I told a co-worker the other day I was thinking about getting a Ninja 300. He said "that's a females bike". I said well ill let you know if your girl likes it. He didnt think that was as funny as I did.
Taking the MSF course in a little over a month from now. I plan on getting a Ninja 300 as my first bike. I don't care about trying to keep up with bigger bikes because none of my friends ride anyway. I'll upgrade whenever I feel the need to.
ThisLifeRiding I really hope I pass. I've only been on a motorcycle once. Safe to say that ride lasted about 30 seconds. Laid down a 600cc. I've probably watched over 200 hours of motovlogs, but I can count on one hand the number of times I've even physically touched a motorcycle. Definitely nervous
I have just passed my bike test and been having trouble deciding what bike to get, but with this great review i am now sold on the Ninja 300 so thank you sir! Subbed!!
New 2015 Ninja 300 SE with 36000 on her. Feels great. 1000cc would never use even half of the power. 650cc felt like a bit to much bike for the city. 300 cc just right. This 300 is my main ride, so with fuel costs, insurance and maintenance costs, I feel this is the sweet spot. Happy riding! 🏍
I'm 6' and it's still comfortable. This is my 3rd year with mine and still no regrets. The only downside is that other riders have their own assumptions about the small engine, but if you let them take it for a spin, they have nothing to say. Exhaust upgrade is a must even if it's just a slip-on. I recommend yoshimura. Got mine after the first year, wish I would have picked it up sooner.
Great honest review. I've got a 2016 ninja 300 ABS KRT edition and love it. 7500 miles on her, daily the bike. This thing handles great. Previously had an 05 ninja ex250, put 20k on that trusty little thing. Only downside was cold winter starts and freeway riding.
I think a big part of his experience with the bike is his size. Height and weight are huge factors. I’m 6’1” 200lbs. Surely we are going to have different experiences.
I'm 6 foot and weight 159lbs and am able to boost around on a 150cc bike. It's a ton of fun. It can't handle the highway though. You should be right on a 300. No?
The day you got the 300 is the same day as my b-day. Iam planning to get one asap. I am 13 and have fallen in love with the bike as well. I have driven it once. Thank you for sealing the deal.
Sh9683 that is the most ignorant thing I've heard. I've been riding for 20 years ABS has saved my life on a few occasions. Why would you want to lock up your brakes front or back.
@@sh9683 Sure, you can learn to emergency brake without ABS. Unlike a car, however, you can't "pump" the brakes to swerve and brake manually. If you lock the front tire, you go down. All this means is that in an emergency situation, if you don't have ABS, you can't brake as hard as the one who does. So you might hit stuff. Have fun.
Awesome! I ride a 2014 ninja 300 se and the back tire is the only issue for me. The brakes are fine for what I do and the slipper clutch really works. I've owned it for 3 months and have put 1.5k miles on it so far. I rode an R6 and unless I'm going illegal speeds the ninja 300 is still comparably fun.
Bought my Ninja 300 in July of 2013, June of 2022, I still love it. Small bikes are fun!! Who cares what people think, ride what you like! Woodcraft clip ons best mod I’ve done, gave it a more sporty feel and seating position.
What do you mean worth?? I have four street bikes…..but I’m sort of an addict when it comes to motor vehicles. Bikes are fun, relaxing, therapeutic, addicting and expensive. Don’t forget dangerous. They are not as forgiving as cars with regards to mistakes. They are cheap on gas, expensive on tires and maintenance, (unless you do your own work) I guess I would have to ask, what do you want out of it??
I use to go to the school next to Rotary park a few years back. I remember going to the bridge at the back side and trying to get drivers to honk their horns. Great video, and thanks for bringing back some great memories.
I just purchased a 2014 Ninja 300 a few days ago, downgraded from a Ninja 636 so its a transition but I am loving the bike. I am in AZ also, awesome to see familiar places in your videos. One question would be do you feel you ever have to crouch forward on the freeway? I was on the I-10 earlier and felt like I was getting thrown around (my person not bike) ALOT more than I did on the 636. I tried leaning forward a little but it felt awkward. Do you ever end up crouching into it?
I've been back and forth on whether I'm purchasing a r3 ninja 300 or the cbr 300 and your video gave me enough of an edge towards the ninja that I'm purchasing it next week! Nice review! Looking forward to it!
+Vinny Fowler Cool man. You are going to love it. A year and a half of ownership and a dozen or so test rides later and it is still my favorite bike. Let us know how it goes.
Ok so here is my take on the ninja 300. I have 3 bikes as a new rider in about one year. Believe it or not. And you will definitely not believe what I will say now but here it is. The ninja 300 is more fun, rides better and is a better all round bike then my other two bikes. 1. 2007 suzuki gs 500 2. Cbr 650 r Why? The gs is a unbelievable bike but lack flikable, refinement and smooth engine, transmission. The new cbr, it is very committed riding position and is down right Scary. I ride sensibly and cbr is made to go fast not slow thus it feels as it struggles when I ride at posted speeds or less. So the ninja feels home no matter what way it is used. When I ride the ninja 300, there is always a smile on my face.
I started on a 250, rode it hard for a few weeks and got a 660. It's not a super sport but the extra power is greatly appreciated. A 300 is a great Bike all around, they're quite agile in corners, a little more power from the line and out of corners would be nice but that's probably about it.
Really enjoyed your video. One thing I enjoy about listening to you is how well your are able to articulate your position on a subject or when you are just describing an experience. Keep up the good work, stay safe.
+ThisLifeRiding I must say, you articulate everything in a very professional matter. ...I'm purchasing a 300 as my first bike in a couple days and was just looking up reviews. Very glad I stumbled upon your review as you are the ninja 300 godfather! Not too many out there have over 10k miles, so you're one of the most experienced on the bike I'd say. Thanks for the review!
