque of that big single I could, and did, carve up in-town and back road riding. My biggest issue with the Suzuki Savage though was the front suspension which would dive like Greg Louganis, lol.
    As I mentioned, I'm hoping to get back in the saddle again next year. Your vlogs really have me considering the Ninja 300. I've also looked at the Yamaha R3 which is very similar to the Kawi.. But I will admit I really like the feel and ergonomics of the Honda CBR500R (but that big ugly muffler, ugh!), which I think would be a good happy medium between my old Nighthawk and the highway-asthmatic Savage.
    Keep it wheels down!

    • @ThisLifeRiding
      @ThisLifeRiding  8 лет назад

      Nice man. I have not had the opportunity to ride the CBR 500 but I have ridden other bikes with the same 500 engine. I am a big fan. It would be a great bike if you are looking to get back into motorcycle after a decent absence.

  • @paulmarzec7577

    Hey TLR, I am really torn between the the ninja 300 and the yamaha r3. Have you had a chance to ride the r3 by any chance? If so I would like to know your thoughts, thanks...love your channel!!!

    • @ThisLifeRiding
      @ThisLifeRiding  8 лет назад +1

      Thanks man. The bikes are so similar that it comes down to just a few things. First, the Ninja 300 has a slipper clutch, optional ABS and a larger fuel tank. The R3 is slightly more powerful. Really, in the end. It doesn't matter which of the two you go with. If you want more features, go with the Ninja 300. If you want more power hit up the R3. In the end, the power difference is minimal enough to let you pick the bike more by looks and styling and not misroute on much. Here is a video I did a while back about it. hopefully it will add some insight. ruclips.net/video/aMf5SlGfXOA/видео.html

    How often do u suggest chain maintenance, I've heard 300to 600 miles, I've heard before or after every ride I've heard all kinds opinions.. What are the facts

  • @HighLife710
    @HighLife710 7 лет назад

    Hey man, what difference does the shorty levers make? do you recommend them? Also, what are sprockets for? I checked the ones you got but can't find much information. Im a new rider on a 2017 ninja 300. Thank you man!!!

    • @ThisLifeRiding
      @ThisLifeRiding  7 лет назад

      The main reason I got the shorty levers was their adjustability. They can be set closer or further away from your hands. I am a smaller guy so the stock ones were a little to far from the bars. They also look better then stock and some fold in in the case of a drop so they won't break as easy. I do recommend them. The sprockets control the gear ratio. You have one on the rear when and another on the main drive train. The chain runs between these two sprockets. Don't worry about sprockets though. I personally think the stock gearing works the bet for the Ninja 300.

    • @HighLife710
      @HighLife710 7 лет назад

      Thanks brother. Ill get the shorty levels as well because I feel like they'll feel better for me. Thanks for taking the time to write back. Be safe out there.

      +ThisLifeRiding My step father agrees with my idea, thankfully i'm out on my own and have my own place, i do have just a car atm. But I really want to start riding and the 300 looks absolutely amazing and inexpensive at 7k with abs, I could pay that easy with the return. Looking brand new, don't trust owners for the first bike, you know?

    • @ThisLifeRiding
      @ThisLifeRiding  8 лет назад

      Yeah, I hear you. It is more expensive, but I prefer to buy new.

  • @Sour_

    Hey, Im trying to get my first bike so what do you think is better, the R3 or the Ninja 300?

    • @ThisLifeRiding
      @ThisLifeRiding  7 лет назад

      +Anthrax Potato
      Hmm, that's a tough one. The ninja 300 has more amenities like a slipper clutch, ABS and all. The R3 has a peppier engine and slightly more relaxed ergonomics. In the end, the two bikes are so similar that you really can't got wrong with either. Personally, I prefer the ninja 300 but I haven't yet ridden the r3 so I can't give a truly informed opinion either way. Hope that helps man.

    Would you give me an advice? I am considering used Ninja 300 white or new Honda grom white. I like a white bike.
    I am going to ride this bike for a commute to school and city-dwelling purpose, which means grom is more suitable for me, but the appearance of Ninja 300 is so attractive. If you give me an advice, I appreciate it since you experienced both. Thanks.

      If you won't need to use the freeway, I would say Grom. I always tell people to start on the smallest bike they can. They usually learn faster, have more fun, and the consequences of messing up aren't quite as great.
