  • Big thank you to Island Outdoor LLC for helping me with today’s video. We built, rebuilt/modified, an Ugly Drum Smoker. This was a 55 Gallon Drum smoker that needed an overhaul. It was the very first smoker I bought and after all the great cooks on it, I needed to give it some TLC. Please got check out the different products and websites that Island Outdoor LLC Has and build your own smoker, modify or improve your current smoker!

Another shout out to my charcoal sponsor at TheGoodCharcoal! They have the best lump charcoal out there, good food deserves good charcoal! It’s now available nationwide at Sam’s Club and online at homedepot.com with free shipping! It’s chemical free and burns hotter so you use less!

Should have just scrounged you up another drum and had 2 smokers!!!! lol great job , I’m building a hunsaker style clone so far I have spent $6 dollars , building from scrap parts and pieces. Gonna buy a temp guage though, just for looks mainly because I have a 3 probe digital.

If you get away with doing them for $6 I’ll pay you $12 for one of them 🤣 best of luck appreciate the watch! I’ve cooked more pork on that drum than I could ever begin to count

@@fbsbbqreview9212 I’m not done yet but all I lack is temp guage , paint and wheels or feet. Whichever I go with. I probably could build with feet and not have to buy anything but guage and paint.

@@mikeensor788 make sure you get VHT paint, local automotive stores have them it’s like engine block paint for extreme temperatures. Any regular paint will bubble, melt and/or wear off eventually

@@fbsbbqreview9212 I think I’m going to try seasoning the outside with heat and boiled linseed oil and see what it does. If I start to get rust I can always sand again and repaint, this one is actually a trial run. I have a piece of steel water pipe that I have been making fire rings out of that is a true 1/4 inch thick. 22 inch diameter and same height as a drum. I may mount it to a trailer and make a cool little portable outdoor kitchen of sorts out of it.

How is that drum lid working for you? Did you need to add any gaskets to prevent air leaks?

They are air tight but it took a couple of cooks. Overall I would highly recommend using Island Outdoor LLC to get everything you need. We screwed up one of our lids and they got us a replacement in no time, no questions asked awesome customer service