Took me over an hour to get all the decals off mine. I say the same thing, wth are the signal indicators smoked? They didn't smoke the neutral. I've never even noticed the slipper clutch, i've locked the rear coming in hot to corners just from the downshift alone. It's smooth as glass and the lever pull is so light you can use 1 finger. I love mine. Good review
i own a 2015 Kawasaki ninja 300 and it's a very good bike i would recommend this motorcycle to anyone starting off the only thing i don't like is when i have to keep up with my friends who own bigger bikes I've never had 1 problem with it, i would want to upgrade though only because when i pass people it's passing them slowly depending on the situation. Great video btw
I've had mine for 3 months, glad to hear you're loving it! I like it, but I got mine in green so I kind of regret it, I like how the zx-6r looks in matte black. But the bike is fine!
Yeah, I really like the white. I like Kawasaki and all but I don't understand green bikes. I might have gotten black except I'm in Arizona and blacks get flaming hot in a big hurry out here. Have you considered just buying a new fairing kit for it. Get something that contrasts well with the green tank or get the tank repainted whatever color you like.
Should I buy new or used? New (2016-2018) I could buy at 3k which is exactly my budget, I’ll be the only owner, good insurance, but I’ll only own it probably only a little less than a year.. (budget is around $3000-$3600) but I’ve had my eye on the 650r, yet I can only find a good amount of them (used) for about $3500-$4000. But with the 650r I would keep that a very long time until I’m able to afford my Harley Iron 883.. I’d have that extra power, I’d be able to grow into it, the power on the 650r is a bit subtle.. (have had very minor experience with my uncle’s R6, parking lot stuff) will be on the freeway a good amount, will be using for frequent trips every 3 ish months, Vegas to LA/San Diego 2-4 hour long rides.. main transportation, mainly will be commuting. Thanks in advance 😘
Excellent job. this review is blowing up. I love the smaller bikes as well. comfort is so important. I've sold bikes that I liked on the comfort factor alone.
+Ride AMAP (As Much As Possible) That makes sense. I loved my Honda shadow but the physical weight of it made city riding unenjoyable. If it were not for that, I would still be happily riding it today.
just picked up a 2014 300 SE ABS loving it so far i watched a lot of your videos and then decided to get one and im happy so far. also in Arizona BTW keep up the great videos!!
Just bought my first bike around 6 days ago, took my msf course right after to learn how to properly ride. First day on it was a little rougher, back tire slid on me once and it almost went bad but I recovered it, but other than the lower traction because of how light the bike is, it’s everything I’ve ever dreamed. I’m a little tall for it as I’m around 6’4 and I still have a decent amount of knee bend when my feet are on the ground, but it hasn’t made it particularly unfomfortable.
+Expose The Beast I know a few guys over 6 foot that like this bike. I don't think you would feel any more unforgettable on this bike then any other bike. If you need a little more leg room, you could always get extended rearsets. See if you can find a dealer who will let you test ride. If not, sit on it for a little while with you legs up and see if its comfortable for you. Thanks for the great question man.
ThisLifeRiding question...i am beginner rider, never have ever riden before except bicycle lol, so now i am not sure whihc bike to get, i don't want anything superfast, just something normal to learn on and get the feel...is 300 category perfect to begin and to be forgiving? plus i am 6'4 and i really do like sport bikes, not in nakeds or any other class :)
I just got a used one, and to me the tires don't seem too worn out but I feel like its slips a bit too easily. Im going to get new tires and see if that's the problem. How's the handling for you?
Just a question about the Ninja 300. I am roughly 180cm tall. so 5"11? 6"0? roughly.. would I be comfortable on it? easy to touch the ground etc! Thanks man!
+NiiBz Oh yeah. I know quite a few guys now who are over six foot and they find the Ninja 300 perfectly comfortable. I am 5"8' and I can flat foot it no problem. Absolute worst case, you can get some extended rear sets but I highly doubt that will be necessary. I would certainly suggest you find a local dealer and sit on it for yourself. That is the only way to really know if it will fit you. Thanks for the great question. Let me know if you have any others.
I'm glad you like it. I've had mine 7 months and have nearly 6k on it; there'd be more but winter snow and ice cost me a good few days commuting and I had to use the family car. I have the ABS version, and I have to say it's not much of an improvement in braking. They're still very soft. It's the only part of the bike I think isn't very good. I'm a pretty tall rider (6'3") and find it fairly comfortable, it does pinch the legs a little but I've tried a few standard bikes and they're all a bit tight on my legs, it can't really be helped. Did you valves need any adjustment at 7.5k? I'm biting my lip about that as it's will probably be a fairly pricey service even to check them.
+Sullybiker Valves very rarely get out of alignment within the first 7.5k. You could probably go twice that without checking them. I would still suggest you follow the user manual though. Its always better to play it safe then sorry when it comes to maintenance. Have you ever thought about getting some extended rear sets to give you a little more leg room?
ThisLifeRiding That's what I'd thought - it's not particularly high but I guess the service estimate is pretty conservative. I might look into changing my rearsets, but they're not bad - it's not quite uncomfortable, and the way the geometry works out my knees aren't particularly high, a problem I had on the CBR300R (surprised me, it looks similar in height).
+Sullybiker Cool. It's good to hear from someone that knows. I get the same question all the time. "I am 6 foot whatever, is this bike too small for me?" It's cool to finally hear from someone with actual experience. Thanks for the input man.
I keep hearing this in other videos "What we do is go back" *queue music* Are you using the same video editing program as other youtubers or is this a youtube standard feature?
Yeah, I think it is a good commuter. Let me say that a 2 hour freeway trip on any motorcycle can be a bit strenuous. On just about any bike, I always suggest getting off every 45 min to an hour and take a break. Having said that, with ann upgraded seat, touring windshield and grip expanders, you could make the Ninja 300 fairly comfortably. I have done a few multi-hour stints before and they are not that bad. To be a little more realistic though, if you are going to be doing that much freeway riding on a daily basis, you might do better with a cruiser or an adventure/touring bike instead. Maybe the Honda CB500X or a KLR650 or the Ninja 650 (to name a few budget options). Don't get me wrong, you could make the Ninja 300 into an awesome touring machine and it could preform the job great, but there are other bikes that are better suited to that kind of work. Great question man. Let me know if you have any more.
Just got a 2014 ninja 300SE about 5 weeks ago and I love it..just need to get my downshifting down, but I'm a new rider and I'm glad I got this bike vs a 600cc..I do plan to upgrade one day but for now im satisfied
Good idea. My first bike was a Honda shadow 1100 cruiser. It was way to big and way to powerful for a beginner bike. Once I switched to the smaller Ninja 300, I started to learn much faster. I think I learned more in just a few month on a small bike what it took me a year to learn on the cruiser. Congratulations on the new bike man. Thanks for the comment.
Awesome review, I'm with you, smaller bikes are better! Let's be honest the average rider will never be able to ride to the full potential of the bigger bikes or most bikes for that matter! I think it's more about ego for some people. I really enjoyed this review!
+Hawk Girl (Misty Varner) I was watching C2W test ride Motonosity's bike the other day. C2W kept saying that his 600 already had way more power then he could ever use, why get the liter bike. I could see myself getting a 400 or maybe even a 500 hundred some day. Much past that, the extra weight overrides the benefits of extra power for daily riding. Plus, eventually more power becomes to much power. Thanks for watching. You rock.
+Hawk Girl (Misty Varner) that's weird. my ninja 300 has given me a HUGE ego boost every time i SMOKE a guy on a 600cc through the twisties. lol its like "awww are you unworthy of the bike you're on??" but i also have a bandit 1200 so its always nice to know i can do over 160 in a hurry if i ever desire to do so :)
Hey TLR! What do you think about financing a new ninja 300 or 650? I don't just have $4000-$7,000 just laying around waiting to be spent. I'm thinking about financing one at one of the local Kawasaki dealers here.
I plan on getting a ninja 650 or 400I’m 6 foot 275 pounds. I live in the mountains and most riding is highway or thruway. I want to get one with a slipper clutch and abs. It’ll be my first big boy bike. I have a juiced ebike with some mods that allow me to go 35 mph. It’s a heavy bike so I’ve gotten really good at counter steering and counter balancing around corners. I also have a lot of experience driving with traffic, even on my ebike I have to drive like everyone’s trying to kill me.
Subscribed ! Love your channel man ! I might be getting a Z300 for weekend riding purposes in spring next year. First bike, first driving license etc. I`m terrified it`ll kill me tbh, but being so paranoid and conservative with speed, hopefully will keep me alive, moderately fast and having fun.
What RPM is the engine doing in top gear at 60 mph? I'm looking for a bike that can cruise comfortably at that speed without the engine sounding "bothered" about it.
I changed my final drive to 16/39 on my 15' model and it's absolutely perfect for me. The stock gears were way to close and low. 7k rpm is now 75 mph. Nice review , I came across your vid looking for touring wind screens . I'm 6'2" and put down 638 miles last ride and bought a Saddleman seat first chance lol it love this little machine too !
+randy duke Thanks for the input on gearing. There always new things to try on that front. I like the Zero Gravity touring windshield. It keeps most of the buffeting off the body. The air stream hits me on the forehead. I am 5'8" so it will probably hit you on the chin. Thanks for watching and the comment.
do you think tall guys around 6´2 can also fit on the ninja 300? sure, 5´7 - 5´9 would be more ideal, but I need a simple starter bike which I can afford. it is ok if a big guy looks a bit weird on this kind of "smaller" bike, I just want to make sure it aint too ridiculous. what is your opinion on that? thx!
Very helpful review! Confirmed pretty much all of my research. Question for you: Do you think ABS would help your confidence in the brakes? There's a lot of debate on ABS on smaller bikes.
+Nick McClure I think that ABS would completely remove all of my concerns over braking. The problem is not that the brakes can't lock up the wheels, its that they lock up to easily. I think that ABS would remove that problem. I would highly recommend getting the Ninja 300 with ABS.
I drive my 250 on the freeway all the time and I can easily keep up with traffic and I don't get blown around.im like 6'1in and I weigh180 and I can still overtake cars and semi fairly easy. but I will get a bigger bike but I still enjoy my 250
my ninja 300 mhas recently started whining a few days after changing the oil and coolant, i never noticed it until now and now im hearing it in everyones 300 is this really normal???
Looking to get one as my first bike. But, i'm on the highway 5 days a week going to/from work (20 minutes each way going 80mph). Would this bike be a good choice?
Thanks. I think I'll stick to the 300 then. I usually go up to 110mph in my car if I'm running late (and I love taking tight corners) and I have a history of speeding tickets. I feel that if i get a more powerful bike it would be bad news for me.
Nice review. Appreciate the expressway shot of the vid. Twin vs. single cyl. etc. Any comment's on the Yamaha R3? Ashame Yamaha didnt offer ABS with that bike or I would be tempted. My first sled was a Benelli 125. lol
Awe, nice man. I wish my first bike was a 125 but the area I live in just isn't built for anything that can't go on the freeway. I actually have a video about my thoughts on the four major 300cc competitors. ruclips.net/video/aMf5SlGfXOA/видео.html Thanks man.
+Syrold Dizon I bought it a Go AZ Motorcycles. I started at Kelly's but Go AZ had the better deal and considerably better customer service. Plus, When I go in for a service, they let me borrow a bike for the day. That's how I can do my normal First Ride and Review videos. The OTD was just under 5 grand with a $1500 trade in for my Honda Shadow. I probably could have gotten a better price for it but I didn't know how to haggle back then.
I'm in Mesa and I'm thinking about getting a bike. I'm concerned about the extreme heat out here tho. Don't you get drenched in sweat anytime you have to ride somewhere during the summer? Do you just not wear the jacket? It's pretty much my only concern. How do you deal with the heat out here?
+lordshampoo This is a great question. For starters, unless I am just poking around my own neighborhood, I always wear gear. As far as the heat goes, there are a few things you can do. Cycle gear has heat out gear but I have never used it before. You can also wear extra clothes, soak them in water, and the evaporation will cool you as you ride. In all truth, I just bear it. In the summer I drink A LOT of water. I have never had any problems with overheating as long as I drink enough water. I will let you know, It is pretty hot. I find that as along as I resign myself to the fact that it will be hot and take care of my body, summer riding can be just as awesome as any other time of the year. Plus, the high country is always in the 70s so summer is prime time for trips to Parson, Flagstaff, and Jerome. That is always a ton of fun and a great experience on the Ninja 300.
+ThisLifeRiding Thanks for replying. I've decided I'm gonna get a ninja 300 in a couple months. I'll probably be driving it to work (30 miles each way) so that's why I asked. 30 miles in 110 degree heat has me kind of worried I'll show up to work looking like I just got out of the shower lol. I also plan on taking a motorcycle course before getting one cause I haven't even ridden a bicycle in 15 or so years.. Any courses you recommend out here?
+lordshampoo Oh yeah. Do Team Arizona, the gilbert location, and take their beginners rider course. Its two days, fairly well priced, and you get your motorcycle license endorsement at the end without having to take the test at the dmv. You don't even have to have your own bike, they lend you one. It is one hundred percent worth it, believe me. I took it and I am so happy I did. You won't regret it. A friend of mine is getting their license soon and I'm taking the course with them for fun. Maybe I'll see you there.
I'm a bit taller at 6 foot 2. Is this bike going to be too small? I liked it because I've never ridden except for on the back of my dad's old motorcycle.
Have over 8k miles on my 300 and not planning on upgrading anytime soon. On the highway it has no trouble accelerating to 80 mp/h, and can crawl to slightly over 100 if you're not going up the hill. But where it really shines is twisty mountain roads, I had no trouble keeping up with ducati 848 and cbr 1000.
Yep, that sounds about right. I am getting ready to pay my bike off here pretty quick, after a year and a half and 21k miles. The dealer asked me yesterday if I was ready to upgrade. He seemed confused my the utter look of shock on my face. I had to explain that I wasn't getting rid of it any time soon. I might get a second bike someday, like a dual sport or something, but the Ninja is not going anywhere. Thanks for the great comment.
I had same body and tank color as you. At first I liked it. Over time, I felt it was ugly. Even people said so lol. Now my 400...now that's beautiful!!
@ThisLifeRiding, what's it like for power, looking to buy one. I have a fast car, and ride a 250f Yamaha dirt bike.. I hope this thin is faster than one lol. What's your thoughts on acceleration and speed?
+Michael Kenney Well, to start out, it is no R1. But having said that, it has everything I need. I have plenty enough passing power on the freeway and it is a blast to rev the snot out of leaving a stop light. This bike feels leaps and bounds above a 250 but will feel mild mannered next to any of the GP stile bikes like the 600 class and what not. Here is a video that might help a little. ruclips.net/video/zytfaHmuhLI/видео.html Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.
+ThisLifeRiding awesome man. I'm picking up the exact same bike tonight. Mines a 14 ninja 300 in white. Stoked ha. Just worried I'm not gonna be happy with the power.. I own a Subaru and passing people is so fun. Love speed. How easy is it to pass people on the freeway? If u wanted could u drop a gear and fly by no problem?
This is not a slow bike in the slightest but it is not a super fast bike either. If you are getting this bike wanting gobs of power, you might be disappointed. Maybe you might consider the ktm 390 rc? It is the most race oriented out of the beginner bike circuit and may be better suited towards your love for speed. I still think the Ninja 300 is the best commuter/well rounded bike out of the 300 class right now but it is no speed demon. To answer your question, yes. You can drop a gear or two pretty easy and fly by people on the freeway. Um, here is a video I did as a summary of the 300 shoot out as it stands. Maybe that will help. ruclips.net/video/aMf5SlGfXOA/видео.html I hope that helps.
Hey, thinking about starting to ride. I live in Flagstaff, and go to the valley once a month. Will this handle the mountains well enough? You talked about going to payson but didnt hear your speed.
+Tristen Hogue Yeah. The Ninja 300 will do fine. It gets 60mpg. The only time I ever struggled in the mountains was when I was trying to keep up with a 600 that was doing 90mph uphill. I had different gearing then that removed a lot of torque, but I think in stock form, the Ninja 300 would perform just fine. If I get a chance, I'll do a run up to Payson and back here in the next week or two and let you know how it goes.
+Tristen Hogue Hey man. I finally had a chance to run up to Payson and see how the bike does in the mountains. Here is my response video to your question. ruclips.net/video/a6eEqIrhT14/видео.html
I'm 6'1 and am looking to get a motorcycle next spring. I have no experience riding but I think I could pick it up real quick. Would you recommend this bike?
Hey bro. Maybe some advise on a bike for me? I've been thinking about getting one and practicing until I take my exam next year, and I'm 14 years old, 6'2 and 185 pounds. Is this a good bike for me? Or are there other bikes you would recommend?
I don't know the legality of your age and riding in your area, but yeah, I think this bike would fit you just fine. It is a good starter bike. In all truth, with being as young as you are, you might enjoy something you can take off road as well or something you don't have to be quite so careful with like a DR-Z400 something. Hope that helps man.
+ThisLifeRiding thanks so much for the quick response. and my home has plenty of land and near by me is an abandoned parking lot so plenty of places to practice :)
Oh yeah dude. If I were you, I would get something that can go off road like a dual sport or Grom or something that lets you take full advantage of the land. NO reason to stick just to the streets when there is so much more available to you.
I use my neighbours Honda grom almost every day haha. Since they got it I've been going over with my best friend. So I have some riding experience under my belt off road
im pretty late but i have a 2015 Ninja 300 (green) i am the 1 and only owner owner and i am at 26 thousand miles and some change i have enjoyed it for the most part : )
@@mannybrar7501 5 years later haha, I personally upgraded to a 2015 Yamaha FZ-07 gray/blurple. My brother has a a 2018 ninja 650 in the burnt candy orange color. Both are great options, both are comfortable affordable and reliable, if I were to do it again I would still pick my FZ but I could be bias!
Really liked your video I sold my CBR600RR this summer after being paralyzed from a motocross accident. I now have a Harley Davidson 883 and just sold my Ducati 748 really intrigued by the ninja 300. I mean yeah it's fun to go 0-60 in 3 seconds on a super sport but I really just love to cruise do some wheelies and have a good time doing my passion. Thinking highly of purchasing one these this summer also something my dad would enjoy my father isn't into the inline 4 motors. Reply to this comment I live off the 101 and cactus and usually ride alone always looking for people to ride with. Beautiful bike very professional video! - Wyatt
+ArizonaDesertRat426x Hey dude. Thats pretty cool. Sorry to hear about you accident. I like the Ninja 300 quite a bit. It is a blast to just mess around on and not have to worry about getting in trouble. I think your father might like it as well. The Ninja 300 can do wheelies but it is not the best. You might also consider a DR-Z400 or another supermoto or dual sport. They have a much easier time with the wheelies. Either way, the Ninja 300 is a great bike. Thanks for watching.
I have the Ninja's rejected sister, the z300, which is the exact same but naked, and I agree with everything you said ! I still want to try bigger bikes just to see for myself, but I'm afraid it won't be as good as my trusty 300... I'm 5ft8 and it fits great, not too small, not too big, it's very agile and can handle freeway as well as mountain roads like a boss (I live in the french Alps), the only downside is the breaking system, a bit too weak for sure.
I love seeing other riders in Arizona. I'm in Phoenix. I used to have a 2015 ninja 300. I liked it, but it just didn't have enough power for me personally but everyone is different. I ended up giving it to my best friend and he's been riding it for the last year and he loves it. I have a 2007 Yamaha R6 and I couldn't be happier. we should all go riding sometime. maybe set up a group ride. :)
+carcrazynik That's awesome man. I would love to do a group ride some time but life is pretty busy with work and school right now. I will have to plan something when time frees up.
Hey man I'm exactly 6' feet tall you think this is too big for me and quick question did you pay for the bike upfront? I'm trying to get one and I have been reading and I'm gonna go with the ninja 300
I financed mine and payed it off in about a year and a half. I think its better to wait and pay for things in cash but I wasn't as patient back then. At six feet this bike should fit you just fine. The Ninja 300 is a great bike.
Yeah, it was just under five grand with dealer fees after a 1500 trade in. And no, you will not be too tall. I would go and sit on it to make sure though. I know a guy who is 6'8" and thoroughly enjoys it.
Hey I'm 17 and plan on saving up for a bike. I've never rode a bike so I'm the definition of a beginner. I was really thinking about getting 300 but I would really prefer something more powerful like a zx6r or cbr600rr. But because of my lack of any experience whatsoever I don't know if it would be a good idea starting out at 600cc. I'm 6'2" 190 lbs and don't think I'd fit too well on a 300. And if I do get a 300 I plan on upgrading in the future but I would prefer not to have to spend so much money doing that. My friend said with my size I should be able to start out on 600 and that is just need to practice slowly getting used to the clutch. What's your input on what I should do?
+noahlw18 After typing out a small book in response to your question, I realized it would be better to just make you a video response. I'll make a video later this week to answer this question for you. Stay tuned. And thanks for the great question.
Just would like to know , is the ninja 300 more safe than bigger bikes? My parents are freaking out about how dangerous sport bikes are ! I have driven fast cars but I never drove them crazy , so I think I'm more of a calm responsible driver , and one more question, what is it more safe city or highway riding ? Im going to appreciate you input!
+Khaled Khelewy Well, I was getting ready to right you a book but I think it will be easier to just make a video to answer this one. I'll put it out here some time in the next little while. Thanks for the great questions man.
+Khaled Khelewy Just giving ya a second opinion. Apologies in advance for my novel response. I owned one for about a year and this bike is really great. The summer I rode it was one of the most fun summers I had. It is definitely a great beginner bike. It's really forgiving to mistakes you make. You can mess up and not end up on the ground, where in other bikes (def bigger bikes) you'll end up on the ground. I have to agree with ThisLifeRiding in that the brakes on the bike can be scary. He was pretty spot on. The brakes are weak but at the same time lock up easier than they should. I'd recommend ABS if you're gonna get this bike. You shouldn't get too afraid though, it still handles really great. But don't ride in the rain if you don't get ABS. Honestly, I think one of the main culprits is the not great tires. ThisLifeRiding didn't like his sprocket upgrade but I personally got the bigger sprockets on my ninja 300 and I really liked them. It lets you ride in the lower gears for longer and just makes the bike even more beginner friendly. Speaking of gears, the bike is amazing! You can pretty much be in any gear at relatively slow speeds and not stall the bike. Also after a bit of riding you can easily take off from a stop in higher gears. I crashed my bike once and bent the gear shifter, so I had to take off in like 3rd or 4th gear for a while. It burnt my clutch a bit for sure, but it was do-able. You didn't say if you've driven manual cars or not but manual cars are definitely harder than bikes, so if you know how to drive manual cars it'll be a piece of cake changing gears on the bike. As for power, I found it adequate. Overall I wouldn't say it's under powered. It's certainly enough for city driving. But I usually drove it on highways and at times it felt a bit weak, especially when you want to pass other cars. To answer one of your questions, I think highway driving is safer. Just because there's a lot less people switching lanes or coming to stops or making turns. The final thing I have to say is that if you choose to get the ninja 300, I think you'll definitely really like it. And I certainly recommend it. That said however, when I bought my ninja 300 there weren't many other competitors to it. Today there are lots of alternatives. I'd shop around. Honda has a 300cc bike too, and it has much better tires. Honda also has a 500cc bike. Neither were available when I bought my ninja, I'd get the 500 over the 300. There are lots of other new bikes from other manufactures that are around that range too, 300-500cc.
I told a co-worker the other day I was thinking about getting a Ninja 300. He said "that's a females bike". I said well ill let you know if your girl likes it. He didnt think that was as funny as I did.
That's cuz you burned him. lol
Lmao that man has insecurity issues.
Nice wind shield 🛡
Glad he repaired the right side lol
Did she like it ?? Haha
Taking the MSF course in a little over a month from now. I plan on getting a Ninja 300 as my first bike. I don't care about trying to keep up with bigger bikes because none of my friends ride anyway. I'll upgrade whenever I feel the need to.
+KingN8Boogie
Nice dude.
+KingN8Boogie
I'm sure you'll do fine.
ThisLifeRiding thanks bro! I'm subscribing to your channel. I enjoy your vids
How did your MSF course go my dude? Pass? Was it easy?
Wish this guy was still making videos really enjoyed all his content
I have just passed my bike test and been having trouble deciding what bike to get, but with this great review i am now sold on the Ninja 300 so thank you sir! Subbed!!
+youtubefan21 youtubefan21
That's awesome man. Congrats and welcome to the family!
Thanks man
Check out the KTM RC390 before you buy the Ninja(just to be sure)
Kayla Losch Check out all the 300ccish bikes, even though they're all similar
+LobnBullets
Awesome man. Thanks for the great comment. Very helpful.
You had me at 2:40, Subbed instantly. I just got the ninja 300 yesterday as my 3rd bike and it is just the best.
Dude, thats awesome! Congratulations and welcome to the family.
I think a big part of his experience with the bike is his size. Height and weight are huge factors. I’m 6’1” 200lbs. Surely we are going to have different experiences.
No not really im 6" 225 and i ride a ninja 300 keep up just fine and top out at 110-115
I'm 6 foot and weight 159lbs and am able to boost around on a 150cc bike. It's a ton of fun. It can't handle the highway though. You should be right on a 300. No?
The day you got the 300 is the same day as my b-day. Iam planning to get one asap. I am 13 and have fallen in love with the bike as well. I have driven it once. Thank you for sealing the deal.
Right on!
December 6 is my b day too. I noticed he said that. Anyhow safe riding!
> Complains about brakes locking up
> has the version without ABS
.......
Matt good riders car drivers don’t need abs. I hate abs
Have fun.
@@sh9683 That is such an asinine statement. ABS saves lives. Experienced or beginner. Cars have had it a long time, motorcycles should to.
@@sh9683 Sure, on a racetrack that is. Not having ABS on public roads is stupid.
Cool man. Gotta love the Ninja 300.
Bought my Ninja 300 in July of 2013, June of 2022, I still love it. Small bikes are fun!! Who cares what people think, ride what you like! Woodcraft clip ons best mod I’ve done, gave it a more sporty feel and seating position.
Is it worth getting into motorcycles? I cant decide but it's always been a thought of mine
Haha, awesome man. Glad I could.
Didn't know linustechtips rode motorcycles, Would have never suspected it.
Haha, sorry dude. No earrings.
lol, just messin man.
+Flaccid Pancakes
Haha, it's cool.
Kyle Naquin he does ride a bike!
Gotta put some rgb lighting on that beauty
I went from a 2012 Ninja 250 (had it a couple years) to a 15' CBR 650F. Best upgrade ever. Nice review.
Nice man. Thanks.
I've been back and forth on whether I'm purchasing a r3 ninja 300 or the cbr 300 and your video gave me enough of an edge towards the ninja that I'm purchasing it next week! Nice review! Looking forward to it!
+Vinny Fowler
Cool man. You are going to love it. A year and a half of ownership and a dozen or so test rides later and it is still my favorite bike. Let us know how it goes.
After watching this video I'm considering buying a Ninja 300 in white also. Like the way you upgraded your bike. Good luck and ride safe.
had my 300 for 3 yrs now and don't see myself ridding anything else I'm a 300 fan as well, great review bro
Hey, thanks man. I am coming up on the end of year two here... OH, today actually. Looks like I will need to make a two year review video. Thanks man.
Ok so here is my take on the ninja 300. I have 3 bikes as a new rider in about one year. Believe it or not. And you will definitely not believe what I will say now but here it is. The ninja 300 is more fun, rides better and is a better all round bike then my other two bikes.
1. 2007 suzuki gs 500
2. Cbr 650 r
Why?
Hey, thanks of the input man. What was your 660?
Have had my ninja 300 for a few months and lm loving every second of it!!
Miss ur videos man!! Hope life's going good for you brother.
Really enjoyed your video. One thing I enjoy about listening to you is how well your are able to articulate your position on a subject or when you are just describing an experience. Keep up the good work, stay safe.
+Brad C
Thanks Brad. That means a lot to me. Glad to have you here with us.
Thanks man. Glad to hear you are excited for the bike. You will have to tell us how you like it when you get it. I crossed 20k a few days ago BTW.
+NotDeadYet2E
Nice.
Gotta love that content cop music👌👌
Haha, thanks.
Was wandering what it was from
I've had mine for 3 months, glad to hear you're loving it!
Bought a new 2017 300 w/ ABS Today! Picking it up next weekend, and cannot be more excited. Shopping for a helmet and jacket now.
+Ride AMAP (As Much As Possible)
That makes sense. I loved my Honda shadow but the physical weight of it made city riding unenjoyable. If it were not for that, I would still be happily riding it today.
I'm buying this in a couple of weeks. I'm stoked.
Finally! Someone that hasn’t said You’re gonna out grow it in a day!
just picked up a 2014 300 SE ABS loving it so far i watched a lot of your videos and then decided to get one and im happy so far. also in Arizona BTW keep up the great videos!!
+Bobby Robinson
Thanks man. Glad you are happy with the Ninja. It's a great bike.
Just got a ninja 300, super hyped now
Just bought my first bike around 6 days ago, took my msf course right after to learn how to properly ride.
First day on it was a little rougher, back tire slid on me once and it almost went bad but I recovered it, but other than the lower traction because of how light the bike is, it’s everything I’ve ever dreamed.
I’m a little tall for it as I’m around 6’4 and I still have a decent amount of knee bend when my feet are on the ground, but it hasn’t made it particularly unfomfortable.
i love my ninja 300
+Jason Parth
I know the feeling.
+Jason Parth I know the feeling, I love my 2015 model.
+ThisLifeRiding Is this too small for a 6ft 2inch 170 lb male? I'm thinking of getting one but I'm concerned it might be too small
+Expose The Beast
I know a few guys over 6 foot that like this bike.
I have 2013 model, and love it to bits. I am 5-3 and weigh 147 pounds. I have seen 3 figure speeds!
Thanks man!
+NiiBz
Oh yeah.
+Sullybiker
Valves very rarely get out of alignment within the first 7.5k.
+Sullybiker
Cool. It's good to hear from someone that knows. I get the same question all the time. "I am 6 foot whatever, is this bike too small for me?" It's cool to finally hear from someone with actual experience. Thanks for the input man.
I keep hearing this in other videos "What we do is go back" *queue music*
Are you using the same video editing program as other youtubers or is this a youtube standard feature?
+Lightning X
RUclips has a library of free music creators can use in their video. This is one of the more popular track by Otis McDonald.
ThisLifeRiding reminded me of idubzzz content cop
you recomend this bike for conmuting? for example 2 hours at 85mph on higthway.
thanks and sorry for the bad english.
I want this bike as a first bike but I'm not sure of it, you recomend it?
I’m late in this one, but very meaningful review. Thanks a million and ride safe. Be well.
Hey guys found a low mile 2014 white but my eyes always catched by krt fairings any fairing difference between 2014 and 2016 physically?
Nice review and thoughts on the Kawa 300. Own the 2014 300 SE in lime green. Great bike and I don't regret buying it.
+Timothy Duprez
No joke. I love this little bike. My goal is to hit 100k miles before I trade it in. We will have to see.
+Hawk Girl (Misty Varner)
I was watching C2W test ride Motonosity's bike the other day.
Plan on getting my license very soon and seriously considering one of these. Great review!
Cool man. Thats awesome.
Hey TLR! What do you think about financing a new ninja 300 or 650? I don't just have $4000-$7,000 just laying around waiting to be spent. I'm thinking about financing one at one of the local Kawasaki dealers here.
+KingN8Boogie
I personally think paying for everything in cash is a better life policy but if it works for you then do your thing.
i must say it was a well made review, great work.
Hey, thanks man. Glad you enjoyed it.
hi. im new to riding. but what tires do you prefer for my 300? because you know that tires are one of the most important thing/mod in a bike.
Nice man. I suggest motorcycle training and good solid gear. Those will fix most of your problems.
I will not cheap out on gear :D And will do training as well :D Thanks man, and love your vlogs !
Cool, thanks man.
What RPM is the engine doing in top gear at 60 mph?
I'm looking for a bike that can cruise comfortably at that speed without the engine sounding "bothered" about it.
Around 6.5 k rpm. If You change front sprocket , it will be even lower
@@SVwindsor okay. Thanks.
+randy duke
Thanks for the input on gearing. There always new things to try on that front. I like the Zero Gravity touring windshield. It keeps most of the buffeting off the body. The air stream hits me on the forehead. I am 5'8" so it will probably hit you on the chin. Thanks for watching and the comment.
+ThisLifeRiding I added that windscreen 👍 Also I have new oem chain and sprocket pull offs and a brand new 15t front. Hit me up if your interested 👍
Love my ninja 300, i took it on some curvy mountain roads and it handled so well, very easy to maneuver and make quick turns.
+Big Brand Records
Yep, it may not win a drag race but in the right hands it can often win at canyon carving.
yeah i agree 100% !
do you think tall guys around 6´2 can also fit on the ninja 300? sure, 5´7 - 5´9 would be more ideal, but I need a simple starter bike which I can afford. it is ok if a big guy looks a bit weird on this kind of "smaller" bike, I just want to make sure it aint too ridiculous. what is your opinion on that? thx!
I think you would probably be fine. I would suggest heading to a dealer and sitting on one. Best way to find out for yourself.
Very helpful review! Confirmed pretty much all of my research. Question for you: Do you think ABS would help your confidence in the brakes? There's a lot of debate on ABS on smaller bikes.
+Nick McClure
I think that ABS would completely remove all of my concerns over braking. The problem is not that the brakes can't lock up the wheels, its that they lock up to easily. I think that ABS would remove that problem. I would highly recommend getting the Ninja 300 with ABS.
Is it ok for someone 6’3 240 or is there a bigger bike out there for beginners? If this is small would I look silly?
I drive my 250 on the freeway all the time and I can easily keep up with traffic and I don't get blown around.im like 6'1in and I weigh180 and I can still overtake cars and semi fairly easy. but I will get a bigger bike but I still enjoy my 250
Cool man. Thanks for the input.
+ThisLifeRiding I'm 230 pounds can ninja 300 take me ?
David Zuniga I don't see why not. It does pretty well with a pillion.
Oh OK
The weight limit is like 390 on the ninja 300.
my ninja 300 mhas recently started whining a few days after changing the oil and coolant, i never noticed it until now and now im hearing it in everyones 300 is this really normal???
Looking to get one as my first bike. But, i'm on the highway 5 days a week going to/from work (20 minutes each way going 80mph). Would this bike be a good choice?
Haha, thats actually my daily commute. I probably spend an hour and a half to three hours on the highway a day. The bike handles it great.
Thanks. I think I'll stick to the 300 then. I usually go up to 110mph in my car if I'm running late (and I love taking tight corners) and I have a history of speeding tickets. I feel that if i get a more powerful bike it would be bad news for me.
+Patrick Matthews
Haha, good call. You'd lose your license in the first week on a 600.
After watching a few videos on this bike I think I've found the one, will definitely be picking one of these up when I'm done with college next year.
Nice man. Good choice.
ThisLifeRiding I'm getting mine next Friday, what go pro do you use ?
Hey i live in Mesa. Did you buy your bike from Kelly's? How much was your OTD?
+Syrold Dizon
I bought it a Go AZ Motorcycles.
Oh TLR we miss you!!
+lordshampoo
This is a great question.
+lordshampoo
Oh yeah.
+ThisLifeRiding Thanks man! See you on the road! Stay safe
+lordshampoo Wearing good summer motorcycle gear will actually keep you cooler than if you just wore a t-shirt with no jacket.
+Michael Kenney
Well, to start out, it is no R1.
Hi! What's your height? Does it play a factor on fit and comfort?
Thanks for the video. Can you please tell me if riding the 300 for long distance on a highway at 9k rpm will that mess up the engine?
Nah, its fine. The vast majority of my 30k miles are freeway with sitting at 9k or more rpms. The bike is built for it. Good question.
That thing sounds beautiful !
Hey, thinking about starting to ride. I live in Flagstaff, and go to the valley once a month. Will this handle the mountains well enough? You talked about going to payson but didnt hear your speed.
+Tristen Hogue
Yeah.
ThisLifeRiding you are Awsome! Thanks a lot! Maybe I'll see you around next time I'm in the valley! You drove by my old neighborhood in the video :P
+Tristen Hogue
Thanks man. Just private message me next time you are in the area and we will see if we can meet up.
cool! will do!
+Tristen Hogue
Hey man.
+Ellismore Holems
Yea
I'm about same height, and I've been riding a 300 for about 2 years. I'm ready for a bigger bike, but I've loved this thing.
Good stuff dude.
I love my ninja 300 no abs
Ive had it for 3 weeks
Gonna try the Shoty GP slip
on.. camt wait !
im pretty late but i have a 2015 Ninja 300 (green) i am the 1 and only owner owner and i am at 26 thousand miles and some change i have enjoyed it for the most part : )
Have you upgraded to a 650 yet? I'm still a newish rider but plan the Ninja 650 after I put some more miles in.
Thanks for the review and the links to your add ons. Much appreciated.
+Jeffrey Powell
Sure thing man.
- Wyatt
+ArizonaDesertRat426x
Hey dude.
I get a lot of satisfaction with my crf450r doing wheelies haha!
Thats cool man. I would love to learn to wheelie.
What's the 0-60 for the 300? Also I'm thinking of getting one later on.
5.6 Seconds.
Valentin F I've got a 2016 Ninja 300 KRT edition and love it. I really want a z300 too, they look amazing.
+carcrazynik
That's awesome man. I would love to do a group ride some time but life is pretty busy with work and school right now. I will have to plan something when time frees up.
Good review glad I got the ABS brakes.
+ThisLifeRiding thanks man I have been wanting to get a bike for a while now. And quick question you can't ride with just your motorcycle permit.
The laws surrounding permits are unique for each area. You would have to check with your local authorities.
Me too... Planning to buy a Ninja 300
I would never sell my ninja 300. I also have a GSXR1000 and I love going back to the 300 from time to time because it’s so nimble and fun
I could see that. Whenever I went for a test ride on bigger bikes, I always loved coming back to my 300.
How much did this bike cost you? $5,000? And I'm 6'2'', do you think I'd be too tall? Thanks man.
Yeah, it was just under five grand with dealer fees after a 1500 trade in. And no, you will not be too tall. I would go and sit on it to make sure though. I know a guy who is 6'8" and thoroughly enjoys it.
GREAT REVIEW!!! Thank you so much for your perspective!!!
+noahlw18
After typing out a small book in response to your question, I realized it would be better to just make you a video response. I'll make a video later this week to answer this question for you. Stay tuned. And thanks for the great question.
+noahlw18
Hey Dude. I have your video response up. Thanks for asking such a great question.
+Khaled Khelewy
Well, I was getting ready to right you a book but I think it will be easier to just make a video to answer this one. I'll put it out here some time in the next little while. Thanks for the great questions man.
+ThisLifeRiding thank you so much , I'll be W8ing your vids , appreciate it.
Stay safe.
Absolutely man. Thanks for the great questions.
How many miles are you doing a day to hit 15,000 miles in a year?
I know it's a bit early, but I would love to see a review of the 2017 Ninja 650. I have liked what I've seen so far about it :)
Cool man. If I get a chance, I will.
I'm gonna save every best buy paycheck I make to get one of these, hopefully my mom will say yes.
Daevster 666 good luck!
Did she say my yes? Lol
Did you get one lol
@@SBMMBOOGIE nope got a cb 300f
Daevster 666 is it nice or what ? Would you recommend a 300
When you down shift do you rev match with that bike?
Hey should I get a Kawasaki ninja 300 or the ninja 650?
